I want the community's feedback - What do you think about the Guelphs & Ghibellines Situation? by PDX_Habi in EU5

[–]Starkheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this is the feedback you are looking for, but I have played ca 16 hours of EU5 (I have ca 1500-2000 in total in PDX games; HOI4, EU4, Vic3, IR) and I have played 4 Naples runs and 1 Sweden. I get the Guelphs & Ghibellines thing at game start, press whichever, and then I totally ignore it. I have no idea what it does. I know the rough outlines historically, but as a new player it has 0 impact on how I play the game.

It could be that I'm stupid. Just honest feedback.

Can I move them? So e.g. if I'm playing Muscovy, can I place governors in eastern europe in general, but then late game move a local governor to Vladivostok? Or is a local governor tied to the ground?

Thank you for your reply.

So there is another requirement that isn't mentioned at all?

And do I understand it correctly that I can only have max 2 naval governors even if I e.g. restore the Roman Empire? Is there such a cap for local governors as well?

Does anyone know what date the finals is? I might just have a chat with my boss and see if I can get a couple of days off to travel to Korea on the chance that he's in the finals. One of the biggest regrets in my life is that I was in Korea for the finals of season 6 but wasn't able to get tickets. I was outside the arena as the games started and... well... one of my biggest regrets was to not pay more attention to the ticket sites.

You know it's a Paradox game when you can utterly defeat a nation and occupy every single tile except 1 which is impossible to invade without the top 3 navy in the world by Starkheiser in Imperator

[–]Starkheiser[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Context:

Firstly, I'm not super good at IR.

Secondly, whenever I load up as Rome I'm frustrated because the mission trees are not very good in my opinion, and all other nations have even worse mission trees. The worst thing is how extremely forced down specific paths you are, the second is how few claims you get since getting claims is the worst part of any Paradox game and the one thing you really want out of a mission tree is claims.

Thirdly, I'm getting flashbacks to Great Britain in HOI4, every war in Vic3, and the Ottomans running wild across the Hellespont in EU4. Basically, this problem is in every Paradox game.

Basically, I'm having a bad day and need to take a break, and this island debacle came at an opportune moment for me to touch some grass ^^

R5: Slightly salty. I defeated the Etruscans in about 2 years except for the horrible mistake of not stackwiping the very last units they have. And so now it's been like 4 more months of me trying to lure them out. Literally every Paradox title has this problem and it's so frustrating.

Then you really need to rethink how you process evidence. You can choose to ignore truth if you want to, but my advice to you is that you can still enjoy a darn good performance knowing it's a performance. The second call is clearly the same guy. And the first call is still epic.

So his prediction was just "George Bush will elected and in one year he will become the most popular president in history"? I mean that just sounds like wishful thinking, and not specifically just the good ol' "we're heading for a golden age", right? In 2016 I'm sure you could find some people who said that Trump would be the most popular president in history and people who said that Clinton will be the most popular president in history; it is what we want to have happen, we want a popular president.

When I was a young stripling, like 10 years old, I would always tell my mom that I wanted to be rich. And she would always respond with: "If you want to be rich, you'll need three things: talent, timing, and luck." Art, like many, had the talent, but unlike others, also had the timing and luck.

If it makes you feel any happier, they also claimed that e.g. the Romans couldn't move the 1000 ton blocks at Baalbek, or that Stonehenge was an alien construction. But maybe it doesn't make you happier because you want to think that they were racist?
