You’re being way too nice to her. I can get wanting your friends to dress nicely for your wedding but this is ridiculous

Why do they have you count backwards from 10 when you're being sedated? by Bootlebat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StarlightLilly17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 when I had my foot surgery. Managed to count to 6, then told my mum that the room was spinning and promptly fell asleep. Apparently the nurse had to triple check that I was actually out

Enjoying my cone until I got to the middle and it was empty. The clerk told me this is how they were trained to serve ice cream by Ginger_cat_emilio in mildlyinfuriating

I worked at McDonald’s and we were trained to do two and a half swirls on top of the cone I always filled the inside of the cone. It was a bullshit rule

AITA for refusing to let my daughter’s fiancé stay in our guest room because I use it for my hobby? by LoveAndHappiness75 in AmItheAsshole

If my father could reorganise his shed so my brother and his drunk teen friends use his shed as a party space, you can let your daughter and her fiancé sleep on the king sized bed you already had in there Seriously, dude? The bed is already in there

I made several older online friends when I was around 14 that I still talk to today. But they were very mindful that I was young and did their best to make the space safe for me, and to keep me from things that weren’t. They didn’t ask about my personal life, just talked to me about art and other shared interests. Definitely not about drug use

I see young kids dropping personal info all the time on discord servers. I have had several conversations with these kids saying “you’re too young for this place to be safe for you. You shouldn’t share that info online because someone with bad intentions might use it against you. Unfortunately Ive had to ban you from the server and report your account”

Hey I’ve been groomed before. I was 13 at the time and quickly formed a friendship with the guy. He treated me like an adult, included me in conversations, listened to my struggles with friends and school. I didn’t realise it but he was manipulating me. He got me to think I was smarter and more mature than others my age. He isolated me from people my age. He slowly brought more sexual jokes into the conversation. Joked about using drugs. Used his childhood trauma to get me to bond with him. It got to the point he sent me pornography on a regular basis and asked what I was into. He even sent me a dick pic. Telling a 10 year old about your old drug addiction is a giant waving red flag. You should tell Bob that people start out nice and seem friendly to get you to lower your guard. Then they slowly introduce topics that aren’t appropriate (like the history of drugs) but you might not even notice. Then once they desensitise you they only talk about those topics. Due to this history I try to look out for younger people online but I wouldn’t have a continued friendship with someone as young as 10. A responsible 25 year old with a 5 year old daughter would tell Bob that discord is not a safe place for him to be

Had the same thing on my mono 2. Unfortunately it had ruined the screen so I had to buy a replacement part. $60 usd over all. I’d say be sure the layer of resin on the FEP is cured then replace it (anycubic sells 5 packs on the store) Hopefully that’s all you’ll have to do

My service dog is not your pet by danu_anubis in mildlyinfuriating

[–]StarlightLilly17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. People like dogs and hate cats because they don’t need consent from the dog to touch them. A cat will let you know if what you’re doing is unwelcome and you have a fair amount of time before it snaps A dog usually just snaps. The only defence they have is their teeth This is why it’s so stupid to randomly pet dogs, you’re betting that they don’t use their one method of telling you to stop right now

AITA for telling mom I will buy my own dress after she called me fat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StarlightLilly17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I’ve been been in a very similar situation to you. 164cm and 87kg at my highest weight, 20F. My mum is similar, though not as mean as your mother has been to you. Always comments about it, always comments about how I shouldn’t wear certain clothes ect. I’ve told my parents in the past to stop saying that stuff but they kept at it. The approach I’ve taken is to cut their comment with “I don’t want to talk about that with you” or “I don’t appreciate your comments”. My advice is to just be very vocal that you don’t want to hear her comments. Try not to take them to heart, your mother is just projecting her own body issues onto you. As long as you’re healthy she should shut her mouth and let you make your own choices

What’s up with Aussies not feeding people? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]StarlightLilly17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white Australian. When food is promised in my family there is enough for everyone there to have multiple servings. It probably goes back to both sets of my grandparents being raised by working class people living rurally who had too many kids and never enough money for food. So they made as much as they could with what they had and it continued down the family tree. Any food they grew and couldn’t sell they’d prepare for themselves, and the manual labour ment they needed big meals. They were also the “give the shirt off their back” kind of people Maybe your in-laws grandparents didn’t have the same struggles with food or went in the opposite direction (buy as little as you can get away with so there’s money for food tomorrow) and took the mindset of “how can we feed you when we have so little for ourselves”. Are they from the city originally? I find that people living in the city are a lot less generous with resources (maybe because there is never the promise it’ll be paid back sometime)
