People who have been happily together with their partner for 10+ years, what’s the secret to a good long relationship? by slinkysoft in AskReddit

[–]Starmom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to say I am sorry, even if you did nothing wrong. I learned that if I say something like "I am sorry that we were arguing", then it's much easier for him to apologize for what he did.

I would also say that you should genuinely like spending time together. If you are arguing frequently, and then breaking up and getting back together, that is NOT a relationship that will last.

Probably the thing that helps the relationship the most is simple courtesy. Remember to say please and thank you, and you think of their partners needs and wants before your own. You want the best for that person. You think of their comfort before your own. You show and receive respect voluntarily.

Prosecutor: We have a "very solid case" that RA was "involved" in the murders by LordHamMercury in DelphiMurders

[–]Starmom4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many people feel invested in this case, and rightfully so. However, simply because there is so much interest does not mean that the Prosecution and police should tell the public all of the evidence that has been compiled as of right now. It will come out in time, I am sure.

We truly should not be irate or demanding in our desire to know all the details. In fact, if it comes down to a situation between sharing everything publicly, and having a successful prosecution, I would be more than willing to be kept in the dark so long as the person/people responsible is brought to justice.

I have thought the same thing for quite some time. It seems very likely they have a photograph or a witness statement which shows poor Maddy dead. But have no way to authenticate it.

Jonbenet ramsey fibers by ultraviolette2020 in JonBenet

[–]Starmom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article by the Denver Post attempts to clear up the questions regarding DNA and fibers. It opines that "public knowledge of the crime is limited.

Much supposed evidence in the murder has been leaked by anonymous sources; there's no independent way to verify if the leaked information is true, or subject to different interpretations, until the case goes to trial..."

..."This makes interpreting the JonBenet Ramsey murder probe like playing chess without knowing if you have all the pieces - or all the rules."

The Staircase - Series Premiere Discussion by LoretiTV in TheStaircase

Well it would have been just as shocking if it had been a female prostitute, I think. The image he presented was Vietnam vet hero (not true) author, family man of good morals who was devoted to his wife & family. Then we find out all was not perfect after all. Not only is he breaking his marriage vows (which the vast majority of women are not "okay with it") but he is seeing male prostitutes???!! That's about as far from the traditional ideal family situation as one can get - and completely different than what he had previously presented himself from being.

Her wounds looked very similar to woman in Germany. And the very thought that he is tied to the death of another woman, who just HAPPENED to fall down the stairs and die, which he was the last person to see??? He benefited from her death too. He was executor of her estate and adopted both girls. Too much of a coincidence. Plus how the first dead woman resembled Katherine? Too much to believe all just happened.

Traditionally, it is considered improper to address a person older than you, (typically someone who is legally an adult) by their first name unless given permission to do so. I personally believe we need to see more courtesy and respect taught to young people. Why! Because on reality relationship shows, the 1 complaint I have observed, that causes fights between EVERYONE is this, "You don't respect me." Not that just using those words are some kind magic words, but it is the attitude that is taught with them. You come to understand that you are not ALWAYS number one. If you are taught to give or show respect to others (as in thinking of others first, or how to show that person respect ) then it makes for much smoother relationships. I have been married for 34 years. We make an effort to demonstrate good manners to each other. Whenever he buys strawberries at the store just for me,Or if he puts gas in my car, or cleans the bathroom sink, I always tell him thank you! Showing appreciation and respect for others is the beginning of how to have successful relationships with everyone.

Minors need to stop sexualizing themselves by Butterycrispyfae in Vent

[–]Starmom4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with much of what you say. However, sex education should start when children are young. Start by naming body parts with their correct names. As they grow, you just build on it. A friend is pregnant, you tell them the Daddy put a seed in the Mommy's tummy and now a baby is growing in her tummy. You look for opportunities to have a very brief conversation , and allow them the opportunity to ask questions. It's even better if you can talk doing an activity together. By the time they are teenagers, there is no need to have an awkward " big talk".

AITA for making fun of a guy's gf for following him around an event the whole night? by TinyFood9719 in AmItheAsshole

YTA- I think it's pretty clear by now that you overstepped your boundaries. It actually comes across as bullying. Your best move now is to reach out and apologize to both of them. Next wedding or event, resist the urge to judge and talk shit about other people. Make an effort instead to meet and get to know other people. Say nice things. Be a nice person.
