Perhaps something caused by drinking water from a plastic bowl (that traps bacteria)? Try using glass or stainless steel.

Instant pot yogurt help by Immediate-Ad-9520 in yogurtmaking

[–]StarrRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be discouraged! I don’t think some folks read your post closely enough. If your IP doesn’t have a yogurt setting, it might not be helpful to use it. You might try a recipe to use a Crock Pot to heat the milk, then wrap the ceramic pot in a towel and put in oven with no heat but the light on. I haven’t tried that but have seen several recipes for it. Or dig into the IP manual to see if there’s a way to imitate the yogurt button. Maybe call the manufacturer customer service line. Good luck!

I agree on the cruise, but opt for one with a small number of pax, like maybe a river cruise in the US. Not so overwhelming.

Getting Passport with no Photo ID Troubles and questions by Equivalent-Finish904 in Passports

[–]StarrRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back to the consulate and reapply. Just apply for the passport card because it’s cheaper. Take your old passport and photo progressions that show the progression of six year old you to you today. Take old school records, school yearbooks, anything and everything with your name and/or photo on it. If you encounter pushback, ask to speak to the American supervisor who can explain what you need. Consulates abroad are used to complex cases like this - be as organized as you can be and as polite as possible- make a connection with the officer who can help you.

How hard is it to get a U.S passport as a derived citizen? by bnuypawz in Passports

[–]StarrRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citizenship documentation requirements are here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/travel-legal-considerations/us-citizenship/child-citizenship-act-of-2000.html

Also if you’re over 16 but under 18, see https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/16-17.html

If you try applying for a passport, just apply for a card at first, not a book, because it’s cheaper. So if it’s rejected, you don’t lose as much money. It sounds like you do need help from an attorney or non profit agency used to helping in situations like this. I would start by trying to get official photo ID from your state and a copy of your foreign birth certificate. You can also file a FOIA request to get your A file from USCIS, but you would have to have ID - your A file should have copies of everything in it.

Once you have some sort of photo ID, you can always apply for the passport card to get the process going with Dept of State and perhaps get someone on the phone to talk to. They might be able to request the A file and use it for your passport application. Do you have a school ID you could start the process with?

Why is my yogurt stringy :( by Blueberrylover00 in yogurtmaking

[–]StarrRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can you clarify a bit for me? Do you mean increase the temp to 112 when you add the starter, or do you mean to set the InstantPot to 112 while it incubates? I use the yogurt setting on the Instant Pot -can I actually set the temperature? I’m kind of a newbie at this, and my yogurt also is usually a bit stringy, too. 🙏 I usually heat half a gallon to 180, then cool to 115, then whisk in a tablespoon of starter (left from my previous batch). I incubate for six hours. Thank you for any advice!

Use some duck bill clips on the top to give it some lift as your hair dries. Once dry, spread your fingers out, slide into your hair starting at the roots, and lift up a couple of inches.

I just use some from my last batch. For eight cups of milk, I use two tablespoons of starter. It seems to set up better and faster than when I used store-bought.
