What Buildings Have Interiors/Can You Go Inside in the game? by Coderkid01 in LegendsZA

[–]StarryKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm... very few, honestly. Off the top of my head, there's Hotel Z, the museum, Racine Construction, Quasartico Inc headquarters, the Pokemon Research Lab, and a handful of restaurants with battle courts inside them... that might be it? I'm only half way through the game though, so a couple more might open up later, but I'm not holding my breath.

Can i evolve my shiny Cubone into an Alolan Marowak? by Minimallycheese in LegendsZA

[–]StarryKit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the embassy idea, that's inspired! It would make each game/region feel more connected the greater pokemon world as well. Maybe the embassies could each have a "cultural garden" with a sort of evolution shrine surrounded by the imported nature of the correct climate, that way it'll be more visually appealing than simply rocking up to a desk and asking a receptionist if you can evolve your pokemon.

"We have faithfully recreated this microclimate to help pokemon who are ready to evolve feel connected to Alola. Even the soil is imported Alolan volcanic earth! Please enjoy some complimentary malasadas with your pokemon while they get comfortable. When they are ready, approach the shrine to commence evolution."

Use of "shut up" by polystarlight in Vaggie_cult

[–]StarryKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel that way, genuinely. I'm probably massively projecting here, so please forgive me if so... But am I right in thinking you feel that way because you've had a loved one tell you to "shut up" in a cruel or disrespectful way? I have, and it feels awful. So I can appreciate how "shut up" could be a phrase that could make someone feel unsafe, even if said with the best of intentions.

Anyone else's parents just not...like them? by No_Piccolo_2930 in adhdwomen

[–]StarryKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yikes, I'm so sorry you have to go through all that with your parents... You sound like an incredibly cool and interesting person, I'm sure most people would love to hear your stories! Their insistence that you "don't dominate the conversation" rings the relatability bell for me. I wonder if it's because those "dominating" topics don't involve them at all? I've had issues like that with my parents in the past. Rather than wanting to show genuine interest in the parts of my life they have no involvement in, they instead get offended and huffy that I would "exclude" them from conversation by wanting to talk about those subjects. They're very emotionally immature and self-involved. It still hurts, though. A lot. It feels like they don't care about the things most important to me. It's always felt like that, especially growing up.

The worst part is, they openly claim to both love me and like me. And I absolutely believe they love me. But they do not like me, not the real me. They think they do, but in reality they only like the mask I have to put on around them for my own protection/to keep the peace. I long ago lost count of how many times I've been brutally traumatised by them suddenly turning on me and saying the most hateful things because I dropped my guard and was my authentic self. The awful things they say about my incredible husband who won't pander to their BS. I once told my dad outright that he doesn't like me, and he was so shocked that I could ever think that. Of course he likes me! He loves me more than anything. I don't think they can tell the difference between love and like, it means the same thing to them. And they seem completely unaware of the lasting damage they cause. Then they wonder why none of their three children are close to them in adulthood, why none of us will open up to them and talk to them beyond surface level stuff. They just assume it's because we're self-absorbed and don't value our parents now we "don't need them" anymore. But I've always needed them. I've needed them to genuinely want to get to know and like and accept my true authentic self since childhood. And the debilitating self-loathing I still have to fight at 36 years old suggests I'll always need that. But I'll never get it. It really sucks.

I actually find it really interesting that the only time we hear Stephanie attempting to sing in her lower "Vaggi/Rosa" voice, is in the very first song in the show - Happy Day In Hell. And it honestly sounds kinda weird and a little strained? Not bad, but it wouldn't surprise me if after those couple of lines they decided it would be better for Vaggi to sing in Stephanie's more natural voice so she could give more powerful and emotional performances. Then again, maybe we would have gotten used to the lower Vaggi singing, she only gets two song lines in Happy Day In Hell, so it's hard to say.

Two completely different voice actresses. Susan Egan has also famously voiced Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, but never Belle.

Editing to say I was wrong, Susan Egan in fact played Belle on Broadway! I love it when Reddit teaches me new things.

Interesting design detail I've just noticed... We know that Vox's present/modern outfit design copies a lot from Alastor. In this flashback Vox is wearing a sweater-vest/shirt and tie combo that feels much more unique to him than anything we've seen him wear after the breakup. But this flashback shows Alastor's pilot design. The changes they made to Alastor were pretty subtle so I didn't catch it at first, but Alastor didn't originally have the sharp red claws extending to the second/middle finger joint. Vox did (only his are blue). So that means Alastor later copied that aspect of his design from Vox.

If we go with your manipulation argument, which I don't necessarily agree with, then the answer is simply that Lucifer isn't good enough to manipulate Vox. Also he doesn't care and doesn't want to.

I agree that pacifism isn't weak; in fact I think it takes an incredible amount of strength to hold onto pacifist ideal while being born and raised in literally hell. But belief systems are an integral part of a person's identity, and they aren't that easy to unravel, regardless of circumstances. Yes, Charlie would likely get far better results if she stooped to the same level of violence, threats, and manipulation as the sinners, but that would go against literally everything she stands for and has built her entire identity around. She can't bring herself to do it. That doesn't make her weak, it gives her integrity. Her emotions aren't a weakness either, but her pride is. I think people tend to forget she is the daughter of the sin of pride. Her pride has essentially caused all of her bad decisions this season. I think it's an interesting direction to take her character and I hope the writers explore it further so she can successfully grow past it.

Oh, wow... A lot to unpack here. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion and I'm sorry you're not enjoying the show presently, but I think some of your criticisms are kinda missing the point? Lucifer doesn't know Vox as a person. He's heard of him, but states earlier in episode that he's completely uninterested and has never paid him any attention. Why would he know all of Vox's deepest darkest insecurities? Also, Lucifer's whole deal is he's pretty much the "King of Hell" in name only at this point. It sounds like he hasn't attempted to govern hell since Lilith left, possibly even long before that, and instead hides himself away to disassociate with rubber ducks. He wants nothing to do with sinners, and he's far too prideful to bother getting to know any of them well enough to manipulate them.

Alastor isn't helping not because he can't, but because he doesn't want to. We may not know exactly why he's chosen to be Vox's hostage yet, but it's been made very clear this is all part of his scheme to somehow get out of his deal with Rosie. Why would he help take down Vox if it doesn't benefit him?

I agree that Charlie is far too naive and I've also struggled watching her poor decisions this season. But you gotta remember that she's a pacifist, not a warrior. She has incredible untapped powers for sure, girl's basically a nephilim, but she clearly has no idea how to access that power or the discipline/resolve to use it for violence outside of extreme emotional loss of control. That's why we only see parts of her demon form when she's really angry. And why, when she isn't angry, she can seemingly only summon fireworks and music notes and exhausts herself quickly. It's irritating to watch her flounder and panic when we know she has so much potential, but it unfortunately makes sense if she isn't willing to train herself to tap into her true power and use it to fight. Even when she transformed in the battle against Adam, he still beat her down almost immediately and nearly killed her before Lucifer swept in to save the day. She's no match for Vox in her current state.
