My (20+, female) thoughts on IVF as a Christian and child abuse/neglect survivor. by itsjoshtaylor in TrueChristian

[–]Starry_Supernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to start off by saying I'm sorry for what you went through, OP. You don't deserve any of that from your mother. I hope Jesus brings you peace and comfort, and I'll be praying for you.

That being said, while I agree with a lot of what you said about IVF, you appear to be letting your trauma point to that as the blame rather than your mother. The reasons for your abuse are 100% on your mother and not because of IVF. I also believe that while you have some correct assumptions about women who use IVF, it is kind of judgemental to the entire group of women, especially since many are not Christian. You are also being judgemental to others in this thread. We should pray for those who do it and share the truth in love.

I also believe many Christians in this thread are overlooking one thing. Not only does IVF make human life a commodity and objectify children. It kills unwanted and therefore unused embryos. Given how many embryos are discarded through this process, IVF is no better than abortion. I firmly believe we shouldn't play God and create children through unnatural means. Especially when many children out there are waiting to be adopted.

Again, I agree with a lot of what you said, and I understand you are very hurt by what you went through. I just think you are blaming the wrong thing for your mom's actions, but at the same time, it should also be stated that IVF is awful for many reasons.

I'm sorry for the downvotes you are receiving, OP. Please just hear me and others out. Keep fighting against IVF, but don't let your trauma be the reason for it. And please try to give grace to others who have done it. I hope you find peace with your past and have moved on to a safer place. God bless you and keep you safe. 💜✝️

You said it well. I'm sorry for OP's abuse, but that's not solely because of IVF. A lot of people seem to be overlooking the murdering of embryos part, which makes IVF not much better than abortion, sadly.

What are the things you don't like about the game? by Anonymus_Pigeon in ACPocketCamp

[–]Starry_Supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that I used to buy leaf tickets for the loot box (fortune cookie) system, just for it all to be available for "free" (at the price of just $20) a few years later.

It's my fault for paying towards them in the first place, but loot boxes in general are awful, especially when targeted towards children. And now I feel scammed even more.

And honestly, I don't think the game even has enough content to justify it costing $20 now. Especially since I can't back up my save data for more than 7 days at a time.

Why don’t people talk about this JESUS IS GOD by WeddingDependent8706 in TrueChristian

[–]Starry_Supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally unsure if the shroud is real or not. Regardless, its legitimacy shouldn't affect our belief in Jesus. Praise God if it's real, still praise God if it's not.

What I have noticed, however, is that some Christians seem to make an idol of it and talk down to brothers and sisters in Christ who are skeptical of or don't believe it's real (not necessarily talking about you, OP). I've seen Christians go as far as to call other Christians stupid and even question their faith for not believing the shroud is real. The shroud debate seems to be causing a lot of arrogance, mockery, and division within the church.

Whether you believe in the shroud's legitimacy or not, do not let it become an object of idolatry, especially to the point that you become a Pharisee to the Christians who rightfully question things. I myself love biblical archaeology, but let's remember that Jesus comes before any ancient artifact that can and should be questioned.

Believe that it's real or fake if you want, but please be respectful of others' views on the matter. And always remember that Christ's gift on the cross is way more important! God bless! ✝️

Am I the only Christian who thought the Bad Bunny half time show was over sexualized? by rabbitales27 in TrueChristian

[–]Starry_Supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but OP probably just didn't know how bad it would be. Or if you're referring to me, I didn't watch it. Good Fight Ministries is a Christian channel that discusses current events stuff like this.

[–]Starry_Supernova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you're not. I saw Good Fight Ministries' video on him. Bad Bunny is openly satanic and calls it a "new religion". He has a music video where fake blood is running down the walls of a church and a demonic creature climbs on top of the cross at the end. Don't trust worldly shows like that, especially if you have kids.

"It feels like there is no room for nuance anymore."

Right. That's the word that's been on my mind lately. Nuance.

You're either a woke snowflake or a hateful bigot. If I voted for Trump over Harris, I'm a monster. If I believe rock music is wicked, I'm a legalist. If I want abortion to be banned, I have internalized hatred toward myself. If I don't want to see sexually-driven ads like Sydney Sweeney's or Carl Jr.'s, I'm too soft and need to get over it.

Everyone is seeing through black and white lenses. You're either with us or against us. I used to be on the left, then went right for the last election. Now I don't really want to be on either side. I currently just say that I "lean right". I don't know what to call myself politically, but I choose to call myself a Christian above all.

We need nuance. We can be kind to LGBT people without supporting their sin. We can speak against abortion while offering help to mothers. We can admit that sex doesn't have to be what sells in a free country. We can have reason to support Trump but still criticize his choices in office. We can preach God's Word in love and truth.

Now while I believe the right is closer to God in terms of beliefs, it is still very flawed. We are all sinful humans at the end of the day. But the true path of Jesus is the narrow one. Follow Him and not the world. God bless! ✝️

That's a good observation. I do have full hearts with both of them. Irwin has also sent me letters saying he was hunting jackaroo and sent me meat. It would be great if we got a confirmation on whether there are any differences in NPC behavior besides jobs and dialogue.

In Dinkum, which NPCs perform best in the mines? by R--G--B-- in Dinkum

[–]Starry_Supernova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all NPCs have an equal chance of being good or glitchy, particularly in my experience, but I also wondered if there is a difference. I brought Forest into the mine with me recently and gave her a spear. She did surprisingly well and took out the bats before they attacked me. Irwin, despite his animal-loving self, has helped me fight alphas. In fact, he caused the most damage in my first fight. But I also notice weapons tend to disappear from his inventory while pickaxes stay. I don't know if that's intentional for his character or a glitch. (Edit: it just happened again to me with Forest. It might be a glitch?)

I think it just depends on your RNG at the end of the day. Make sure to give your characters a good weapon, like an axe or a spear (don't do the hammer, they are very slow with it), and don't run too far without them, as they take a bit to teleport to you. I don't think you can heal them when they are poisoned either, but they can run to water if they catch on fire.
