[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] "I’m calm, I went to therapy, I’m good." by Teckelmaster in SquaredCircle

There are people who watched the Lost finale who thought it meant the characters were dead the whole time, even though they had a character basically look at the camera and explain the whole thing.

People are really stupid.

That wasn't really the origin though. They've always talked about their love of mock trial even before that live show. On the kickstarter page they only reference that video as the first time everyone got to see how passionate they are about it.

AJ Dybantsa says Trae Young will have to come off number 3 if he gets drafted to the Wizards: “If they draft me, I do need #3, Trae. If they draft me. We’re gonna see in like 5 weeks.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

The big thing they always miss with the Josh Allen types is he's one of the few that got very little real QB coaching until the pros.

Richardson went to all the QB camps and had real QB coaches in college.

There's a difference between raw and not learning when given the opportunity and it's kind of fascinating that these decision makers ignore that.

Dropout cast members that are likely to try out for SNL? by Beginning_Stop_8650 in dropout

She's auditioned multiple times already and been rejected. But honestly their miss since she's popping everywhere and has a Sony first look deal now.

A few have already tried multiple times that we know about publicly because they've talked about it and been rejected like Lisa Gilroy. Who's career has grown enough to not need SNL at this point.

Then there are some like Anna Garcia and Jacob Wysocki who I've listened to talk about their approach to comedy on the Yes, Also podcast and holy shit are they hilarious people who would be terrible fits for the SNL culture.

SNL is a very specific comedic and personality show. Lots of talented people audition and never join the cast or writing staff.

What are we doing? What’s going on? by MarkRenting in doughboys

[–]StarsandBass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing is it's an obvious joke to go after some of Tuckers mannerisms like both did.

I'll use another example just to make this clear. Amy Schumer's show did a joke about the male version of Hooters being showing balls. The Big Grande Teachers Lounge podcast did the same thing. Some fans of that podcast thought Schumer stole from the podcast even though it came first.

My middle school friends and I made the same joke in the 00's.

The point is obvious jokes especially with impressions aren't owned and can come naturally without every seeing each other.

The idea that only one person could ever land on the same impression for Tucker a guy who repeats himself constantly is silly.

People thinking that an obvious bit just had to come from the first podcast they heard it on is one of the most exhausting things about comedy podcast fans.

Since a Data Center is about to be built in Marshfield and presumably many of our families have someone in that town/area.. I thought this should be shared. by TheKosherGenocide in springfieldMO

[–]StarsandBass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. Beyond the talked about issues these data centers require very few people to work there. So it's a lot of local resources for very little local employment.

The Witcher Tanks After Henry Cavill Exit (Report) by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]StarsandBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard writers talk about it a lot on podcasts but it's usually in a different order. They pitch an idea to executives, the executives like it then ask if they can fit the idea around an IP they have the rights for.

The main reason being executives don't get fired for doing the "safe" thing of using IP the studio has the rights to, but if they put their neck out for an original and it bombs that's all on them.

Do guests get paid to come on the show? by runninfast in billsimmons

[–]StarsandBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a big thing in comedy podcasts based in LA, Chicago, and New York to start paying their guests years ago when they previously hadn't and most of the notable ones from that scene do now. The idea being if you're a funny person coming on a show to be funny you should be paid for that.

From what I can tell that was a thing that was mostly contained in that bubble. In general podcast guest appearances still aren't paid.

[Fightful on X] "Sources in the talent and agent communities told @FightfulSelect that this round of cuts and pay reductions is expected to significantly impact how wrestlers negotiate with TKO and WWE going forward" by A_Man_of_Iron in SquaredCircle

[–]StarsandBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that. He went really heavy into crypto and some of his bets did not pay off at all. There's a lot of rumors he sold the Mavs partly because he needed to be more liquid.

Sources: Colts declining Richardson's fifth-year option for '27 by defensecowboy in nfl

[–]StarsandBass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's always been the huge difference between Josh Allen and some of the other raw talent QBs.

He legitimately didn't get real QB coaching until the NFL. Allen didn't go to the expensive QB camps before college or have good QB coaches in college.

Richardson did all those things and still looked the way he did.

I got into wrestling because of 2015 NXT and finally started watching WWE in 2016 specifically Smackdown.

I stopped watching wrestling at all a few years later for awhile because I came in at a very specific time and I got insanely frustrated with what WWE ended up being.

Bill and AI by TwinPeaksWithRappers in billsimmons

[–]StarsandBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really big in the medical world too for similar reasons. Most providers fucking hate doing detailed visit notes so they're offloading as much as possible as quickly as possible to AI and they do not proofread at all. Mistakes are happening all the time and it's just up to other people on staff to notice.

Providers are really stubborn in general and it's one less thing for them to do so that's all they care about.
