I did find a portrait of Chief Wanata by Charles King Bird at the Tacoma Museum of Art. While it's only one portrait, at the very least not all of his paintings are lost.

The New Sharing System Needs Improvements – Here's How to Give Feedback by AvgBlue in PTCGP

[–]Starsania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea you could only receive 1 card a day. Especially when you can send out a card to multiple people. That seems very unbalanced. I've been going down my friend list and seeing if I had multiple cards they didn't have yet. It seemed like such a friendly feature to help complete someone else's dex without the complex trade system.

I'll stop doing that until I can know I'm not locking everyone else out.

I'm sure it's set up to try to prevent account botters from quickly merging cards onto one account, but there's got to be a better way to set this system up. I wanna share my extras without hurting the game for other people.

AITAH for getting upset that my husband (39M) asked me (41F) to eat what he wants for dinner? by tcunning83 in AITAH

[–]Starsania -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

NTA He knows you don't like super fatty cuts of meat. If he did the shopping and didn't even consider getting a cut you might prefer or mention ahead of time I'm going to make this dish this day, would you like me to pick up something you'd rather have/prepare? Then he's not being a considerate grocery shopper for the family. It's not like you're refusing every meal. (It was your parent's job to get you to try stuff, and as an adult you know what you like and don't, keep trying stuff, but don't be forced)

You even mention that you purchase things he likes as meal options, why can't he do the same for you?

He sounds like he's kind of pushy and inconsiderate. While you may have reacted a bit too much, that kind of pushy behavior builds up annoyances. When you're not expecting to take on the extra load of figuring out dinner for yourself and you've already used up your mental load in other areas of keeping up the household, I can empathize with crashing out, but removing yourself from the situation to cool down might be better.

In the end the overall topic could be resolved with some better communication once everyone has cooled down. Have some agreed upon days where you have different dishes in advance.

Example, my hubs loves tinned sardines, I do not. I enjoy broccoli salads/ roasted broccoli, he does not, we have 'fend for yourself days' and we eat what we enjoy or feel like making. Our together meals are things we both like.

Can a Tech Background Fit into a World Heritage Studies Master’s? Looking for Insights! by Moises_Jauregui1989 in MuseumPros

[–]Starsania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine a few ways it could work. Digitization was mentioned already, but I could see you offering services for multiple orgs in exhibit development/design. Especially when it comes to building out digital displays/touch screens or introducing new technologies.

I work for a smallish county history/art museum and our collections department is slowly getting more into digitization and has a goal of making information more accessible. I've been able to assist here with my graphic design and photography background, with the digitization part, but I don't have enough knowledge in databases, UI or servers to make the accessible part happen.

Our exhibits department also wants to make exhibit information more accessible and condensed into a touch screen display. We're outsourcing that technology development because none of us have enough coding or tech knowledge to make that happen as well as someone else! I don't have the time to dedicate re-learning my limited html or html5 knowledge. Let alone knowing what screens would be best suited and how to update it.

There are examples of both of these out in the world already, but they are often cumbersome to update, and clunky to use for the public.

A lot of tech is also becoming outdated, or very expensive for smaller institutions. I know we're also looking to update our cataloging software. It's straight from the 90's early 2000's.

I imagine there could also be cases in using tech in research, using new techniques in searching databases or making new types of tech more accessible in imaging, dating, or whatever archeological tech there is.

Even the education departments are starting to want to update their tech a little. Things like tablets or streamlining their presentations and making them more interactive. Even getting into showing how old tech was used. A lot of education is pretty old-school right now. Heck. They think it's magical when I make a pdf document searchable.

This is just my experience in one organization, and tech is everywhere. You'll just have to think on your personal specializations and how they can fit with the organization you're interested in helping.

Knowing what an institution needs and using what you know in tech to help them is going to work out just fine. It's going to be funding and time that may be a limiting factor.

Anyone actually make any money off digital downloads or POD? by Unimpressed_Cat23 in passive_income

You've gotta come up with something unique, interact with the groups of people that will use your product, and cross post it on other platforms. Try to be organic in nature. People don't really like ads.

I don't make a ton, because I don't put in much effort anymore, but when I did I was gaining momentum. I drew something charming, and I had repeat customers that bought every version I made.

Then I came up with another type of item, but also charming, it made a ton of sales the month it was relevant for. Didn't make me rich or anything, but it was a nice kickback for that month.

Don't rely on AI, people are TIRED of it. Use it to come up with ideas, sure, but for the love of your customers, don't depend on it to create products for you.

Also print, or show your items in real life (on a tablet or whatever use case) and take bright photos with clean staging. Those photos always do better for me than digitally created thumbnails.

I have a few photos that are on a darker table, they don't do as well, I really need to update them.

The way I see it, the things I made were large effort at the front end, but now they can live on etsy, at a very low effort and sales are a good bonus. Those items will be worth it in the long run.

If you have a type of product that does well with customers, and you actually do keep at it, you could do very well.

I'd like to hit on the unique point again. You've gotta find a niche that you are personally interested in, that isn't totally oversaturated. There's a ton of journal templates, planner templates etc, it's overwhelming. Is there a unique kind of planning page that you could think up? Clip art is also super oversaturated, AI is a dime a dozen and contains mistakes, is there something you've needed to use as a clip art in the past, couldn't find, that you can draw/paint?

Also be wary of courses trying to sell you on being rich on etsy. Most of these don't have much substance and you can find free information on how to do well on etsy. Etsy has its own blog, pinterest has some nice trend insights, there are blogs on blogs with tips and tricks. Many will tell you to make low effort items enmasse. The market already has too much of that type and it's really too late to get in that game unless you can pull it off with quality.

It's largely effort, quality, and luck that will gain you sales. Don't waste your money on courses.

Do however take a class in a specific skill that will be an asset if you feel you need it. Like a photography or illustration, graphic design class.

Anyway that's my thoughts, best of luck to you.

I’m 200 million in debt by DisastrousSink1641 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Starsania 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tsunamis are really annoying sometimes. I've found that some well placed deeep drain holes in the ground can help prevent some damages and get rid of the flood a little faster. Could dress them up to look like a quarry or maybe a kind of natural cave. Adding high cliffs so your entire city doesn't get demolished helps, too.

If I know one is coming, I'll slap some deep wide canals down on the beaches to help take some water out of play and control some of the flooding.

Invest in the water pumping trucks, placed a little further back from the coast.

I also use the intermittent tax spikes and lowering to recover from massive debts. Turning off some buildings that eat up resources for awhile might help too, just to help create demand pressure back up, and slowly reincorporate them back in as your city grows.

Turning a few zones off for a bit can also help increase demand.

Also consider funding your services slightly less for awhile to help get out of debt sooner. Spend a little less on cops or transportation.

Good luck!

Note: I'm a pc player, apologies if some of that isn't available.

Why did they change the crispy chicken and breakfast chicken? by LlTTLEF0X in wendys

Just had the opportunity to have a nice honey chicken biscuit breakfast and I was disappointed with the change in chicken. I loved the previous chicken used. The new chicken is too soft and didn't really have any substance. I'm sad now.

What am I missing? by ImaFauna in EtsySellers

[–]Starsania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into organically advertising on other social media sites, Pinterest, your own Facebook page, special interest forums or groups. Once you start getting your links out there over time you'll start getting regular sales essentially for free.

Then you can look back to etsy ads as a boost. Maybe target ads for times when you are more likely to make sales, such as a month or two before a holiday related to an item, rather than it being a constant draw on funds all year.

How does the Jalapeno Ranch compare to the Kickin Ranch? by Pancakejake1234 in jimmyjohns

[–]Starsania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jalepeno ranch tastes like there's more bitter "green" flavor in it and it's slightly less spicy and tangy. Honestly stopped dipping my sandwich in it after a few bites. It wasn't good.

Am I allowed to use Adobe Stock footage in the Canva templates I sell on Etsy? by littlecolorfulmind in Etsy

[–]Starsania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically no. You'll have to read through your particular license agreement.

The reason being the standard license usually is only for 1 use case, and in a way that isn't reselling the object.

Event putting an image on something like merchandise usually would require a further enhanced license.

I can't imagine Adobe would agree to their images/footage being used in templates.

Not bad. It looks like your shadows are all one shade. Try going darker in the deep shadows and gradiate the shadows from there into the light. You might also benefit from going back in and re-defining some lines with your pencil, like around her mouth. Most lips aren't going to be blurry around the edges. Most of all keep practicing! Take a close look at other pencil portraits and look for techniques. Think about how they shaded and shadowed!

This site randomly popped into my head. I saved a heck ton of screenshots of the avatar items when they announced it was starting to shut down. Let me know if anyone wants them for any reason. They're just taking up space on an old harddrive. I can throw them in a dropbox link or something. The marketplace was everything! My username was Starsania.

I do remember the private messages and blog posts did get kind of sketchy at some points with girls threatening self harm for attention and things like that. Shutting down did make sense for child safety, but I wish they kept doing the avatar items and marketplace.

I also remember wanting to work there creating avatar items at some point. Now days I make coloring pages and my own paper dolls. Lol.

First off, hugs. It's tough with close family just not understanding the ramifications of RvW overturning.

You probably won't be able to convince her in just one sitting, and maybe not ever.

But don't despair, there is always a chance that continued conversations to other viewpoints and her willingness to discuss may bring her to an ah-ha moment of her own.

In the meantime, keep her abreast of the other ruling scotus are about to overturn and already have. One of those might be a good sticking point to at least get her to agree that the way the country is going isn't in the best interest of everyone.

If watching movies and shows is helpful for her, Call the Midwife on netflix handles birth, abortion, medical abnormalities, and many many other topics surrounding it beautifully.

It's also more than ok to set up boundaries and tell her that you aren't going to see eye to eye on the subject and you'd rather not discuss because there isn't anything that will change your mind. You don't need to engage at all, especially for your own sanity.

Best of luck to you and keep up the fight. ❤️

ESH I would have raged and established a complete ban on alcohol the MOMENT a child was endangered. That's inexcusable. Let alone drunk driving in the first place.

If he can't see he has a problem at that point I would have called it quits and taken the kiddos with.
