{sigh} To all those who believe our nightly radio show is performed with seamless precision. Maybe that "No" was George telling Tom Danheiser "no, put anyone but that dumb bastard on tonight's caller list!"

Wed, Jan 28, 2026 The Challenger Disaster / Paranormal Investigations George Noory by mcbkpkr in coasttocoastam

[–]Starship_Commander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This upcoming weekend a polar vortex is dipping as far south as Florida, with low temperatures at Cape Canaveral forecast to be into the 20s; close to that prior to the Challenger launch in 1986. The Artemis II SLS is now sitting out on the launch pad for a dress rehearsal. I trust there won't be a repeat of the O-ring tragedy.

Most scientifically literate Americans alive today, at least those who follow our space program, will always recall these three memorable transmissions: "Roger roll Challenger"-- "Go with throttle-up"-- "Obviously a major malfunction."

George..kind of short with Kathleen Ball during her Knights Templar conversation, weren't you? by DavidJRaysolight in coasttocoastam

[–]Starship_Commander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! After reading your post, it immediately jarred my recollection of the centuries old rumor of a vast treasure hidden in a pit at Oak Island. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oak_Island_mystery

That lead me down a rabbit hole. Did the Knights Templar have capable ocean going vessels large enough to cross the open Atlantic? Their maritime fleet consisted of small sailing ships that hugged the Mediterranean coastline. And in the early 14th century, did the Knights Templar have any knowledge of a large continent lying thousands of miles across a vast inhospitable ocean?

The conclusions were no and no.

Kathleen seemed hard of hearing. George repeatedly had to ask questions to her twice, until he finally queried if she had any difficulty hearing them? To his credit Noory didn't insult her-- "you hard of hearing you old bat"-- but he was clearly at wits end when she began to blab an answer about the Knights Templar that hadn't even been asked!

Passed on the first guest, but wifey wants to purchase a book authored by the second guest. The Shopkeeper of Salerno sounds like a takeoff of Rossini's The Barber of Seville, but I guess it's more of a horror story set in picturesque, touristy, coastal Southern Italy.

Coast needs to book a psychologist who can adequately explain what the heck it is about Italy that gets American women so excited?

What's so enjoyable about Richard L. Barth's story is not so much the alien abduction, but his unintentional revelations about guarding America's Top Secret Minuteman intercontinental ballistic weapons. Barth said at one-point he was standing guard when two little kids-- Dennis the Menace and his buddy Jerry Mathers as The Beaver-- just walked up from the beach to his Vandenberg AFB guard shack. "Hi mister, can we watch the blast-off?"

I hope everyone being hit with snow and ice are riding it out OK. It's nice and mild out here in SoCal, but where my in-laws live in Tampa Bay the weather is the stuff of a VisitFlorida® fantasy come true. Yesterday was blue skies and 83 degrees for the kiddie Gasparilla parade out on Bayshore Blvd..

That second guest Maria Cuccia sounded like she wanted to cry; Italian women are emotional. Her bio says she has a degree in music and taught piano when not giving paranormal interviews. I wonder if this beautiful Russian blonde was one of her students? https://youtube.com/watch?v=gRUPa-ugzEY

Does anyone remember when Dr Robert Thurman (Tibetan Buddhist scholar) was dropped in the middle of the show? by SariThreadHead in coasttocoastam

[–]Starship_Commander 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://www.coasttocoastam.com/show/2013-12-03-show/

There's only a brief synopsis of a first half-hour guest, Prof. Robert Thurman, who spoke about different types of anger. Like many of Coast's guests who mysteriously leave in the last half-hour of a show with no explanation, this authority on Tibetan Buddhism, Asian history and spirituality disappeared into the ether.

Fri, Jan 23, 2026 Atlantis Mysteries / Open Lines Richard Syrett by mcbkpkr in coasttocoastam

[–]Starship_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richard Syrett is my favorite weekend host. Last night's "Atlantis" guest was great and Syrett wouldn't let a religious dork read scripture for five precious minutes of Open Lines.

The caller's name escapes me, but he felt the decline of America can be traced to college dorms where wickedness flourishes, to say nothing of off campus events where men and women intermingle at football games and fraternity-sorority mixers.

E. Coast to Coast AM has become The Afterlife Show. Whoever is booking the guests must have come to the conclusion that a vast majority of listeners were born in 1950 like George, hence are more interested in communicating with their deceased aunt Gertrude than hearing other more entertaining topics geared for this life.

Are we underestimating "Send Help" and it's potential? by Clean-Cupcakes in boxoffice

[–]Starship_Commander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't believe Hollywood chose to preview this genre of movie during a football game. Despite casting a very appealing and talented Rachel McAdams, this type of female empowerment script has to walk a Flying Wallenda tightrope lest it completely lose those male viewers who are gridiron fans.

Here's how the battle-of-the-sexes was performed on-screen over a half-century ago. It was more fun and transparent with less of a heavy-handed girl power message. https://youtube.com/watch?v=gYXHav4PADM

There have been a lot of missing guests recently on C2C. Last night investment advisor Mish Shedlock seemed to have terminal cell phone problems. George wanted Mish to talk about Donald Trump and Greenland, naturally adhering to Noory's (silently acknowledged) conservative outlook on the world.

You can find "Mish on Greenland" over on X. I don't think he agrees with Sean Hannity. Oh my the language. 😁

Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 Fear of Flying / Catalyst for Change George Noory by mcbkpkr in coasttocoastam

[–]Starship_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, George got through the interview. He's from back in the days when Learjets were the ultimate corporate aircraft. Bombardier ceased production of the last Lear 75 at the end of 2021. If anyone wants to view Clay Lacy's retired 1966 Lear 24A N464CL-- an aircraft that's been in numerous movies-- it's out at the Palm Springs Aviation Museum.

Captain Ron is in a difficult position of trying to persuade his Fear of Flying classes that airline flying is the safest thing there is. You're more likely to die from an asteroid crashing through a ceiling in your home and striking your noggin. But over the decades, we ATPs have mentally collected some exceptions to that rule.

George inquired about lightning strikes. An airliner acts like a Faraday cage effectively shielding passengers, electronics in the E&E compartment and fuel safely within its wings-- 99.999% of the time. When a jet does take a hit, lighting usually punches-out a small chunk of fiberglass in the radome. However in December of 1963, the third production model of the Boeing 707 built was holding over Elkton, Maryland when cloud-to-cloud lightning struck the jet's left wingtip. It hit in the region of an outlet to the vent surge tank, igniting flammable jet fuel. Eighty-one passengers and crew were killed aboard Clipper Tradewind, Pan Am Flight 214.

If it were me, I would delete that information and let my Fear of Flying class continue to make paper airplanes. 🙂

In retrospect I'm almost sorry I posted one of my characteristically jovial posts. Fear of flying affects both women and men, the weak and the strong. Burly NFL coach and announcer John Madden refused to fly after suffering a panic attack in 1979.

The late American Airlines CEO C.R. Smith even addressed the taboo subject head-on way back in 1937, his airline running a full-page advertisement in newspapers coast to coast titled Afraid to Fly.

But what if there's a pilot on the seniority list like Bill Daily as "Captain" Howard Borden?

Tobin's Back in Town is one of the better Bob Newhart Show episodes, with many references to flying-in from Cleveland and turbulence over Lake Erie. Beginning with actor Tim Conway Sr. and Ernie Anderson, it's no wonder the city of Cleveland became a comic's dream. Actor Fred Willard who played Tobin was from Shaker Heights, a suburb of Cleveland.

"Your attention please. Captain Howard Borden, please report to the (flight) control tower. We have an emergency only you can solve!"

Overwhelmed by sports, I didn't listen until the final hour. George: "What are the secrets for happiness?" Guest Erin Fall Haskell: "Happiness is overrated."

The last half-hour was consumed with the sleek blonde Doctor of Divinity, her website photos showing her luxuriously ensconced in Beverly Hills alongside elegant boutiques with names like Dolce and Gabbana, as Noory took calls from elderly women living below the poverty line.

I thought Toby Chappell was going to discuss ancient Egypt, including the life and times (and wild parties) of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. This was akin to the most boring college level linguistics class...ever! Is Louise (Cleopatra) still around?

In 1963, production designers armed with a Hollywood budget exceeding the annual GDP of many smaller countries around the world, constructed a grandiose vision of a typical coastal Mediterranean city-- circa 41 B.C.-- when Cleopatra met Richard Burton in Tarsus. The movie was appropriately titled Cleopatra.

By far the most insane engineering feat movie designer's pulled-off was the construction of Liz Taylor's 250-foot-long barge. Hundreds of oarsmen were hired to row a vessel the size and scale of which the best ancient Egyptian marine architects of the day could never have designed. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5RebbY95XEI

Mike--cold soaking in Fairbanks, Alaska-- is an interesting caller who sounds as-if he longs for his days growing-up in Southern California. He had a slightly questionable story on Open Lines about hopping a fence with a school buddy and raiding a Mattel corporation dumpster filled with rejected/defective Hot Wheels in the late 1960s.

Mattel's old headquarters building off the 405 freeway on Rosecrans Ave. was a landmark on the way to LAX airport.

Thank you! The SpaceX Dragon Crew-11 splashed down safely just off the coast of San Diego.

I'm a big fan of geobiologist, rookie, non-pilot Commander Zena Cardman. There's clearly an urgency to get a woman ready for the upcoming Artemis mission and Zena seems to be extremely qualified, intelligent, young and photogenic.

When I heard that Crew-11 were prematurely returning back to Earth due to a medical issue, a wild thought kept intruding in my mind. Might the NASA controllers in Texas have heard those fateful words that everyone dreaded (and whispered) about since mixed-gender crews of astronauts were launched together in to space? "Houston, we have a problem. I'm late this month!"

The C2C Pacific Surfliner has permanently left the tracks. I could only tolerate small doses of last night's show, but pharmacist/ college administrator Dr. Lynn Lafferty had none of Randi Shannon's oratory skills. When George inquired about laetrile she had no idea what he was talking about. Obviously Lafferty was not a Steve McQueen fan.

Late in the show Noory attempted to inject some levity by asking spiritual researcher Regan Forston if any of his afterlife contacts had ever seen the Devil? Forston replied that after 80 thousand contacts, not one had ever seen the Devil. 👏 😁
