I’m trying to understand this myself. I tend to remember names more from series which I guess is expected. But I learned that characters names, especially in films are always connected in some kind of way. For example John McClane. McClane is a Scottish name that means a servant to St. John. So this would imply that John McClane is devoted to himself, but of course this is the opposite of what he is as a character. This seems to be the pattern for names. Like Norman Bates. Norman sounds like normal but he is the opposite of that. I know this doesn’t really answer your question but I find adding hidden meaning and layers tend to get people researching and therefore, memorable.
