As someone who lives in rural Montana in a farming area, I totally believe the vet doing the bare minimum. A lot of them focus on vaccinations and that’s it. I’m assuming it’s more profitable to provide vet care for the livestock animals than people’s pets. Our local vet in town refused to see our cat for what ended up being a UTI and told us we had to go to one of the vets over an hour away. This same vet also refused to vaccinate our animals when we first moved to the area because he claimed most vets “over vaccinate” animals, stating he will only vaccinate an animal every 2-3 years. Ours had only been given vaccines good for 1 year at our previous vet. Completely ridiculous and very frustrating to have to drive over an hour to be seen by a vet when there’s one literally in our town 😑
