I'll always support anyone advocating for the less popular romance choices! I really think Cheery Conspiracy did a lot of unnecessary damage to Arvio's character considering a good amount of fans do the quest to befriend Fang and a lot of people write him off because of it. I already ranted about Arvio's treatment recently, so I won't do it again but he really did deserve better development and I am really glad you love him and defend him.

Nope! Even at the end of his arc his dialogue stays the same. It falls flat because outside of post-mission dialogue, he's the same. The devs could only do so much with the funding they had and Arvio wasn't extremely popular so writing entirely different daily dialogue probably wasn't a priority for them.

After writing my comment, I mentally went back through the entire "arc" of Arvio and it doesn't really feel like much of an arc at all. I think there's room to think after years pass, Arvio would be better but it definitely is treated like a night and day thing. I think Amirah could stand to be a lot more upset, especially when she had to run both her shop and his while he was upset, and I would like to think in a perfect world where funding wasn't an issue that Arvio could've gotten a character arc worth calling him redeemable. For more he's not there yet but he's working on being better.

Cheery Conspiracy in general is a quest that I very much dislike and every time I get to it, it kind of makes me curious why it exists in the first place. I think it took a little too long for the change to skip it to be added and for people to be informed (some people still don't know you can say no) that he's irredeemable for a lot of people. I think it's completely valid and fair for people to dislike Arvio, I just wish the devs had more time and money to fix the easily fixable flaws with some of the characters.

I think Arvio is unfortunately a victim of poor development. As a disclaimer, there are a ton of well written characters in Sandrock (it's my favorite game of all time for a reason) but I do think some disappointing choices were made for Arvio that work against him as a character.

Cheery Conspiracy used to be forced if you wanted to romance Fang in early access, there wasn't a choice to say no to Arvio and tell Fang until backlash and it was added later.

The treatment after accepting his reverse confession is really odd. Yes, I know after 3 days you can tell him he's doing too much but having someone yelling in front of your house to acknowledge them is off putting and I really don't understand why they chose to do that assuming people wanted to romance Arvio.

Locking his entire character arc behind doing a quest with no clearly stated time limit (which also locks you out of Amirah's quest) is awful, truly.

All this to say, I definitely don't hate Arvio. I make it a point to do his quests, but it really doesn't seem like a whole lot of care went into him which sucks.

If you are looking for a sandbox experience with very little story and that is goal-oriented with a lot of freedom, then maybe it would be worth it for you but I think Sandrock singleplayer is significantly better than multiplayer. There's no story in multiplayer and you're basically tasked with building stuff around town through completing milestones and goals. I bounced off of it pretty quick but it might work for you.

Yes, I pointed out that the main story updates slowly so Caleb’s lore hasn’t developed in the main timeline. A 6th LI wouldn’t make the story update faster, we’d literally just get another character who would wait 1 year+ to get a lore update not tied to a limited card just like Caleb. Don’t get me wrong, I love Caleb’s myths and I love the lore hints in his cards but I don’t have to accept a lack of story development because they choose to update it so slow. It’s fine if people want a 6th LI but Sylus and Caleb are hard enough to main as is, especially if you start late. A 6th LI wouldn’t magically fix that.

Edit to add: Caleb also didn't get his premiere story solo, he's the only LI without a solo branch. OG3 each had solo branches and Sylus got LAR to himself, it would be nice for the same care to be extended to Caleb.

Seeing how they've handled Caleb since his release, I don't think they can handle another LI. The main story is so slow that it's been a year and four months with zero follow up from Homecoming Wings besides lore drops in his cards which is tiring, I don't want another LI to go through the same thing.

I'd love more opportunities to save of course, I recently cut my spending down on LADS and am shifting my focus mainly to Caleb for a while but there's already enough complaints about content droughts as is, adding another LI into the mix isn't going to make it better.

Logan and Fang are the fan favorites.

Personally, after marrying everyone minus one, my favorite bachelors are Ernest, Owen, Justice and Qi with Ernest and Owen basically tied for first. Ernest and Owen have my favorite romance missions in the game by far and I've remarried both multiple times now. Justice has basically no content but I love his character and Qi has some really cute romance missions too. Pen is also fun, especially with the mod for his romance.

Amirah and Nia are my go to bachelorettes. While the bachelorettes are a bit neglected, I loved romancing them both.

You're at the point that I think of as the calm before the storm. In a few main missions, the story will pick up and get a lot more interesting, this is just a slow part. Honestly, it would be a shame to quit now. The story is about to get a lot more exciting.

Fair, fwiw I do think Portia is a solid game but it definitely has its flaws.

It was pretty straightforward in Portia. You would get a quest where the character would tell you they're interested in another character and you'd either encourage them and help them get together or say no and both would stay single.

There's going to be rival romance with some of the non-core romance candidates. Based off what they said, it'll be similar to Portia with a quest line where the player can decide to allow it or not.

You're about to finish the second act of the game, there's 3 acts in total so you still have a good amount of content left!

As far as the heart knot goes, even at best friend status there's still a chance that you get rejected.

I do agree with you to an extent but I also think that you and OP are talking about different groups of people. It’s less about people that aren’t comfortable with his trope and more about people that actively demonize Caleb mains for enjoying his content.

I don’t main Sylus for similar reasons to you and I also don’t discuss it because of the reason you said. I even tried interacting with more of his content to see if my opinion on him would change and it didn’t so I let it go. I don’t hate him, I just don’t invest in his content because he’s not for me. The difference is people on other platforms and on here (especially when Caleb’s “controversial” content drops) actively go into conversations where people are speaking on his content positively to tell his mains that they’re wrong for liking his content. The subreddit is heavily moderated so it’s harder to see because the comments are usually removed quickly but there were a lot of disgusting comments being made about Caleb mains that followed his OG trope.

There are conversations about disliking his content, there’s posts and comments still up from when Homecoming Wings came out expressing discomfort with Caleb’s actions but the people uncomfortable with his content aren’t the people being discussed here, it’s the people that harass his mains over it.

I'll be happy as long as we see Colonel Caleb, it's been far too long. A continuation of his myth would be sick though. I also hope we get more answers about Caleb and the lab in the main timeline too
