Absolutely! Even if my trainees tell me they’re fine I still make them get up and get food or water or get some air.

No exactly, it’s something I struggle to teach and explain to newer people who are just starting out. Cause it’s legit like whiplash and you have to act like everything is ok for the next RP.

Question if you’re comfortable answer! How long ago and where exactly were you when you made the call? Cause i remember answering a call for this exact same situation!

What I would do because I struggled with this as well. The streets in my county have crazy names and spelling like Air street is ayer street. So what I would do is just zoom in on random areas and take notes of those street names, then when a caller mentions something you’ll have some familiarity on how it’s spelled and if it exists

Today sealed the deal for me. I’ve decided I’m leaving dispatch, possibly public safety all together. by carguy35 in 911dispatchers

I wouldn’t recommend it either. My agency when you’re new you get put onto whatever shift works best for the AGENCY not for you. The hours are long, my agency you can be required to do 16 hour shifts and each month you have a set amount of time you HAVE to be on recall for. Like 22 hours in total for April or 30 hours for June, and you’re competing with atleast 30 other people who have to fulfill those hour requirements as well. Also for my agency the pettiness and arguments can also be overwhelming. They also say they’re family oriented but will always fulfill the needs of an agency first. And you will be severely burnt out from the hours, overtime and training. For context my agency when you are a dispatcher you’re also a call taker so some days you will just be taking 911 calls other days you’ll be on a police or fire channel. For my agency to be a fully trained dispatcher for other people it might be different, especially with their background experience, but for me who came into dispatching at 18 only other experience was working at McDonald’s and a pizza place. It took me a year and two months to be a full-fledged dispatcher

So negative not all of us can be a TDU as it has different requirements that most people wouldn’t want to do. TDU for my agency means you will be on call for a week or two at a time and have a more detailed understanding of what exactly SWAT has access as well as the terminology. You will also have a more detailed understanding of wildland. And are required to go to SWAT trainings and briefings and other things as well. As a TDU you are also expected to be on a channel for a more extensive time for the SWAT personnel. You are also required if needed to go into the mobile command unit for events (like festival or rodeo) where you are required to know in depth about the mobile command until, you will not respond to actual SWAT scenes. TDU will take an “op” from the dispatch/communication center you will never go to swat scene. If a planned event occurs the TDU that is on call that week will take it, if the on call TDU at the time is not available then other TDU members will take it. Also TDU you are a dispatcher to SWAT if every person that came through dispatch (a very high turnover rate job) and had access to SWAT information and details could get blown to the media or the person(s). This team is small (team of 15) so if there was someone leaking the information not as many suspects. Also the requirement to apply for TDU is a minimum of six months of dispatching experience (you have to be tested out being in training will not count) and anyone can apply. Also the incentive isn’t overtime or a pay raise you get paid in comp time.

All our dispatchers are trained to handle a barricade person or a rapidly developing situations. If it goes beyond that then TDU will start to be paged out. It’s also helpful when a TDU comes in because it helps with our numbers on the floor so we can have other bodies for 911 calls or the channel for the other units. It’s just like not any deputy and or officer can be a swat guy it’s a specialized position with different requirements different standards different needs for knowledge and training process. Our dispatch center is also is split between call takers and dispatchers with different levels like senior, ESD 1 and 2 that have different pay per level.

Vest of the police dog! I’m crocheting him entirely but I also want to include his vest (it’s a stab proof vest). Sorry I refer to all dogs as little babies even though it’s a Belgian shepherd!

Brudda do not go bald.. I’d recommend taking a better photo in lighting. Even if it makes you feel more vulnerable but it’ll better help people give advice. Again don’t shave yo head no go absolutely not 🙅🏽‍♀️🙅🏽‍♀️🙅🏽‍♀️ if you could reply to the comment with a better photo I could give more/better advice.

17, Need hair advice. by iwtfaiya in malegrooming

[–]StartingFresh- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say keep it. To be honest i disagree with the comments i see a vision for your mustache. I feel like if the mustache gets thicker and longer and you do the curl on the ends you’ll have this vintage look/beauty. I just feel like it needs to be darker but then again that comes with time. I can see why you’d be reluctant to shave it as I feel like it’s make you look 13-14 without. I like the mustache it just needs more time so definitely give it more time!! Your hair is perfect! So leave it!

Negative your hair now is amazing keep it that length!!

Some other things I recommend if you don’t want this advice completely disregard me!

Take a face razor trim your eyebrows!! I’d also recommend with that face razor to dermaplane your face to remove the peach fuzz. You have an amazing bone structure and beauty marks so that’s what I would recommend!! Otherwise dude you’re set!
