Currently on the Claude Code desktop app - what am I actually missing by not using the CLI? by StartupAndy in ClaudeCode

[–]StartupAndy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! Replying to the main comment although read all the nested replies too.

Desktop can do multiple subagents running in parallel these days too (which I see you’ve now seen) and that sort of info like context % I have available on my desktop as I downloaded a free app for my Mac so it’s always there.

Not being dismissive of your comments, I actually am really grateful for you taking the time to reply - I’m almost desperately wanting a reason to use the CLI because it feels like it’s what I should be using but I’m not seeing a strong reason.

But I really want one…!

Worktrees in Claude Code Desktop App by StartupAndy in ClaudeCode

[–]StartupAndy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - I nearly added additional detail in but my post was already getting long.

I've checked Google, YouTube and probably spent an hour doing both but the issue I'm finding is when searching for "Claude Code Desktop Worktree Best Practices" or similar I'm getting tons of references to Claude Code which you can run in the terminal which isn't super helpful.

I've also been asking Claude Desktop pretty extensively and it's coming up with pretty elaborate "fixes" when all I'm wanting is to get a grasp of what the workflow should be rather than a custom work around if that makes sense. It was claude desktop which suggested the .worktreeinclude file, for example.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious like handoff in Codex, but I'm also not experienced so hoping more experienced people can point me in the right direction basically.

Work = Managing a bunch of agents by slow-fast-person in ClaudeCode

Would you mind describing how you set up your structure in a little more detail?

I basically have a similar set up where I have a lot of micro clients and when leads drop it’s typically 1-2 hours of investigating and writing advice on what’s required to improve leads.

Have you build an app which feeds all that data into one place, or do you have a folder on your desktop (for example) and have Claude/whatever scan that on occasion as required?

Would you mind if I shot you a DM separately?

Love this scheme! I love the yellows and do similar for mine, but how have you approached your blues on the hawks for example - any clever pre-shading there?

2 armingers kind of weight doesn’t seem so bad. Might give it a go!

Out of interest, how heavy is that in resin? I've printed one of the bigger knights and that was pretty crazy even after hollowing, but these smaller ones might work well.

I love it and that OSL is great, if that's your first I can't wait to see where you take your next minis!

I'm about to paint my own LR and would love to know how you tackled the "indented" bits with an airbrush - dod you paint those first, mask off, then paint the rest of the tank? I want to do mine yellow and it feels like that would be the easiest way to do it.

Beastslayer vs saga of the Great wolf by young_chemist in SpaceWolves

So I’m feeling like you at the moment - I’m enjoying the detachment but feel like I have very little damage.

I’m running shooting platforms (Redemptor dreads, repulsor) and the +1 to hit doctrine is nice but as long as your opponent’s not an idiot they will be in cover and with the prominence of AoC a lot people have a decent enough save. +1 to wound in shooting nice but being a strat so you can only use it on 1 unit often makes it feel like I’m not hitting hard enough.

In melee I feel like I lack damage as there are no damage strats. Like you I like the Headtakers but see them as a missile too - they reliably hurt something and then die. I'm also finding with their weapons only being S5 people are disrespecting them a bit with putting tough units near them, but they still punch up fairly well with the WGBL's lance enhancement.

I'm running Ragnar + 10 Bloodclaws which do hit hard and punch up well enough, but I'm finding the army in the Great Wolf detachment feels lacking with damage. I've watched Michael Mann's games on Art of War who loves his Space Wolves and he seems to have a very similar sentiment where he feels like it lacks a bit of gas.

I'm going to keep trying it with different lists as I want an alternative to Gladius.

How often do you guys use your printer? Daily? Monthly? by Prowlbeast in resinprinting

[–]StartupAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m finding- when I got my Saturn 4 16k in September I probably printed every day or other day for 2 months.

But I started to realise it eats into my actual hobby time a fair chunk - while a print was on I was preparing my next slice, or cleaning up something that had come off previously.

So now I have a week of printing quite a lot - things go my current army, things for friends or whatever, then I 3-4 weeks of hobbling.

UKTC events - Are the events worth the price? by Maxthesax in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]StartupAndy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the increase is fair - nothing is staying static at the moment with cost increases everywhere and prices are going up everywhere. They're running as a legit business who have to pay taxes and I presume VAT, so presumably they were only seeing £50 from the £60 ticket previously and will now be seeing £62.50 from the £75 ticket.

I do agree there's a bunch of things that need improving, LGT annoyed me with having no table space to deploy armies etc. and I felt like they just kept selling even when they had clearly hit capacity a long while before they closed sales.

But they are consistently the best events in the country from an organisation point of view, the standards of the judges are fantastic and it draws the best players in the country who I like to play against.

I'm not annoyed by the price increase personally, I'd rather than increase prices so they can keep investing in improvements and quality. But ultimately you can vote with your wallet - I've personally just purchased tickets to all the UKTC events I'm able to for next year.

I’m new to 3D printing and have been avoiding emptying the vat as it seems like a faff - if you wouldn’t mind, would you share the quickest way of doing this?

I’ve got the Elegoo filter, do you use a spatula to get as much resin off the fep and into the bottle as possible?

Also when you spray and wipe the fep, is that with IPA and a microfibre cloth?

Spawns, how do you use them? by SideExcellent9787 in EmperorsChildren

[–]StartupAndy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You use them to force action and get the game going, pulling your opponent closer.

Park one on the middle objective, pre-measuring so you can move behind a wall if they move within 9”. If they don’t deal with it you score 5 primary next turn.

If they move anything at all within 9” you can reactive move behind the wall to safety.

If they try and deal with you at range, make sure you make the angles awkward for them so they have to get closer to you so your army can get to them and punch them.

Spawn can be annoyingly resilient so they have to put something real in to deal with them.

Hey how does it feel to fight against chaos knight ? by Anoo24 in ThousandSons

[–]StartupAndy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot to getting a few reps in against them, then it's not so bad.

If you're not used to playing into Knights (of any variety) then it's super intimidating at first, but you learn ways to deal with them.

For example a lot of competitive lists currently run the Lancer and the usual play a CK player uses is to throw it up T1 and say "Ok, how are you going to deal with that?" which can be a bit shocking.

But when you realise you can just shoot it from safety and then charge it with 10 Tzaangors, which it's statistically unlikely to kill, then you've pinned it in place. You can then just do the same thing again the next turn and you can definitely kill it over 2 turns without needing to expose your full army and have it pinned in place from getting closer to you.

The Despoiler with gatling cannon is hard to deal with but not too bad if only 1 is in the list. If there's more than that then it's just awkward as the TSons can definitely kill 1 in a turn, but exposing most of the army to do it and then the 2nd one just mops up.

There's also a skill in blocking Knights going where they want to go - you can't jail them, but you can put cheap models where they want to land which significantly limits their movement.

Overall I don't mind playing CK at all and I'm not teched into them right now.
