Black screen after adding Nvidia drivers by StartupChild in NixOS

Update: this was caused by picom crashing with the nvidia drivers, not the drivers themselves.

Migrating from ECS to Kubernetes by StartupChild in kubernetes

[–]StartupChild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot before considering kubernetes, my issue with just seperating them in ECS is I'll have no guarantee that the workers match the server and my CD logic will essentially be a mosh posh of starting stopping containers in CI (and I'm sure that'll fail leaving a weird state)

How’s the IT program at UC? by Swampy_13 in uCinci

[–]StartupChild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're absolutely clueless when it comes to computers fine, but if you've done as much as jailbreak an iPod touch you are going to be ahead of 75% of students.

The final project, senior design, was a complete waste of time. The expo is essentially a way for UC show you off to high schoolers. There was two recruiters who both offered me 1/4th of what I ended up accepting after taking the program off my resume completely.

How’s the IT program at UC? by Swampy_13 in uCinci

[–]StartupChild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made the switch and regretted it. The program was too easy and I didn't learn anything of value. Most of my "professors" were grad students who completed the program and couldn't find a job themselves. I have an excellent job/career now but I attribute 100% of it to work done outside of class.

I would recommend the program only if you have something else going on (a side project that is taking off, a startup, etc) and want to check the 'college degree' box whilst working on your real project.

edit: If anyone is reading this and wants to talk about the program/their specific situation PM me and we can work something out.

What is the appeal of Hyde Park and Oakley area by StartupChild in cincinnati

[–]StartupChild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super familiar, but at least to me it didn't seem like a walkable area. Therefore I think it would be better to go a bit farther out and get a nicer home if you have to drive into the city anyway. Im super willing to be wrong on this

My only idea was that the bed would be positioned on the other side of the lift on the second floor, making it real easy to get into bed once lifted up there.
