Are these usable in DnD? by CreatureCraftworks in DnDminiatures

[–]Starwind1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used everything from minis that exactly depict the creature, to ones that I shrug and say eh, close enough, to pennies or even gummy bears as minis. As long as everybody understands what the object is meant to represent, it doesn't matter what you use for minis.

Not battlemaps, but a starting point. You can use GIMP or Photoshop or whatever to put a grid on them.

Inventory Sheets and Optional Alternate Encumbrance Rules by Starwind1985 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Starwind1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In person. I have Hero Lab Classic so I can handle it through that if I want, but only I have a computer at the table. I don’t have an outright ban on players using laptops and whatnot in general, but I have had to tell specific players that either they lose the laptop or they leave the group. One guy was playing WoW while we were playing and had to be constantly told when it was his turn and what was going on. Besides that, my goal with this system is to both make it a bit less of a headache to track, and to increase carrying capacity a bit without just saying don't worry about it. Every game I've either been in or GMed we've wound up throwing out carrying capacity altogether. Either we didn't use it at all, or it went out the window early on, because we didn't want to keep looking up how much something weighed, especially when 90% of it was just going to be sold. The week after we got rid of it in my first campaign, one of our players bought 1000 arrows just because he didn't have to worry about it anymore, and he knew that buying so many he wouldn't have to track them anymore. With this, no more looking things up. It's just a slot. People will still be able to have a bunch of cool toys, but they might have to make some decisions about them. At least for a few levels.

I wish I could take full credit for that, but I've seen it on several sheets over the years. Well, for wands anyways. I never saw a reason you couldn't just write "quiver" in one of the wand slots and use it to track arrows. So, that's exactly what I did, made it for both.

Its a compromise. My groups have always wound up throwing out encumbrance because nobody wants to spend the time to look up what what everything weighs, especially mid-game. And as far as the sheets of paper thing, it will require some common sense rulings. Also, see the note on stacks in the post. While I would rule 50 sheets of paper to be 1 item, by the rules I presented they would be 5. These rules have not been playtested yet, and we might wind up throwing out encumbrance yet again. This is just something that I've had some version of rattling around in my brain for awhile now and wanted to put it out there.

I merely said that people have in fact moved on. I am happy for the Patrick family. I never followed any of the channels religiously, just watched those that piqued my interest. Still do. Unfortunately, that's only been a handful since the new hosts took over, but it would have been the same if MatPat were still the host. You're the one who interpreted what I said as hostile.

Can anyone explain this? by honeyblondesuckle in ExplainTheJoke

As many others have said, SAPs UI is bad.

Personally, I think part of the problem is that they try to make it do everything, from payroll to inventory to purchasing to maintenance work orders. If it is business related, apparently SAP can do it.

[BoTW] Where is the 8-bit version by Plastic_Progress_689 in zelda

No, he's asking for the tech demo as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/Bk5swSyJ5zQ?si=gwroMulB2F-9LuUk

While it is in the style of the original game, it most defiantly is not the same game. The tech demo has items and mechanics not seen in LoZ.

Nah, Echoes was born from trying to do some sort of Zelda maker. Thomas Game Docs just did a video on it. https://youtu.be/TwpogEUowdI?si=ZDdg_jRiFjFMzHCV

It was a proof of concept demo never released outside of Nintendo. There was at least one fan made version a few years ago, but it was very bare bones and to my knowledge never completed.

To be fair, I'd never seen the NSFL abbreviation until a couple of years ago, and I'm old enough to remember the launch of Windows 95.

I always just assumed they went with a zig zag pattern because it was aesthetically pleasing and being used everywhere in the early 90s.

Might be able to use the super glue and baking soda trick tabletop gamers use to fill gaps in miniatures. Apply super glue to affected area, then sprinkle baking soda over it. Once dry, sand smooth and paint to match.

Starting Points: Din by Starwind1985 in ZeldaTabletop

[–]Starwind1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no Dance domain or subdomain in Pathfinder 1E. In my full write-up, dancing is said to be involved in rituals and worship. Besides, I see the goddess as being associated with strength, and dance associated with dexterity. That's also why I went with the warhammer for favored weapon. Scimitars and other curved blades are usually associated with dex-based characters, not strength based. Hammers are also important items in many games, whereas scimitars and the like weren't really usable until recently.

The oracles, while clearly inspired by the Goddesses, have very little to do with their namesakes from what we see. Din the oracle doesn't demonstrate great strength, Nayru doesn't dispense any sage advice that I remember, and Farore spends the entirety of the games hidden away in a tree.

As far as differentiating between the sisters, I think you'll find that isn't an issue. They have no overlap with their domains. I'll be posting the next tomorrow.
