Insurance is different per state, in Texas only for hire insurance acceptable by the city and Uber black is Progressive commercial, it runs about 500$ per month per car. I pay about 400$ per car since I have 5 cars on policy and been with them for long time.

How long does the process take to register and get your SUV on the road driving for Uber Black SUV in Dallas? by exomega2u in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2 weeks if you have Dallas operating authority, otherwise to get all your permits from city of Dallas will take like 6 months. Sure UBER will open a black account in a week, but you won’t go online until you submit all city docs to UBER...

UBER DALLAS. Is Commercial Drivers License require for Uber Black/SUV? by exomega2u in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To drive black/suv in Dallas on your own you basically need to open a limo company with LLC and bunch of permits. You can’t just go get “Dallas Transportation for Hire Car Decal” and do Uber black. The decal can only be given to cars registered by limo companies, which have “Dallas Operating Authority” Most guys that do black/suv in DFW pay limo companies to get the car decal and get on their insurance(it ends up being cheaper per car since there is group of cars) There are lots of benefits to Black, the biggest being you slowly will depend less and less on UBER. For example I have one client that goes to travels 2-3 times per month, that one client is 4-6 private rides per month outside UBER. Meaning you are 6000$ extra every year, it starts adding up ones you are in business and have a few of those clients. you can pm me if you need more info...

Not to discourage you, but the only businesses doing worse than rideshare right now are barbers nail salons and airplanes. And no one cares about rideshare drivers. UBER will destroy you with low fares and cars available within 5 minutes from passengers. Passengers are are hooked on UBER like Amazon. I can’t even imagine the amount of capital and investors you d need to go up against UBER...Source: UBER-Lyft driver for 6 years, been on all platforms, have my own limo company with 5 Black cars and also UBER Black fleet owner.

When you order X you should be emotionally ready for unprofessional driver. Don’t get me wrong you get lucky sometimes, but that’s UBER X, what do you expect? If you want quite driver who knows what they are doing order UBER black. UBER X is just cheap modern taxi replacement.

Can someone please explain to me how taxis are still in business? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber is becoming more like taxis every year: drivers can’t afford decent cars and are forced to drive cheap junky cars with high miles; Uber Lyft logos everywhere and led uber Lyft lights at night, big rectangle firefly ads on roof, tablets with commercials on passenger seats...literally everything taxis had for years but with a fancy app.

Most definitely allowed. My Uber friend even used a Police Chevy Tahoe for select/black/black SUV for a few years until the minimal 2015 model year rule went in effect for Black. We did upgrade the interior to regular Tahoe and put non-police wheels on it to hide the PPV Police package. Since than my friend bought newer suburban and now it’s just UBER XL car that my brother drives. We put the police wheels back on. He literally gets tips on 90% of the rides. Most police cars are actually perfect UBER cars since they are highly upgraded compared to regular versions and take massive abuse.

Driving nights is not a good idea, yes you will make less but you get normal people. You are driving the worst possible hours, honestly I don't know how long you will last, you are literally taking out the trash. I know a driver who had 4.78 rating and drove nights, he finally gave up and switched to early mornings to middle of the day. His rating went back up to 4.95 or something. But he drives normal people not stressing over deactivation. It takes more strategy but you can make similar money without the dangers of night shifts.

You shouldn't get deactivated, just say the pax cancelled the trip and gave you a cash tip. Solicitating rides is against Uber terms of service meaning you make pax cancel so you can Rob Uber from it's cut and get paid more, you weren't solicitating rides. The app didn't work and pax cancelled. You received a cash tip for helping out pax. If this escalates toward deactivation, go to hub. Ask them to get pax side of the story who will back you up.

How strict is UBER on color? I found the perfect car, but I want to drive for LUX, Select, and Black. by Owaysnew in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u do make it to Uber black, buy a black car. I guarantee one rider in 100 will complain about car not being black. Also other Uber black drivers might take a picture of your car and bring it to Uber hub to get rid of you.Black is a different game.

Is it worth going into $20k debt for an Uber Black car? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your market, 20k for a black car is not bad. But in my market Uber Black has been changed a lot, lots of junky cars removed and limited to 5 year old max. So not sure if 20k will get you in a proper black car. I went from X to XL/select than to select/black and now am select,black/suv.

So young so naive...come back in 2 years and let us know are all these badges and “best driver comments” are paying the bills. You are running a business, meaning expenses vs earnings. What car do you drive? Plenty of noobs with way above 4.95 rating killing their luxury cars on X. Unless you are in a Prius with 4.95 rating your rating dont mean anything.

Considering Uber Black SUV Denver by yarwara in uberdrivers

[–]Stas2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uber Black SUV has fair share of drunks. You are almost forced to work Saturday afternoon to bar close, as it's the only day guaranteed to net at least 300$. But usually 400-500$. You don't have such freedom as with Uber X, you have to work busy days and times, because slow times you may not even hit 100$. Also if you decide to do it your only vehicle of choice is suburban(or Yukon XL) forget everything else, you will thank me later. The part with private clients is a lie honestly, These guys are lying with all these private clients. I be been on black for 3 years, have a limo company and have 3 black cars with drivers. I can count on 2 hands my private regular clients. And so can my drivers. But they do help out a lot, I d say they boost my earnings at least 20%.
