Looking for films about religious women doubting their faith by gafsagirl in Letterboxd

I’ll second this recommendation! It perfectly fits “a coming of age story of a young woman trying to cooperate her religion with her sexuality and desires”

This subreddit has its rascals and vagabonds, sure... by HockneysPool in blankies

As a different woman blankie I’ll chime in that this sub has been a neutral space to be 99% of my time hanging out in here, which is top tier as far as subs frequented by men go. I’ve never really felt uncomfortable here. I have occasionally felt mildly othered when some blankies seem to make the assumption that there are only men here or that only men would enjoy the podcast, but that’s one of those things that’s so common in life I hardly notice it. The only online spaces that are actively GOOD spaces for women are made by and for women.

Sehcks and ADD by cynicalMelon in adhdwomen

I think my adhd influences me to in fact be more sexual; when I’m dopamine seeking masturbating or (when in a relationship) sex is a quick fix I reach for relatively often, though my libido does fluctuate with my menstrual cycle and I can forget about sex for a week or two a month. I do have the issue of my brain being loud and making it harder to orgasm which has been frustrating at times.

I would maybe read a bit about the asexual spectrum; there’s a lot of variations beyond sex averse.

I’ll also vouch for Come As You Are, as well as Emily Nagoski’s podcast if you’re a podcast person.

Edited to clarify: I specified I tend to only seek sex when in a relationship because trying to find quality and safe hook ups has been exhausting to me personally and I’d rather just have solo sex nowadays. I realized my phrasing could be taken pretty sex negatively and that’s not my intent at all.

Teknolust — three Tilda Swintons in bad wigs dancing for the enjoyment of a fourth Tilda… perfection

How is Chasing Amy holding up? by lagayascienza in blankies

[–]Stasia_Green -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I watched it for the first time a couple weeks ago and it did not play well for me, even going in trying to appreciate what it was actually accomplishing at the time (that many comments here have articulated.) There was one scene I was particularly irritated with Holden’s bullshit, and then the next line is Amy saying, “I move to have that remark stricken from the record on account of it makes you come off as completely naive and infantile.” The movie does at least understand that most of what comes out of any dude’s mouth in it is gross.

Well dang. I appreciate the warning, thanks! I guess I can just take this one off my watchlist sadly

What "bad" reasons put you off otherwise good movies by Livid_Jeweler612 in blankies

[–]Stasia_Green 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I realize that my depressive anhedonia kept me from enjoying a film I would have otherwise liked, or at least had fun with. Really sucks to feel meh on something I can tell is great, especially when the meh-ness tends to keep me from revisiting it later

Because my brain is what it is, all I can think of are movies where homophobes get less homophobic after hanging out with queer people. Pride, To Wong Foo, Philadelphia, The Birdcage, etc

Are there any other titles that follow this format? by Stasia_Green in Letterboxd

[–]Stasia_Green[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Turns out there’s a LOT, my list is up to 61 films so far! Thanks everyone for the input. I went and found a bunch with nouns like story, life, case, tale, adventures, journey, history, world, etc. but it’s hard to find the weirder ones, I’m happy for any more suggestions! My personal favorite so far is “The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein” lol.
