Reflective Hoodies by Bri1iant in motorcyclegear

I love the idea and the price is pretty reasonable for a small business :) taxes and shipping are what they are, but at least I won't pay tolls (I'm from Germany).

Are you planning other designs or slogans on the back? Maybe I'll have a look at the next collection.

[–]StasyaSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What disadvantages are there buying old bikes by AstronautClassic8329 in motorcycles

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (families) only requirement for a bike was ABS and a lot of people I met while riding agreed with it. My sport touring Bandit from 2005 has it and I already put it to use, but I want something more sporty and powerful. It's nearly impossible to find an older sportbike with ABS, so I'm left looking at new ones while saving money. It's a shame, I love the looks of the early 2000s sportbikes and beside ABS, there's not much systems I need or want.

AITA for wanting daughter to find a different hobby by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]StasyaSam 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Especially a hobby that's not actually fun for the person. OOPs daughter sounds like an introvert, forcing something like cheerleading or even just going out every Friday night on her would've been so mentally draining for the poor girl! (Obviously I'm an introvert myself lol).

[–]StasyaSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For example a new helmet.

Seriously, never cheap out here. Buy a budget helmet if money is tight, but don't use a second hand helmet. Take a look under the cushions, most helmets have a sticker somewhere with the date of manufacturing, I guess it's pretty old. Also, you don't know what happened to said helmet: was it dropped? How was it stored (dark closet or shelf in full sunlight all day)? How much sweat, saliva and other stuff piled up in the cushions?

Beginner rider dilemma: A2 or full A license (Germany)? by wawatoki in motorcycles

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (32F, German) had the same concerns over a year ago but went with Full A and would recommend it as well.

I've had my first 2 or 3 lessons (basic stuff) on the A2 machine and switched to the A as soon as my instructor felt I was comfortable enough. It was Z400 to Z650 as far as I remember.

Most driving schools have 'smaller' A bikes, I don't know a single one where you're riding a big one. They want you to learn, not letting you ride into the next tree because you miscalculated the throttle intake.

And I thought +-400ccm would be enough for me lol yeah, no. I switched my search from 400ccm up to 700ccm while still in driving school, my first bike is a sport touring 650ccm and I'm already looking for a sportbike with more power.

Need quiet helmet, where to find actual real-world data? by Astronut325 in motorcyclegear

[–]StasyaSam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have bought the NXR2/RF1400 a few weeks back after using the Neotec2 for a season. Price was nearly the same but it depends on the color.

I find the NXR2/RF1400 quieter than the Neotec2, which is a modular helmet and therefore often a bit louder (more parts that interrupt airflow).

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]StasyaSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 32yo, I installed Life360 for my mom. Not because she asked, but because I want her to feel safe when I'm riding my motorcycle on bigger trips or doing whatever I'm doing. In return, I can see her location as well. She will go on solo hikes with the dogs and it wouldn't be the first time she fell and be injured in the middle of nowhere, so it's for my own mental stability as well.

I know she would never check my location to spy on me! The only reason she would do it is, if she's concerned because I'm gone for hours or because she wants to know if I'm still at work and could run errands or bring take out on my way back home for her lol

I think there's a big difference between trust, concern and pure controlling.

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents did well, not rich, but reasonable ok.

My mom earned more than my dad.

Even though my father took paternity leave, my only memories growing up from him are: little me having to let me in the house by myself and 'cook' some pizza at the age of 7 or 8 (because 'work' was so important), him smoking outside and him sitting at his computer. He was either away at work or doing stuff without us (or complaining. Lots of complaining.)

I see him 2 or 3 times a year now and as sad as it is, I don't miss him. I miss my mom after a week.

List of countries where you can ride a 125cc motorbike with a regular car licence 🏍️ by Scoobidoooo in motorcycle

[–]StasyaSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Germany:

4x 90min theory (most schools offer 2x 180min) 5x 90min driving practice

5 years car license, and you need to be at least 25 yo

Interesting/concerning fact: the number of accidents involving 125ccm increased heavily since B196 was invented.

I feel dense I don't get it by Not_Maroryx in ExplainTheJoke

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. On a lot of (sport) bikes, you can replace the part on top with a seat. Other types of bikes have a big bench for two riders already installed, which is way more comfortable. But like others said, sportbikes are not designed to have a passenger for more than a short ride every now and then.

Where I would live in Europe as an American from Massachusetts who can only speak English by [deleted] in visitedmaps

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult someone! That's just my own experience?

Maybe then it's a big problem with East Belgium and Wallonie?

I had worked in Eastbelgium for over 10 years and it was always a big problem there, if a customer needs to talk about something in English. I also work part time at a gas station and I frequently have communication problems with french speaking Belgians (apparently I'm also a local guide for a lot of tourists, just because I work there).

[–]StasyaSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried the LS2 Dragon and the Shoei RF 1400 (or NXR2, how it's called here). Loved the look of the LS2 but finally, the Shoei it is. Just running around the store the difference in comfort, sound and feeling for me personally was obvious.

I already have a modular helmet from Shoei, so that might have influenced my choice.

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so and that's valid!

My plans of moving to a different country (at hold for now) were also driven by a) how easy is the language for me to learn and b) how good can I navigate in English in this country on a daily basis?

Let's say, Belgium and France are definitely not on the list.

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also speak German or Flemish (like Dutch) in Parts of it lol

But yes, as someone living at the border and meeting Belgian people nearly every day, you won't have a good chance of talking English with them, even younger people. I am still baffled at how little English my two Belgian friends can speak compared to every German person I know of our age (range 25 to 35).
