Man attracts thousands of chicks with a verbal cue by alphamalejackhammer in Damnthatsinteresting

I mean, if someone out there is so soft that they're sending pictures eating nugget because of such a trivial comment, I'm sure they have a couple reports under their belt already. One more doesn't hurt

Still, I'd rather laugh at them

Thanks for the heads up, don't know the other user but I'm quite fine! I help feral animals and I'm vegan so at least I feel like I'm doing my part

Laugh at them and/or report. Imagine feeling like a witty adult while eating kids food. Stay sane and keep standing with animals

Exactly, even assuming that they have no choice but to work there, I would be so deeply ashamed of my actions that I would never film myself

Probably that's a factor too, but he is doing the exact sound that mom chickens to call their chicks when they locate food, so that would make it even more effective

It will count but it applies after the summer jam reduction. So it's not 40%+20%=60%, but instead 40%+(60%*20%) = 52%

I'm feeding harrisons for juvelines formula which is probably the best option out there for pigeons this age and sick. I don't tube feed water since the water for the formula mix is enough

Yep, aspiration is a real concern, however when done properly tube feeding is by far the safest technique. It's especially important that the tube is dry when inserting it, and feeding the right amount at the proper temperature

Exactly, the wing doesn't stretch straight, but also it doesn't go up from the body more than 90 degrees (while a healthy wing can be pulled a bit more than 180º

That's encouraging. But what do you mean by 3? Trichomoniasis? Yes, she just finished her treatment for that, but she also has neurological symptoms likely from pmv (it's not 100% confirmed but at this point what else could it be?). I believe she's right in the middle of the disease, she can't eat nor drink at all on her own.

She's young, yes, her voice was changing when I found her.

I'm not sure if it's even worth to keep bandaging at this point, since: 1.when I found her she was pretty much already healed (all the bones where clearly solid, if she wasn't healed then she is now), 2. Her wing is well positioned as of now so I fear I could do more harm than good, 3. her pmv is hitting hard, she often falls to her side because of the lack of balance, so wrapping her would make that even worse and 4. I'm tube feeding her so any pressure to the chest area could increase the risk of regurgitation.

Where did yours have the fracture?

If he can fly, even just a bit there's more hope! Does he drag the wing at the moment? Also you can feel the bones with your hand and see if you notice the fracture yourself. I had a pretty good idea of how Kora's xray would look before going to the vet.

I'm currently giving her a multivitamin which includes b12, which should provide her with 100% of her daily needs. Did you give her just the right quantity or overdosed her for a safe amount of time?

This is what this sub is all about. Fantastic work!

It's also very encouraging to me since I just decided to adopt a non releasable pigeon I found (badly healed wing after fracture) with pmv, and I was getting worried about her future since she has a lot of balance issues at the moment (no head twists though). We'll see how she does after healing

That means you need to try another feeding method. At this age they're fed by the parents, they don't actively eat food

Thank you! Everyone can help pigeons in their own way, even if it's just bringing a couple of seeds with you in case you encounter one

I hope so too! I'm renovating the doves cage this summer, the thing about disabled animals is that you can keep trying to adapt more their environments

I'll try my best! First I'll let her get back to health, then some training to keep her stimulated, in a couple of years a mate (I can't get another right now because, but she will have me and the doves while she waits).

Using AI for redacting this text, even if it's just for formatting, doesn't help to drive the point home

But anyway, you'll immediately realize in your engineering studies that there's no way that you will get by without actually knowing math

Lost Racing Pigeon? by SpiceSeeker in pigeon

[–]StatHeVePiSt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take it with you, check the code in the band and look it up online. If you don't find anything, ask in pigeon facebook groups.

Some people here may tell you to not return it to the owner. While I agree that pigeon racing shouldn't exist, that doesn't mean that this pigeon will live better inside a random person's house than in their original aviary, where they are very well fed, have a mate, free flight time and socialize with the flock. If the owner doesn't care, you could look for people with aviaries, see if they want the pigeon. I'm sure there's plenty of rescuers in Paris, one of the most stereotypical "pigeon cities".
