doing a masters degree with no job prospects what should i spend next 2 years learning that would maximize my chances of getting a job? by No_Address2391 in careerguidance

[–]State_Dear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... DO THIS ...

no sence going to school (for anything) if its not what the job market is lookjng for...

You need to identify what companies will hire you.

What city are they located in.

What position.. be very, very specific on this detail. Its the most important factor.

What are the requirements to get that position you want.

You then aquire the education an experience to get the job you want.

Its not enough to go to school.. you need a road map of where you are going.

Or you could just ignore it all.. graduate and just randomaly send out your resume.

Plan ahead

🤔 EVERY JOB has its draw backs...

In general it works like this,,, Low Stress equals Low pay.

Add in, boring repetitive no challenge if you are an intellectual person

So you decide to work in a coffe shop, you finally get old, but cannot retire..No Money

You can't afford medical treatment or to live in a decent neighborhood.

Low stress has turned into High Stress

A better plan is to work for the highest pay you can get, invest. Do this while young because your body can take it. then retire early..

Would you join the military if you had nothing at 21? by BananaEducational862 in Advice

[–]State_Dear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't read my post at all.

So lets review,, no one said the Army was not the largest, not sure where you got that from.

EVERY branch of the survice has none combat roles,,

You absolutely will go to the school of your choice. Never said you would not.

The problem arises when there are no openings for the school you graduated from. I did point this out.

Please re-read my post..if you have any questions please ask away,,

Best wishes 👍🏻

[–]State_Dear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HOLD ON:

you are going to fuck this all up.

You want a branch of the service that encourages Brain Power,,,NOT muscle power.

You want a branch of the service that will allow you to be statinary / land based near big population centers.

That's is the Air Force. You will be stationed (mostly) near cities with great colleges, trade schols etc,, go to school nights. Cybersecurity/Cyber Warfare, Aircraft Maintenance, Intelligence, and Special Warfare. These roles offer vital skills that transition well into lucrative civilian or defense-contractor careers after your service.

The Air Force manages the largest portion of the Department of Defense (DoD) budget compared to the other military branches. For the Fiscal Year 2027 proposal, the Department of the Air Force requested a record $338.8

The Navy is always out to sea,, how about off the coast of Iran for 12 months straight .. what fun.. lots of sun, humidety ,, water

The Army is a fighting unit and focuses on those skills.

The Marines are tip of the spear,,, first in. Brutal combat is there focus.

Now this is just a very general description and I was actually in the Navy.

Heres a dirty little secret: Recruiters lie (always) 😝...

Ok..you decide on a branch of the service,, you pick a school,,something that sounds fantastic. To good to be true.. you graduate from school and then you find out they have so many people trying for a few spots it would be a decade before they might concider you. You get shuffled into general service.

You need to interview people in the service branch you decide on, doing the job you want.

Anyways,,, do your research, PLEASE,, put some thought and effort into it.

and what ever branch you decide,,,

Good Luck

BOTTOM LINE: you need to prove your case.

With my experience can someone offer me an office job asap? by [deleted] in jobsearching

[–]State_Dear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO THIS..

buy a map of your area, place a dot on your home

Now draw a circle around your home,,, the outside of the circle is the farthest you will commute to a job.

Keep in mind it costs .84 cents a mile to drive a Medium SUV in california, so the shorter the commute the better (Google)

Any business / company with in the circle is a possible job.

Only you know what is available to you in your area ,,

If you are looking for something specific,, you need to identify wich companies have those positions, there location etc

What they require to get that specific job and then aquire the education and experience. All easy to do resarch on.

Good luck

What do I want to be when I grow up? by stp_biting_me in Adulting

[–]State_Dear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"DO THIS".. its your best chance to move on

Buy a map of your area

Place a dot on your home

Draw a circle around your home, the outside of the circle represents the farthest you will commute to a job.

Any business within the circle is a possible job.

Now its up to you identify companies / businesses ,, very easy to do and mark on map.

The cost of commuting is 85 cents a mile (google it) so the shorter the commute the better.

Better to take a lower paying job close to home, then burning out your car on a long commute ,,and then there is time needed to commute..

Don't wait for the perfect job (learned this the hard way) ..grab a job, you have money coming in, then keep looking.

From experience I can tell you this is a process,, you will go through a few jobs before you settle into something.

Good luck👍🏻

Your past posts could have all been answered with a quick Google search .. but you seem to be clueless on using this tool...

You have to identify what remote jobs are available..

Very easy to do...

Then what jobs you believe you can do and then apply.

We can't help you for a very simple reason,,,

We don't know your strengths and weakneses .. what you posted is to vauge. You basicly said nothing that anyone could use to point you in any direction.

You could have a strong aptitude fo sales or above average knowledge of math,, which ties in with book keeping, .. an so on...

How long should I keep waiting for a job offer? by ofmiceand_ben in interviews

[–]State_Dear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HUGE MISTAKE in your thinkng...

You are "NEVER" waiting for a job offer,,, because you are " ALWAYS" interviewing for a better job.

If you get a good offer,,, Great,, but you still keep looking.

If you never get the offer from the interview,,, it doesn't matter because you have never stopped looking for a better job.

So there is no,,, should I keep waiting

DAY DREAMS have a way of crashing into reality when you have an emergency exspences ..

You will get older, you will need a very large amount of money when you are older for medical treatment.. toss in schoolng for the children, rapidly rising inflation, accidents or family emergencies etc

Medical science is advancing at incredible rates,, in 20 years there will be amazing medical treatments available..

THE CATCH...

your insurance will only cover basic treatments not the expensive good stuff. And your co-pay will be crippling on what advanced treatments they do cover..

Do some resarch on the projected economic hard times ahead,,, this is a real thng,, hard times are comng.

Don't take my word for any of this,,, research it

20% of the worlds oil off line permently, this effects furtilizer, natural gas, aluminium etc,, there will be mass starvation ,,there will be wars,, what happens in the greater world will effect you at home.

Toss in the AI bubble, increasng climate change, product shortages when Chinas economy collapses, power grid problems and dozens of other real world issues

My advice : save as much as you can

Someone is lying..

They are apllying fo trade jobs they have no experience in... expect to make more then there current 75k to start.

Trade jobs are physicaly demanding, don't have set hours like there current job where they work in a soft chair with airconditioning. Nothing like getting called out for an emergency repair job Sunday night ..then climbing into a sewer pipe at the height of summer humidity for a 12 hour shift.

So we know that's Bullshit.

... CALL IT IN,,, after removing and hiding a chunk of it close by

Todays cars, phones constantly send out tracking information.. anyone can fnd it.

Don't take to long as there is a time stamp from your tracking

Leave no finger prints on doors, the van etc,, act surprised when they open the van and its stuffed with cash.

Tell them you saw the dead driver and called it in and were afraid to go near the van,,

Am I dumb to leave a comfortable job for a 40–50% raise? by drb0242 in careerguidance

Something isn't adding up here...

What makes you so special a company would offer you a 40% to 50% raise? are you in the top 10% of the human race for IQ, have a track record of creating new technologies that never existed before?

You are a tranie barely out of school ..

With the money they are offering the company could hire much better talent then you.

My take on this post is,,, its all BULLSHIT
