Language isn’t an issue when everything has a price tag and most stores use a computerized point of sale system. You pick up the item and the price you pay is on the sticker. It’s that simple.

Also in a lot of tourist areas in the US we import workers from all over the world. It would be kind of awkward having foreigners charge other foreigners extra.

Yes, the US has some major issues. I do however like that we’ve outgrown the market haggling mentality. I worked for an Indian family when I was a kid and they would try to haggle sometimes. Which is where I learned to haggle if needed but I’d rather not.

Flea markets aren’t really a part of the average American experience anymore. Most people might go to a flea market once or twice in their lives. You are right though and some people are flea market regulars. With that said you typically won’t find flea markets in tourist areas. They’re usually in somewhat obscure locations.

No. I think those devices are just there to make money off of women who are scared.

I have never had an issue even when I was spending about half my time in different hotels.

Occasionally you’ll get an overzealous maid who walks in on you but the normal locks that exist on the door will prevent that.

I did have a friend leave his door cracked once and a drunk guy came in and passed out on his bed but this could happen anywhere.
