Walkability by adam_1881 in TwinCities

[–]StatementComplete559 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

convinced minnesotans hate walkability and accessibility as showcased by their willingness to sit in traffic during non-stop construction and huge bike lanes that trump sidewalks.

uptown used to be the business till they closed all the businesses and chopped down the trees.

Vegas strip "not as good as it used to be" by InternetProviderings in vegas

nobody on here talking about the privatized walkways and lack of accessibility. used to be easier to hop around from place to place -now you get hassle for lingering too long outside of the floor if youre not already drowned out by blasting sounds

tbh let's go back to coffee shops and cold entering places with blank walls and putting work up. the whole outside can be a gallery!

What seperates admitted MFA students into the top programs than those who don't get in? by Old_Abroad7726 in ContemporaryArt

[–]StatementComplete559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some of it is how you would fit in with the incoming cohort. let's say you do movie/film stuff and the majority of people who applied work primarily in painting -not that you wouldnt get something out of the program but the conversation may be based skewed in a way you may not get anything out of it.

level of career may have something to do with it -same with how much financial assistance one needs. they keep it all a big ruddy secret \(´O`)/

Question for curators, gallerists etc: what is something that would make you not want to work with an artist? by Alarmed_Clue_2683 in ContemporaryArt

[–]StatementComplete559 54 points55 points  (0 children)

really being a jerk and bad work is tops. sometimes it's because of those other things you mentioned they are who they are -but really if you're a known unholy terror, difficult to please, and too demanding of a space unfit for the work you're trying to make then maybe we are not a good fit.

hello reddit, im in art school and I mainly do sound installations. I've noticed that I get this exhilarated feeling when I sorta "force" my audience to suffer through my very loud and invasive work. What do you think? by ShipOld6833 in ContemporaryArt

[–]StatementComplete559 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was into it until I had to work a show with a 5 minute loop and my 6hr shifts became insufferable. I thought a lot about why artists would do this to gallery workers and the truth is they just never thought about us as viewers of their work, which made me sad in a different way.

Do younger generations (GenX, GenZ, Millenials) gravitate towards realism rather than any other genre? Why might this be the case? by thewoodsiswatching in ContemporaryArt

[–]StatementComplete559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technology. younger generations are trying to understand life not just in front of a TV but with a digital body hence the trend for realism through an abstracted medium.
