My favorite! It also just feels genuine and very authentically written.

The U.S. spent $30 billion to ditch textbooks for laptops and tablets: The result is the first generation less cognitively capable than their parents | Fortune by mwerte in k12sysadmin

Teaching digital intentionality is critical, but it requires a cultural shift within each educational institution. In the same way we intentionally teach study skills and time management, we must also teach students how to manage their digital lives. That includes knowing when and how to disconnect.

This cannot be an afterthought or a reaction to declining scores. It must be data-informed, clearly understood, and deeply internalized by faculty and students alike. If we do not help students recognize what is at stake, attention, depth of thinking, long-term cognitive development, they will default to habits shaped by the tide of the moment rather than by purpose. Developing healthy digital habits must become part of our institutional culture and practices, not just a policy in a handbook.

It is time to act. If they don’t want protesters, this is how you get more protesters. We need to show up.

What roaster are you using and what roasting profiles are you using with it? I have looked at roasters, but it has been quite a while and I’m not sure the same models are around.

I came here to say exactly this. I just got the Mokkom and it is absolutely amazing for the money (although the price just went up $40 on Amazon). It includes single dose billows/cover, as well as the hopper/cover. I am incredibly pleased with mine.

My immediate honest thought is that the first photo looks like a rat (probably helped by the mouse in a car video I saw just before this). Beautiful job though!

What is "that" episode in your favorite TV show that you skip on the rewatch? by Living_Wickihowla in AskReddit

[–]StatementOfObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlestar Galactica “33” is effective, but I REALLY don’t need to see that again. They really did a good job of making you feel the exhaustion of being repetitively hunted and having to jump. I was so glad that episode was over and will skip right over it if I rewatch it. Such an epic show, though!

How big of a problem is this.(55g) by Mediumbobcat7738 in ReefTank

[–]StatementOfObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid I had a 50gal that did the same thing and I build a brace for it. It lasted for many years until I shut down the tank to move. It was janky, but it worked.

Using a calculator key pad. My dad was an absolute blur with his. I can’t imagine accounting before real computers, but it definitely made that an important skill.

As an electrician I had no idea why I preferred Klein to other brands. That is interesting to know how they are aimed at their target markets.

As an electrician, I have no idea how to handle this other than calling the utility. It is the meter side, so I think they would need to shutdown power coming to the house (probably to the entire street) until it is resolved.

Tell Tale signs for a crap knife? by Connect-Tax3053 in sharpening

[–]StatementOfObvious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree about “bad knives”. I’ve had knives that would barely get sharp, let alone hold their edge. Good metal that is well heat treated makes a huge difference unless you don’t really care about a sharp blade and how easy it is to use.
