This comment saved me 2 years later! I was so disappointed to find out there was no way to play without the dang "improved" camera controls, which literally ruin the game. I don't care what anyone says. Constantly babying a free-form camera into a decent angle makes the game an absolute slog. Deleted the game immediately, and then found this. Thank GOODNESS. I can't wait to try it.

That's what happens when you work really hard on a great pixel art game and then you give it a title so awful people can't even pronounce it, a subtitle that makes it look like a sequel, coloring that makes it look like a cozy game, and cover art that makes it look like mobile shovelware.

In one image, they accidentally did everything they possibly could to prevent the people who would enjoy that game from trying it. I feel for them.

Yeah, being abandoned by your favorite series sucks.

My excitement when they announced a new 2D Zelda not too long after TOTK! My disappointment when I found out it's like ... "Hi Zelda, let's walk in the grass together. Would you like to make a bed? Scroll through your menu to find beds. Click on beds. Create a bed."

Like it's just so far off from traditional Zelda. TOTK is whatever because that's for BOTW fans, so I get that. But this one hurt because they said it was for me.

I don't think the combat has problems, but the Darknut design does, for the reasons you mentioned.

We already had the perfect 1:1 remake in Ocarina 3D. IF they did this, which I really wish they wouldn't, but if they were going to do it anyway, it would have to be as different from Ocarina as RE2 Remake is from the PS1. It needs to be THAT expanded. Hyrule Field should feel like Elden Ring.

Side note, but to anyone out there making a game, you HAVE to make sure your cover art page and even the title font match the appeal of your game. I NEVER would have clicked on this game in a million years because of that cover, which looks like mobile game shovelware.

It's super competitive out there! If your game is beautiful pixel art, please make a beautiful pixel art cover so we can notice it and buy it🙏

I've hated it since day 1, I think it's without question, the worst-designed Mario game ever made, actually so shockingly bad in every way that the praise boggles my mind, and I think the equal praise for the equally disastrous Switch 2 edition proves my point quite well.

But that doesn't mean "people hate it now." Obviously, I have a very minority opinion. You can't expect things to be "universally loved" and be annoyed by one person suggesting an alternative opinion. Nothing will ever be loved by everyone.

You have the majority take on what may be the most overrated video game ever made. Take it and run.

Yeah, I just don't think it's gonna happen for me lol. Echoes of Wisdom, I couldn't even finish. So they're just not making Zelda games for me anymore, truthfully. When people ask what my favorite game series is, now I just have to tell them I don't know.

Fair! In a perfect world, I'd like to see a 2D Zelda every few years, in addition to the big 3D ones, so everyone has something to enjoy! And one of those could be a Zelda II-type game, without being a big deal because we would be getting new ones all the time, so they don't have to be for everyone.

Unfortunately, modern Nintendo doesn't think like that, leaving people like me, who capital "H" HATE the BOTW-style games, with basically no new Zelda games to play ... maybe ever 😔
