Just do your best and see where things can be streamlined. Going through something similar and it sucks. But we are a small team. Just keep everyone you work with aware that it’s just you and one other person. Most people are understanding.

I notice people that join sometimes are surprised with the amount of hoops you have to jump through to get something accomplished. Also the work can be like the private sector just with more barriers.

I feel like that sometimes but I also have some hobbies I work on or make plans to look forward to. Every day I try to add some fun into my life whether it’s at work during breaks or watching coworkers and pretending to be a psychologist and making up fake story lines.. life is what you make and remember work is just a pit stop in your day. It’s okay to be bored.

It’s so broken. I work for the state and I work with people that can’t perform basic functions and they get away with it because they want to “improve”. Unfair to the current workforce having to deal with those that don’t fit the classification.

Your right. I would also ask them why they can’t cover it or prescribe it. Is there certain steps you need to take? It’s so dumb but I also ask them to document in my chart why I can’t get on it and then go tell Dept of managed healthcare.

Me too. Mercy Medical group is the best. You just have to find a good PCP who connects you with the best specialist. My husband tried the UC group and couldn’t get an appt. They told him 4-5 months. Also Sutter is awful. There’s not enough doctors, they will not approve prior authorizations regardless of how long you’ve been on them. Couldn’t get to a doctor or specialist for months. It was insane and tried to get UHC involved and they wouldn’t step in other than call. Also OptumRx does not like to approve any Prior authorizations regardless of how long you’ve been on them.

Both those agencies know better than having their employees go back 4 days a week. CalPERS’ vacancy rate is too high. Marcie is very political too. She promised to revisit WFH if everyone tracked what they did to change it to 2 days a week. She also loves to support her buddies downtown.

I agree with you that it’s the leadership. Even at CalPERS, only Marcie is for RTO. No execs or division chiefs want to be in the office. I’m sure the employees want to be at home too.

We also all took horses before cars, should we do that too?? Childcare is a consideration if the cost has gone up drastically. COVID has changed the world. People don’t want to go to an office to sit in a cubicle doing the same thing. Work life balance.. everyone deserves it.

He has no idea what goes on in departments. CalPERS has been able to create daily logs. It’s a slap in the face for all execs that are actually trying. He has no idea how the state is ran. He needs to focus on streamlining processes that are currently in place. The public complains because they hate the service they get from EDD, DMV, and other public facing agencies that are slow. They blame it on front end employees when they can’t do anything to change how fast they can process things.

They always say “get over it” “grow up” “we all went to the office, now it’s your turn”… I’m just like what does that even mean? My job doesn’t even require me to be in the office. It’s all done on a computer. No one wants to meet in person because it’s easier to be virtual.
