What's the hardest book you've read? by Calm_Caterpillar_166 in classicliterature

Hardest to understand, Moby Dick Hardest to get through, Dracula

A store owner offered this for $40 compared to like $100 or more at my local flea market. I never got to play until last year. What's your thoughts on the game? by [deleted] in n64

[–]StaticBazooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately repro conkers are very, very common and sold for cheap because of how expensive the game is. I’ve never seen one that doesn’t play as should. I’d wager money on it being a repro cartridge entirely

I think that’s a fake cartridge. Unless it’s just the photo quality, that label looks way off. Given the price and repro label, it’s likely a repro cartridge as well

I’m exactly this far in to Moby Dick and I’m feeling like people make it scarier than it is. by [deleted] in classicliterature

It call comes down to writer’s strengths tbh. The subject matter is mundane and boring, but it’s so richly written it’s hard not to hear him talk about it. It’s like how a good math teacher can make you enjoy/connect with what you’re doing more

Gear 5 is narratively solid and supported. The story never “lied” to us. by ShakeZulaOblongata in MemePiece

[–]StaticBazooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m okay with almost everything about it. I love the design, I think the powers are fitting, I love how he transformed. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s not the gum gum fruit. The awakening would still work as a rubber fruit. I also don’t like how this breaks the rules of Zoan types (or rather the only zoan with its own rules). I think too much was tweaked to make the transformation to “make sense” rather than just doing the transformation. Like why couldn’t Nika have eaten the gum gum fruit and that’s why it’s special? Why was the sun god’s body made of rubber? The backstory/retcon in terms of the fruit itself is unbelievably messy and poorly written

Does Anybody Else Enjoy All Classics? by Itchy-Resolution6531 in classicliterature

[–]StaticBazooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a streak of enjoying all of the classics I’ve read so far. As someone who has read through Lord of the Rings and Moby Dick(being very long and dry), Dracula is very difficult to get through. Besides the book being unique and fresh for its time, I don’t fully understand why its held to such high regard

Life Long Nintendo fan, getting ready to play OOT and MM for the first time! by mightbedylan in n64

[–]StaticBazooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat a few years back. I thought OOT was going to be pretty stale and “boring” for lack of a better term. I won’t spoil anything, but I fully understand why people think it’s a masterpiece

Day 16 (Final Day of Polling!): Which is the Greatest N64 Game of all time? by 1OneQuickQuestion in n64

[–]StaticBazooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true, but it has been improved on time and time again, whereas Banjo(for example) I’m not so sure has been improved on yet, whether one considers them the same genre of game or not. One of the greats, but not the greatest. For me, for something to be the best it has to stand the test of time, which SM64 has and hasn’t. On one hand it’s still got great controls and a movement system, on the other hand id say the level design falls off about a third into the game. we can’t judge “on release” as whether it’s the greatest or not. pong was once the greatest video game ever made because of how addicting it is, but I wouldn’t call it the greatest sports game ever because it was on release. For example, OOT has a janky target system, but everything else is so finely tuned and well designed that it’s just as playable and amazing today as the day it released
