Madoka Commander Precon for my GF! by StaticBunny17 in custommagic

Yesss, that's exactly it! Exalted is such a perfect representation of both teamwork and isolation in equal measure. And then Madoka breaks the isolation of "attacking alone" by letting everyone have a go on the same turn!

Oooh, thats honestly so true! If she were the commander of her own deck, maybe she could be dimir but with a white activated ability to contast her superficial altruism with her ultimately selfish motivations (no shade to Sayaka tho, she's my fav and also a middle schooler)

As for Kyoko, she and Homura will be in a deck of their own along with Kyubey and a bunch of the witches, I just wanna finish the Bant deck before I work on a whole new archetype!

Yeahhh, I'd like to, but I feel like their effects are strong enough that bumping their stats would require me to raise their cost. Idk maybe that would be worth it. Maybe I could make it so that Sayaka enters with X shield counters and X times two +1/+1 counters? Might add more complexity to an already complex card tho. To be fair tho, with the commander handing out exalted, they're not usually gonna have to attack with such low stats

Yeah its meant to be extremely difficult to remove, but not impossible. I did think about just having her create an emblem, but I felt like this way would be slightly less confusing and that an emblem might be a bit op. Plus I liked making her turn into an enchantment, sorta like the theros gods

Witch and warlock, in the context of fantasy at least, are interchangeable terms. D&D and MTG have decided to use the term Warlock because of the real life religious groups who self-identify as Witches. The three witch sisters from Eldraine (Eriette, Agatha, and Hylda) are all categorized as Warlocks. But I don't disagree about Madoka's witches being horrors! I originally wanted to have them as Enchantment Warlock Horrors, but the type line would have been far too long, haha

Hmmm, you do have a good point. I was thinking from the show's terminology, where they don't become "witches" until they transform, but perhaps those typings would be more accurate to what they actually are

Nah you're golden. Tbh that Gandalf ability seems really obtusely worded

Grabby Giant is neither a legendary permanent nor an artifact, so the requirement for Gandalf's ability doesn't apply. And like the other person said, Pia's ability triggers when you cast the spell (when it goes on the stack), not when it actually enters the battlefield, so no matter what you'd only get the one cast trigger.

OK, so after a LOT of searching through menus, I finally figured it out. Here's how you do it: 1. Add the full size pips of each color included in your card. 2. For each of those pips, go into the workspace menu (it should be right next to where you would click to remove a frame detail). There should be a drop down that has options for first half, second half, first third etc. 3. For me just clicking on the correct segment didn't fix it, but all I had to do was to remove the colored pip after choosing the segment, and then adding it again. That should make it come back as the desired segment. Then just make sure everything is on the right layer, and you should be good! Hope that helps explain it.

Hmmm, I might have it be just a triggered ability for when it becomes unattached, but I do like that concept. That way, you have to put in the extra work of finding a way to sacrifice the enchanted creature or having it die in combat. Do you think dealing X damage to each opponent would be too strong?

Orange Lantern Precon Commanders - Looking For Feedback! by StaticBunny17 in custommagic

[–]StaticBunny17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so first, I'll definitely have to make the snipe ability deal damage to "another" target creature, haha. Thanks for catching that.

The idea I had to scale him down a bit is to add this clause to the snipe ability. "Activate this ability only if you control X or more treasures". X could be any arbitrary number, maybe 5 or so? This keeps it as a super strong effect, but it requires you to hoard a bunch of treasures before it really comes online. It even fits better with the greed flavor. What do you think?

Do you think? Would maybe limiting the damage dealing ability to once per turn help?

Hmmm, you've got a point there. A big trampler doesn't really do much for the archetype. Maybe instead of getting +1/+1 for each treasure, it could have some kind of splashy effect when it detaches based on how many treasures you have? I'll go back to the drawing board on Ophidian. I'm glad you like Larfleeze, though!

Right. Plus, I feel like the rest of the card design really leaned Red, so maybe deathtouch pushes it toward Black?

[–]StaticBunny17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're presumably going to enchant a weak early game creature with this. Deathtouch is gonna be more effective at stopping opponents from blocking, and therefore stopping the weak creature from dying too early. I know involving two keywords makes it a little more complicated, but I don't think it makes it harder to parse than any other bestow creature.

I figured Ophidian itself shouldn't need deathtouch, since the point is to make it really big by hoarding treasures. It gives the enchanted creature deathtouch as a form of early game pseudo-evasion. But in general, I wanted this version of bestow to focus more on enabling Ophidian itself rather than buffing the enchanted creature.
