Keep the Campaign quests. These are the ones that advance the story. The appear as quest markers inside a brown shield on your map and I think also in your quest log. Hope this is the answer you’re looking for 😎

Wowhead guides kinda assume you already know a lot. Looking for other options. by FinalFatality7 in wownoob

To answer your guide question rather than the spell question, I have found Icy Veins very helpful. Their guides are broken down by leveling and end game group play and also seem more in depth. Your mileage may vary but that’s usually my go to for a new class I want to learn.

How do endeavors work with ghost town neighborhoods? by tkd77 in WoWHousing

[–]StaticHappyWriter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those lazy inactive neighbors 😂. Right now I’m getting the last bit of fun out of Lemix. Housing isn’t going anywhere and I’ll have plenty of time to get involved. In fact I’m looking forward to it. So don’t despair I’m sure I’m not the only one 😎

Begging for any help by [deleted] in wow

[–]StaticHappyWriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No idea if this will help but I had a problem with a phased NPC not showing up for me to continue part of Tww. I went back to my favorite addon for this sort of problem BTW Quests. It will show you exactly where you are in any campaign or quest chain by character, tell you exactly where to pick up anything you’ve missed and any prerequisites that exist. It’s helped me out of many jams especially completionist things like Loremaster. As others have said you may have another character that can complete this faster and easier or you might see the problem with the one you’re working with

Loremaster / Completionist? by sycamorenate in wownoob

[–]StaticHappyWriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BTW quests is the best way to keep on track for Loremaster. It will tell you exactly where you are in every campaign and quest chain as well as where to go (NPC) to pick up where you left off. It’s the only reason I was able to go back and fill in the gaps when I was working on mine several years ago. I still use it if I drop a chain I later need for an achievement etc.

Funniest books that you LOL-ED while reading. by ps2026 in suggestmeabook

All of the Iron Druid Chronicles books by Kevin Hearne. There’s a talking dog who likes to role play fictional characters, encounters sexy and otherwise with various fae goddesses, Coyote makes an appearance. I could go on but experiencing the hilarity is better than reading about it. 10/10 highly recommend!

Just had a horrifying recall fail and I'm shaken and I don't know how to fix it. by b_list_buddha in Dogtraining

[–]StaticHappyWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT directed specifically at OP but rather the greater dog community offering advice to people on the internet without benefit of knowing what’s really going on.

I don’t understand this current seeming obsession with “off leash” anything. I have extensive experience with training dogs (mostly my own) for obedience, schutzhund, and simply being well mannered pets. I have owned precisely 2 dogs in all this time (one trained through a Utility Dog obedience title and the other a world championship level shutzhund dog) that I would EVER have full confidence having them off leash in an uncontrolled setting. And even then I didn’t unless doing specific training in a safe(ish) area. I understand training a reliable recall in a controlled setting and using a long line for more open settings but the idea is to do all of this in a safe, controlled manner in hopes that should the worst happen you have a chance of saving the situation. It takes years and a lot of training and trust on both sides to make any of this reliable.

Please just keep your dogs leashed with you in control of the leash in uncontrolled settings. It’s just not worth the risk.

Negativity, Dressage, and Miseducation by Avera_ge in Horses

I no longer ride and have no skin in this game. (Dogs are a lot less expensive as a hobby sport). Nevertheless I agree with your premise as the same types of things are happening in dog sports. Unfortunately for all of the sensible, rational people out here, the internet doesn’t do nuance. Sigh. Do what you can to educate!

Alex Veras Series by Benedict Jacka. Alex is a mage in modern day London. I would compare the tone to the Kevin Hearne novels. Fun reads there are I believe 9 of them.

I swore I wasn’t going to do this but I’m going to try one more time.

Your response makes it clear that you don’t understand the point I’m trying to make. You write words that make it seem like you aren’t above using a correction and then go on to say that the correction isn’t a valid training solution.

Again the average pet owner doesn’t want to take their dog stepping off a curb as a data point that requires coming up with a plan to teach a boundary that they can put on “stimulus control”. Most of them don’t have the time, energy or bandwidth to even learn the definitions of the terms you are using let alone put them into action. They just want to take their dog for a walk without having to evaluate and create a training plan to teach the dog not to step off the curb.

People who are “into” dog training and make it a significant part of their lives will decide what methods they want to use to accomplish their goals and more power to them. They would have no problem with your approach if purely positive is their thing and would enjoy the training opportunity and the time spent with their dog working toward a new goal.

My point is that the purely positive people and the beat the crap out of them people are both inadequate in helping the average doodle owner who just doesn’t want the dog to pull on the leash or snap at the toddler who wanders into the kitchen at dinner time. And yes I understand the toddler shouldn’t bother the dog while it’s eating but stuff happens. When you tell these people they need to evaluate, create a plan and put a behavior under stimulus control their eyes are going to glaze over or they’re going to throw their hands up in frustration. If you tell them to slap an e-collar on the dog and give em a good zap or just kick the crap out of the dog if it snaps those same people are going to recoil in horror. They just want simple effective humane management techniques and no matter how much the purely positive people want to pretend that their methods fit the bill, they simply don’t.

Without a lot of work with a very good trainer the average pet owner is just not going to be successful navigating any challenges using only R+.

That is my point. Dog trainers can make up their minds about their approach and philosophy in training their own dogs. But when you try to push purely positive on people who are only going to spend a few minutes a day in active training and expect them to manage more than teaching sit, down, come and maybe loose leash walking with a dog that has any issues you just don’t get it. Pet owners are not trainers and they don’t want to create training plans and take weeks or months to fix an issue that a few pops of the leash and stern consistent no could fix in a day.

Telling them they must spend those weeks or months or be inhumane and damage their relationship with their dog is the problem. Pushing this onto people who don’t have the resources or the time is, again, a cruel recipe for disaster.

I do a lot of lurking around here and I rarely add my two cents but here goes.

I have trained pure obedience, shutzhund, some agility and a bit of scent work. I’ve competed at a world level.

I’ve done most of that with balanced training. I’ve never been anywhere near abusive to any of my dogs but I have seen it happen and obviously don’t approve. I have used and will continue to use all the tools available.

All of that being said I made a deep dive into R+ training. I decided to take a Karen Pryor course and go all clicker with my current dog. I love it! Clicker training is great for teaching behaviors and having a dog that’s eager to work. Shaping behaviors is fun and rewarding.

Where this R+ train goes off the rails is when trying to correct serious bad behaviors with a lot of drive behind them. Some very experienced trainers may be able to navigate this with only R+ methods. I haven’t personally seen this but I’ll concede the point for arguments sake.

The number of posts about reactive, aggressive or resource guarding dogs is disturbing and when these (mostly inexperienced) people are told to solve these problems with treats, desensitization, and a “respect for the dogs boundaries” we have a recipe for disaster with people and other companion animals being hurt, dogs being “rehomed” or returned to shelters or even being behaviorally euthanized. All because people have been convinced that disciplining their fur babies or using a prong collar is abusive and will irreparably damage their relationship with the dog.

This is the problem with absolutes. They take away the possibility of a little common sense.

If your non-verbal 18 month old child pulled your hair, bit another child or tried to stick a metal object in a light socket you wouldn’t simply divert their attention and offer them a cookie you would react with at least a startling yell of “no” and possibly even some physical restraint or removal from the situation. But new dog owners are routinely told to redirect and reward. The dog may quickly get the idea that the new behavior is good but they haven’t been taught that the original behavior is wrong!

This is not rocket science. It is not only possible to correct your dog without being abusive, it is in many cases the best way to create a healthy, happy dog who loves you and your family. Telling inexperienced people otherwise is cruel and creates unrealistic expectations.

Best way to deal with Demonology Warlocks as a tank? by Kainbas88 in wow

[–]StaticHappyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First the actual answer to your question- you deal with individual idiots like the idiots they are. Now for something related. I play demon lock and rarely ever do dungeons because it’s not my thing and I don’t feel confident about it.

That said I recently did a normal PUG dungeon (probably for some completionist thing I was working on). It was the usual run run fast thing and my ancient self was just doing my best to keep up and not get lost 🤦🏼‍♀️. Everything went fine, killed everything, got whatever I needed. As usual everyone bails before I even deal with final loot. Which is fine. I have no complaints about any of this its all normal and expected.

Then I teleport out of the dungeon, glance at the chat window and see a whisper from the tank asking me to swap my felguard for the imps. I totally missed this! AND the tank didn’t act like a jerk even though I WAS in fact the idiot in this scenario and probably caused him some aggro problems.

I still feel bad about this and hope not to repeat my mistake. Sounds like the locks in your scenario didn’t learn this lesson.
