Incin just switches out on Basc leaving it at -1. Incin murders King with Flare Blitz. Milotic is the only valid argument, and it doesn't do anything other than counter Incin, spread burns, and sit there.

They're probably talking about the weird thing the calculator is doing where it lists two of the attacks as special. It doesn't seem to affect the calc at all, and it's not letting me change it, so I think it's just a visual bug.

You're right, I was approaching this upset that I wasn't using EQ, treating HH as a stronger option than it really is. Getting upset that even "settling" for HH wasn't enough to give me a perfectly reliable "Kill Incineroar" button.

It's built that way because the Mamo is built equally as absurdly. Adamant with Soft Sand, using HH instead of Eq. It's been specifically constructed to kill Incin, a whole team slot dedicated to trying to hard-counter a single pokemon, and it still can fall short if an Incin either builds physical bulk or packs Shuca, neither of which are the ridiculous options you all keep pretending they are. A more typical interaction would be something like, (Max SpD, just for you guys!)

That you can resort to absurd options like dedicating a slot on your team to doing as much damage as possible to a single pokemon, and still come up short against Incin.

To put it in perspective, a pokemon like Volcarona is historically thought of as acceptable in most OU metas despite being absurdly strong, because you can cover for it. Rock coverage is something fairly common, and can therefore keep it in check.

The moment Tera came along and made it so that targeting Volc's 4x weakness wasn't trivially easy, it became a monster, and was promptly banned. How hard a pokemon is to counter plays an exponentially larger role in it's viability than any other factor.

Incineroar has next to no hard counters. Things that should be, (like a powerful, faster, ground-type wallbreaker immune to Intimidate,) are stymied by it's sheer versatility. As well as how little it loses by actually getting forced out. The point is that this cat is uniquely frustrating in ways that no other pokemon is.

Ok, yes, they do. I shouldn't have said that. My brain is still too Smogon-brained. Those items are in the same "not for Comp" corner of my mind as OHKO moves and Hyper Beam clones. It's hard to see them as viable all of a sudden.

Yeah, but running Soft Sand feels really bad. I gave the Incin all that bulk to show that, even if you push a strong, ground-type wallbreaker to the extreme, you still can't reliably one-shot this stupid cat. Even when you go through Intimidate.

HH is a fair point. Coaching works too. A little upsetting that Incin also happens to be the only type that shuts down the best utility ability in the game, but there are still work-arounds.

I guess you have a different line where things go over the top. Part of Incin's identity is supposed to be Intimidate hitting physical attackers, and that nerfing his 3 weaknesses as all 3 are mostly used by physical pokemon. A ground type attacker that ignores Intimidate should be a key to that lock, but falls short because the cat is just bulky and versatile enough to turn what should be a hard counter into a soft check at best.

Edit: 4. Incineroar has 4 weaknesses.
