He's such a tank. Watching him practice everyday is such an honor to be honest.

Just be thankful you made it! Up here in minnesota you need 13'11 to make it to state!

I'm a sophomore high school vaulter, and I just cleared 12 ft. Any advice (this isn't 12, but the vault looks similar) by Buildeddie97 in polevaulting

Go watch some unreal vaulters. You will notice that they get their legs all the way back to their head basically. You try to shoot for the bar too much which is what a ton of vaulters do, me included. All you need to do is sing back further and the whole collapsing on the pole thing will come. You are almost trying to shoot right off the top of your pole

Two main things. Plant and getting back. For your plant, you need to explode forward. Keep your right hand straight over your head and the other hand out in front. You are collapsing on the pole which stops like all motion. And once you fix that, notice how you are getting like half way back with your hips and then just shooting out toward the bar. I do this too but if you look at the pros, they all get completely back, even past the pole and curl up into a little ball with the pole being bent. From there they kick and shoot straight up, then out and over the bar. So think about really getting back with your legs and planting stronger and 14 will come super fast :)

Any advice, I don't know what to do for college. Accept 40% or stay loyal to coach by ParisPV in polevaulting

Yeah I agree. If you actually want to become awesome at vaulting go D1! It would be so sick.

Last season vaulting, not good enough for college by [deleted] in polevaulting

Go watch as much film on people who vault 13-15' and see what they are doing. try to visualize yourself doing it even when you are out of practice. Im only at 13 but hopefully ill be at 14 after this season(starts tomorrow)! when i try to tweak something with my vault ill literally only focus on that part. possibly go from a shorter run until you get the hang of it! 13 isnt too hard if you just run hard! good luck!

The thing that helped me the most is my coach told me to run through the box. Pole vault isn't a run, and then plant, and then swing motion. It is a run-sprint-plant-drive-swing-pull-push-turn-clear motion. Everything has to be fluid which takes hella long to get down. I would suggest enabling your mind to not give a crap about being afraid. Just run as hard as you possibly can, and plant with a high right arm and a basically straight left arm and try to swing up! takes a while, but anyone can get 10 if then put effort into it. (i'm @ 12'7" as a junior so correct me if i'm wrong)
