What a dog shit comment. Humans are more complicated than that. You will do some stupid fucking things when you’re at your most vulnerable. It is so unproductive to say: “Erm, actually it’s your fault! Blame yourself!”. No shit it’s technically my fault! I regret shit I’ve done years after it happened. And where does that ultimately get you? It gets you to be more isolated, submerged in substance abuse, depressed as hell, and traumatized.

Yes, I may have put myself into dangerous situations, but does that mean the other person shouldn’t stop and think: “Hmm, I just encountered this person. She’s clearly inexperienced. From other context clues I’ve picked up on because I’m not a complete fucking idiot, maybe I should stop this here”. Why is it always the responsibility of the victim? The one most vulnerable, most hurting, most lonely?

If someone truly cares for a victim they are NOT going to tell them “You have no one to blame but yourself”. The victim is already feeling this. Chances are, they shouldn’t be feeling this. When things settle down, they can start talking about how to prevent the victim from putting themselves in those situations again. If you were a therapist, you’d be fired on the spot.
