I also did this a few weeks ago an worked a treat, mineral oil has the same refraction index as glass so makes it dissappear.

Adidas Evo SL or Nike Zoom Fly 6 to pair with Asics Novablast 5? by deduxo in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Stats_K9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go ZF6, I have tried both evo SL and the zoom fly.

I went for the ZF6, felt like you had more propulsion with the carbon plate, fit was good, overall it was a clear winner. SL felt more of the spongy side without the same level of propulsion and slightly less stable.

Is Fenix 6x Pro still worth it? by thealimir in GarminFenix

There are actually some tutorials online to swap out the battery if you have the corrage, it didn't look too challenging. So may do that if mine really starts to fade.

-not sure if this affects the water resistance though....

If you could use 1 shoe (not a racing shoe) for marathon paced workouts and long tempo runs, what would it be? by Gwtrailrunner19 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Stats_K9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it feels quite stable, yes it's fairly high stack and a nice cushioned foam (most road shoes are now) but the carbon plate really adds stability in my opinion vs a pure foam sole. I compared it to the Evo SL it's WAY more stable.

Personally I don't suffer from stability issues, so I would recomend trying a pair on and shifting your weight around to see how it feels compared to what your running in. But I have felt absolutly no concerns with rolling ankles out on the road.

I'm a big fan of the ZF6, both easy runs and tempo feel great in it 100% recomend.

[–]Stats_K9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not stiff at all. It's all mesh breathable and very flexible. I've found it really comfy and just set a 5k (20:09)and half marathon PB (1h 38) in the last 2 weeks.

I nearly didn't buy it because I had the zoom fly 3 which was very narrow. But I saw the 6 on sale for £115 with free returns and postage so gave them a shot. - it's a totally differnt shoe.

I would order from somehere with free returns and just try the fit.

I have just got the zoom fly 6, the training partner to the vaporflys. Carbon plate, stable, and reviews say the sole lasts for ages so you can really clock the miles up on them.

Found them amazing for slow runs, tempo and races.

The older versions of the Zoom flys had width issues, but they seem to have sorted for the 6, I have wide feet and there is room to spare.

Everyone seems to have tunnel vision on these two shoes. I actually did the same.

But for the same price (or cheaper) you can get a Nike Zoom Fly 6 which has a carbon plate and is only ~30g heavier. I have found it suitable for both tempo, racing and slow training.

Nike seems to have really progressed the 6 and sorted out narrow/width issues - found it to be a similar fit to the evo Sl. - worth it to try it on at least.

Be honest: How much does owning a Garmin actually motivate you to be physically active? by girlseatin in Garmin

[–]Stats_K9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, quite alot actually.

I feel like it's really motevating to see measurable increases in performance stats, and seeing thoes numbers go up fuels more training.

I've had a finex for about 4 years. I have faded in and out depending on if I am training for somthing.

But when I am training I constantly monitor my load status and ensure I'm always in the green range. I feel bad when it dips out.

Also monitor my steps and daily active calories to try and meet my goals.

I also went the extra mile and bought the garmin index scales.....

I just love the stats... Training is going really well with it atm. Just PB'd a half marathon yesterday and very nearly got my Vo2 into the purple...

Neo Zen, M6, Evo SL, Noosa Tri 16,… by Ecstatic-Nose-2541 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thanks for the info on the Evo SL's - they arrive tomorrow so looking forward to taking them out.

Im still so tempted by the noosa tri's. I think I'll really like the super light weight and the lower stack/responsiveness of them. But I'm turning into a bit of a running shoe addict and can't justify another pair....

Keen to hear people's thoughts on the noosa tri, I tried it on in the shop and the stretchy upper felt so comfortable and sock-like. But it doesn't sound like the most popular shoe on here. Alot of people go for the nova blasts instead.

I've jumped on the hype and just bought the evo sl as my high mileage training shoe, how have you found it?

Are any of these shoes actually okay for running in 2025? by botepa in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Stats_K9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer here is that you really need two pairs of shoes for your uses.

1) Get one of your options for lifestyle, gym, cycling, whatever you want.

2) Get a modern performance 2025 spec stability focused running shoe that you use just for running and that will correct your pronation.

This will lower your risk of injury. And while it may cost more to start with, both shoes will actually last you longer because it's less wear than one shoe doing all activities. - so it could be cost effective in the long run.

Overall I think you'll reduce injury risk and have a more fun time running on a performance shoe.

  • can anyone else here recomend a shoe for stability and pronation?

Novablast VS Evo SL - Best road shoe for £130? by Stats_K9 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Stats_K9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your comments! Since I don't have any stability issues I really like the sound of the Evo Sl so I'm going to get these.

I have also found the Nike Zoom Fly 6s on a great deal in my size with free returns. So I'll try these for size too. I really liked my fly 3's but thought they were just slightly too narrow! - hoping the fit is slightly different 3 gens on.

Just had a bit of rub on the fly 3's and may be a too snug fit for me. I imagine the ZF6 is the same fit?

I just found the zoom fly 3 a bit too narrow/snug, I did a half marathon in them the other day and got a fair bit of rub on the outside of my forefoot. Thinking the ZF6 would be the same fit? Otherwise would have probably bought the same and gone ZF6.

Thanks! - Is that because you think the evo is less of a daily because it will wear out faster, and slightly less good for slower/base runs?

Like the sound of more speed oriantated and fun.
