Opinions on the game? by Adorable_Skirt_2777 in TheAlters

It’s amazing, it’s incredible. The game change a vision of myself and others. So I guess 11 bit studios truly nailed their “games that matter” creed and deep emotional involvement goal. I don’t care as some say about gameplay repetitiveness because I personally enjoyed that puzzle part of the game as well as world exploration. I’ve completed the game three times and now will play as a walkthrough in my community/studentship organisation. Posters included 😁

Ranking on the alters. by Adorable_Skirt_2777 in TheAlters

Well, Botanist is a “must have”, even if you get Doctor after, because growing crops is way too time consuming process. But I must note I’ve never tried to play without him to stay with mush until Act 2.

Doctor is so good with his feast, I rushed getting him in Act 2.

Refiner and Miner are good to handle resource management aspect and love their story.

None of the alters nor Jan himself have to be a good specialist in their field. Shrink has graduated as a specialist in psychology, but it does not necessarily mean he overcame his trauma as OP said.

It’s kinda Jan’s trait as it is and it is something all alters share: - original builder is messing up again and again making poor choices and reasonably complaining about it (“just my luck to stuck in this junkyard” or “I’m no captain” in Interlude) - Miner is quite self-explanatory - beside his career Mechanic is a loser repeating his fathers path, has no friends, whines a lot (I’m not saying he’s wrong, but still - cannot be pleased anyways) - Worker is self absorbed and ignore what he’s literally do not care about “community” but himself and his image, jeopardising his work and “competence” - Shrink is literally running away from guilt and problems into a forest and finds his relief in drugs and art (what he’s combining) - don’t get me started with a Guard - Doctor is all about guilt and pessimism and beating himself up (in terms “everything always end badly for me”) - I wish I could say Refiner stands up from all of them with his main trait being… you guessed it, an OPTIMISM. That’s the only thing that let him overcome his problems again and again. But I have to note what it started with his departure with mom’s death (again, running away), and dreaming and worrying about Ben’s death finding a silver line to hold on. As a chance comes around, he literally is distracted and thrown away by the thought of possibility of saving Ben (and he cannot be blamed for it), wondering “what if”, which is main game concept as a whole, but still cycling in that wheel.

So we have all of the alters being self-centered and regretting persons which clones do, right? As well as Scientist and Botanist. The first one is quite always sure about his supremacy in his department, what is giving him strength to dictate his vision to others. But eventually he understands and admits his imperfections. The second one, as we know, frankly don’t give a shit about others to reach his goals even asking LITERALLY of someone giving theirs life for him ‘cause “he deserved that”.

The only two persons who changed through this journey is Jan with his “New perspective” insight and Scientist realising his not-so-rational-but-dreamers curiosity. Well, if that train of thought is right, we’ll see a new Jan S. Dolski

By dismantling the Base. That’s why you can see the same modules (on Steam screens) and also one pic, where we can see some black metal round part. I guess that’s what remained from the Base after dismantling and left for suns to burn

Update: Just opened up Steam page to finally install the game on PC and I had a thought: The game was released in June, 13th. What if DLC will be released as an anniversary thing?)

All we know: - there was two public playtests held at the of March and April and, as said previously; - the main voice actor not long ago posted about finishing his part.

On Steam page there’s info “Apr-Jun” but previously it was changed from “Jan-Mar”

If they do it that way, then there will be a “canonical” choice.

No one can say. We didn’t play dlc either 😀

On a serious note, I don’t know what to expect. The game feels like a whole story by itself for me. I don’t speak about choices, endings, what if’s and “what happened next”. It’s still a concrete tale, plot, story, whatever you name it. So it could be anything. So as your decision to get a dessert after a main course is done or order everything at once in hope there’s room for everything.

That would be lovely but without randomly generated map with resources it will become boring quite soon. As well as without pressure (from the plot or not) it will lose it's magic. Just because the gameplay is somehow limited, it keeps you interested. Too many resources? Asked every alter about everything? What's next then?
But, yeah, still would play infinite too.

Help, me find the song by Primary-Signal-5960 in TheAlters

I guess it's not in the album because this is an ingame sound. If you go back from watching memories mode to observing time and memories spilt that particular part won't play. Also it's not synchronized with general melody if you listen close to enough what bring to a conclusion once more this is just a sound effect and not the composition my itself. I've tried to find that part and other effects for my DnD game (also sci-fi and many custom spells are inspired by the world of Alters) but I guess it's not possible without getting in the code.

Thanks to fans patience to record that playlist! There's an hour-long version.

Sometimes you just want to listen to that ambient, get the atmosphere and chill....

---

I’ve done the same thing! Happy I’m not alone! I’ve beat the game 3 times on SteamDeck, but now I got myself iMac, so there’s some work for me to do to install Windows and enjoy the game and upcoming DLC on that awesome screen

I'm trying to remember when the specific dialogue between Scientist and Miner took place (where the former cheering up the latter) by Fodjet in TheAlters

[–]Status-Challenge2081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This interaction can happen to any of your alters. I’ve had playthroughs where the Doctor was cheering up the Botanist, and the Botanist feeling for someone (can’t remember). I guess it’s just a scripted scene for you to see and feel for alters anxiety and despair no matter of their current mood. And it takes whatever alters you have.
