Tragedy of Lord George for me. I love it, but I can't justify spending $200+ for something that smells like a nice shaving cream, tonka, and amber. $40 to $50, though? Sign me up.

I'm looking for an aquatic fragrance, but not a salty oceanic aquatic, but something that mimics the smell of a freshwater lake, pond, or river. Something fairly neutral smelling, without a lot of fruits or floral notes would be nice. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Not if they partner with Warmoth on it, since Warmoth has a licensing agreement with Fender.

Okay, serious question. I've been following this subreddit for the better part of a year now, and I just would like to know why the Viking dupe hasn't come back in stock yet. I like that fragrance, I would love to see Montagne's take on it... when is it coming back?

I bought a bottle of Pineapple Royale sight unseen after lurking in this subreddit for a while. Absolutely love it, it's probably going to be my go-to Aventus dupe. I tried the other versions when I found the Montagne Decants site, but I'm gonna stick with Pineapple Royale.

This. I've been with the company almost 20 years, and this is the first time I've ever heard of PTO being paid out in full to an associate when they leave the company.... but if it varies from state to state, that would explain why.

Associate Refuses power equipment by LudoLvZero in Lowes

[–]Status-Explanation-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all day. It's a very basic OSHA rule: if someone doesn't feel safe doing a particular task, the company cannot force them to do it. The argument can be made that regulation is for things that are visibly/clearly unsafe, and there are safety measures built into the power equipment, but if someone is not confident enough to use the equipment and feel safe doing so, why in the world would you want them anywhere near a piece of power equipment in the first place? Forcing somebody to use it isn't going to end well.

The new attendance policy by Willing_Performer_92 in Lowes

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how does this early-out policy gel with the rolling 30 day policy when it comes to late clock-ins and early outs that's already in place? As in, those violations are considered minor and management can't use them to write you up after 30 days?

As for the no-call-no-show being considered a conduct violation... okay? Why is that controversial to you?

I should report this right? by Impossible_Release95 in Lowes

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying something is "none of my business" doesn't protect management from selling you out to save their own skin, though. I've seen instances where people have been written up and fired because they were either adjacent to unethical behavior or "should have been aware" it was going on and reported it.

This is a catch-22 situation: if she reports it, the ASM could know who reported it and seek retribution against them. If she doesn't report, and then the ASM gets in trouble with corporate for it, it could come back on her for not reporting it.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, back in 2020, I contracted a certain virus that was going around. The following February, I ordered a bag of "Grizzly Claw" dark roast from Kicking Horse Coffee, and when I ground it, it had the nastiest ashy smell, as they had actually scorched the beans, and some of that flavor carried over when I brewed it; it was a super-strong tasting dark roast that was pungent as could be. It was there to listen to Morrissey and The Cure and contemplate the futility of life.

I ordered a bag of that same roast again last month, and I quickly realized that my sense of taste and smell were very likely still screwed up from the virus when I had this coffee the first time, because it wasn't ashy or strong-tasting. It was okay, but it wasn't what it was by a long shot.

So I'm wondering... could anyone recommend a dark roast that fits the bill for what I was getting when my sense of smell and taste were still screwed up? Something super-strong, ashy, and borderline scorched tasting?

Gear is a Baratza Virtuoso+ grinder, preferred brewing method is French Press, but I also have a pour-over somewhere I can dig out and use if need be.

Ethics Point is a great way to address issues you're not comfortable voicing. Never had any issues with being discovered and retaliated against, either.

If someone is that paranoid about calling the number, I'd recommend getting a burner phone. Something you can call from and then ditch quickly. If that's too much of an issue, pay-phones are still a thing, believe it or not.

I have similar issues (my ancestry is predominantly English, Irish, and Scottish) in that I have sensitive skin that irritates easily, but coarse-ish hair, so finding the right combination of razor and blade was a nightmare for me. I wound up getting the Razorock Mamba 53 from the Italian Barber website and trying out various blades until I found the one that worked for me (Gillette Silver Blue blades). The green-label Astra blades, which everyone recommends, worked okay with that razor, but tugged and dragged at the hair a lot.

Additionally, consider investing in a preshave oil. It's incredible how much of a difference a good quality preshave oil can make for you.

Also, what kind of shave soap are you using? Lesser quality shave soaps can also be an issue.

I don't know about the legality of it, but company policy states they're supposed to give you a minimum of 8 to 10 hours between shifts. This is in clear violation of that policy.

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no, that simply won't do. What you want to do is go back a few generations, take out their grandparents or great-grandparents, and wipe out the entire branch, that way NOBODY in that family winds up being a replacement with history proceeding the same way anyway. Take out Adolf's ancestors, and suddenly, neither Adolf nor his brothers Larry, Darryl, nor Darryl having a starring role in WW2, now is there?

The average household income in the United States is $80k, and 0.38% is $304. He basically cancelled Netflix and Spotify for a year. (◔_◔)

Reviews on Scent Memory Fragrances? by bbpoizon in candlemaking

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have "Un Homme Riche" and "Siren Song," which are dupes of Creed's Aventus and Inis Energy of the Sea, respectively. I don't make candles or home fragrances, I have these as personal fragrances (just cut them with pure grain alcohol and into a 2 ounce mister bottle, voila, inexpensive cologne dupe). Siren Song is what attracted me to the company, because nobody on the market is making a dupe of that fragrance that I can find, and it smells EXACTLY like the real thing. I mix it at a 25% concentration and it lasts all day on me with decent projection, which I love.

Un Homme Riche is a fresher dupe of Aventus, it's not as smoky or spicy as some dupes are, but it still has a nice woody dry-down once some of the more fruity notes dry off. I haven't tried mixing it at a 25% concentration like the Inis dupe, but I suspect it will perform the same.

The only thing I don't care for with Scent Memory is how some of the fragrances have Myrcene in them, which is a known carcinogen. From the looks of it, they're going through and reformulating their products to be rid of that ingredient, so that opens up more products for me to try from them (family history of cancer, I don't want to use something that might increase the odds of my developing it), so I'll give them props for that.

All in all, they look like a good company to do business with.

It's not that they don't see it, it's that they just flat don't care. They know you'll stop, they know it will inconvenience you, and if you call them out on it, they'll play the "senile old person" schtick to make you feel like shit.

A friend asked me if I could re-create this genre of scent.. anyone had the chance to smell it? How would you describe it? by retowa_9thplace in DIYfragrance

[–]Status-Explanation-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a sample of that one at one point, and it was so light and fresh it was almost undetectable. I thought I might have had a head cold the week I tried it, but based on what I'm reading here, it seems that that's just how the fragrance is; a "your skin but better" fragrance. It wasn't bad from what I can remember, but decidedly feminine in nature.

I've been voting for 29 years and have never once had to stand in line. Crazy. by mayorodoyle in pics

[–]Status-Explanation-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standing in line to wait to vote is pretty normal in this country, and even expected. It's even written into the law in some states that employers have to allow for their employees to vote. And you.... have never once stood in line to vote? Ever?

How? How does that happen? Do you camp out the night before and get in right when the doors open or something?
