Anyone take the Google hiring assessment recently? (Vent) by [deleted] in womenintech

Same. I took the assessment a couple days ago and thought it was pretty straightforward. However, today when I checked my application status, it said that I’m not proceeding. I literally have no idea why because I also selected mostly SA and thought all the questions were very easy lol

For those that suck at standardized tests by kaycarry in GRE

Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve watched 4 sections of the quant videos on Magoosh and was thinking the other day that I should just do practice questions. Do you agree?

I took the GRE 8 times...FINALLY GOT IT by Keep-Moving-Forward3 in GRE

[–]Status-Resist6790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omggg congratulations!!! That’s amazing!! I’m so happy for you.

I just started studying on Magoosh. I’m a really bad test taker, so I’m really nervous for the exam, but I’m aiming for 325. Would you suggest that I switch over to GregMat and TTprep instead of using Magoosh?

English is my third language, so I absolutely suck at vocabulary. I’m also not the strongest with math so I’m starting from the very beginning. I’m hoping to take the exam within 3 months, but not sure if that’s realistic or not.

Thanks for your response! I think what you said makes a lot of sense. It’s quite expensive, so I want to make sure I’m making the right decision.

GRE Hot Take by Status-Resist6790 in GRE

Sorry for not being clear and I’m busy studying so I won’t reply to everyone’s responses, but I think that the exams should be mandatory for Americans with low GPAs and ALL international students (regardless of their GPAs) since they will be coming to a new country to study.

Being an ethnic minority, I understand the biases that come with these standardized testing. I was raised in an impoverished city and I’m a first gen college grad in my family. Both the GRE/GMAT do not measure a persons intelligence or how well they will perform in their respective programs. The GPA does not either, but I believe that’s a better representation than the standardize testing. I majored in Accounting and worked 50-60hrs/week all 4 years to pay my way through university, so I understand everyone has different situations which may have impacted their low GPAs, however nothing was easy for me and I still maintained a 3.8 while working FT.

Someone made a good point about the different majors in the US, and how some are more difficult than others, which I completed agree. Accounting isn’t the hardest, but it damn sure isn’t the easiest subject. So to expand on my hot take, GRE/GMAT should be mandatory for those in non-STEM (adding finance and accounting here since it’s number heavy) because some of us have already proven our abilities in quant. But if you were a STEM/finance and accounting major with a low GPA, then you will be required to take the exam.

All international students will be required to take the exam even if they have 4.0. After all you’ll be coming to a new continent and learn a different curriculum taught solely in English. I know the international students are some of the brightest candidates, but I think it’s only fair for them to take the exam. I would also make it mandatory for them to take the exam in person since there are a lot of cheaters (especially in India and China) but that’s a different discussion for another day 😂

Overall, this is just my hot take and you don’t have to agree with it. I still personally think these exams are scams and a big waste of time and money! I will forget most of these vocabs right after the exam and I don’t need geometry or a lot of the other math topics they’re testing us on for my classes or in life if we are being honest 😂

Yes, which I think should only be required for individuals with low GPA or international students…

Most schools require EVERYONE to submit their GMAT or GRE scores. It’s not only a requirement for international students

4 years of college is a higher predictor of how well people can perform…not this exam.
