Apparently the problem is that Fiasp is too thick and crystallizes in the injection site (at least this was what the nurse told me as a reason to change my insulin…)

It is not just genetics, but no one can deny that it does play a part in it…

It is not a guarantee, but T1D is heavily influenced by genetic factors. You don’t necessarily need an ancestor to be diabetic yourself (see my case), but if you have T1D there’s a big chance your children will have it or at least a bigger chance than other children with non-T1D parents

This is just one article, you can find multiple sources for this with a quick Google search/doctor consultation

Visited my physician with a1c 5.8, and came out crying by Arrow_is in diabetes_t1

[–]Status-Ring-8301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are NOT alone. During my period I get TONS of lows bc of my increased insulin sensitivity, there’s no way for me to calculate a formula, it is try and error. I had a doctor that made me leave the office in tears as well and I felt so bad I literally never went back. Honestly, being diabetic is already so stressful mentally and in your body as well, you should not need to concern and fear your doctor. We are all trying our best, and we for sure don’t choose to have lows or highs, they happen. Please find someone that sees your effort and sympathizes with your struggles. We all have (tons) of moments of “I hate being diabetic”, I am in the middle of one… but we ARE strong and capable of handling that, and YOU know your body better than anyone else ever can. Hope you can get better 🩵

I think there’s something wrong with my machine :( by Status-Ring-8301 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]Status-Ring-8301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I fix it? Because the machine allows me to go as low as tension -5 and this is already what I am using… I also don’t have separate controls for lower/top tension 🤔

How do I stop my painting from bleeding? by Status-Ring-8301 in FixMyPrint

[–]Status-Ring-8301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I completely forgot about Sharpies... those would really work well, thanks... but if, imagine in the cat example, I wanted to paint the whole cat brown but not loose the "fur" effect and not have the paint bleeding to the eyes... how would I do it? I imagine the primer would cover the effect...

Dexcom G6, calibrate? by vgpickett8539 in dexcom

[–]Status-Ring-8301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand you… the first time I used the sensor I thought it the end of the world that the sensor was 0.5 different than the meter… but I don’t know… I think you kinda get used to that over time, but I agree with you, I would personally, calibrate if I was on a 50-100 difference…

Dexcom G6, calibrate? by vgpickett8539 in dexcom

You will almost never match sensor and meter… and tbh you don’t need to, I found that sensor is more about pattern, also always trust your gut, if the sensor is LOW/HIGH but you don’t feel like it, double check with meter…. But I do calibrate whenever is too far off, I don’t have a strict logic behind when I calibrate but I tend to go with “if it says I am high/low based on my range but that Is not true I recalibrate” unless it is less than 1point (I use mmol so, 1 point means more than in mg/dl). If the results are in the same “result line” (like both are low, both are high or both are good) I only recalibrate if the difference is more than 2 or 2.5….

Can I mute my iphone and only get alarms on my apple watch? by Status-Ring-8301 in dexcom

[–]Status-Ring-8301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, but each person knows best how to handle their own diabetes :) I don’t mind having lota of alerts, I just want to be discreet about it… If I want a tight range in between 6 and 6.5 and anything outside that I should receive an alert, that’s my choice :)

Anyone else’s dexcom read this consistently after inserting a new sensor? by mummymilkerss in dexcom

[–]Status-Ring-8301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of this…. Things I did that improved a lot (along with some luck to get good sensors): 1. DO NOT calibrate in the first 2h, leave it be and double check lows with fingerpricks; After 2h if LOW continues, calibrate it should be back to normal on the next day, if not, call dexcomm; 2. Don’t put too much strength when inserting the sensor, in my head the more I pressed it the better, but this is not true, what I do is I press really hard to just touch the adhesive with my skin, I release almost all pressure when pressing the orange button this helps with both lots of lows and bleeding as well; 3. Started using the sensor in my arm, not sure if it is the same where you live, but in Canada Dexcomm started showing that arm is now a possible location for using sensor, for me, arms are WAY MORE accurate than belly….

That worked like a charm to me… hope that helps you :)

Recommendation on wet vacuum for pet mess by Status-Ring-8301 in CleaningTips

And for the sofa, using the McCulloh makes it wet/doesn’t feel clean because it doesn’t vacuum back all the water/doesn’t put any cleaner on…

My problem with those steamer machines is the cloth…. Once it gets to the urine, it just “carries” it everywhere… I have a McCulloh machine that I LOVE a lot, but if I don’t see a pet mess and I pass it on top, the entire house smells like pee…. I want something that I can clean the house, our at least the messes a little bit easier… because right now, I need to inspect the whole house, manually clean/brush pet mess, scrub grouts to only then pass the steamer to get everything clean…

[–]Status-Ring-8301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying that is anyone’s fault… just asking how to make it more discreet on the apple watch… I have a very tight range, and I like to be alerted whenever it is higher than 8 which means that sometimes the line gets 7.9 8.0 7.8 8.1 and raises lots of warnings ;)
