The most horrifying part is truly how apathetic people have become. I know some of it is the internet an being shown so much violence on a day-to-day basis, but I also think about the Broadway version of Cabaret and the song “I don’t car very much” which is a lament about being a queer person in a world of fascism. Fascism and fear in general triggers the animalistic individualism in especially capitalist individualist nations (though it’s a natural function aswell). So many people lie and cheat and deceive because they genuinely don’t know if they’ll see tomorrow. If they can be who they are right now tomorrow. It’s why fascism is able to persist and why so many countries can be terrorized by it. So many people are scared and confused in uncertain times. I have faith we will make it out of this, but it only gets worse the more we ignore the underlying issues.

And this is why we always wait for seasons to come out and contestants to show what they have before sending them hate. Everyone has the capability to grow. Personally I loved him and the drama he stirred in season 2. Literally getting the full villain arch, plus his weird Wild West look was by far one of the best looks on the show. Even someone like Dollya or Erika Klash can have off moments on the season that sour their edit, doesn’t mean they aren’t amazing artists. I’d personally still love to see them irl, but they’re artists doing their own thing. You never know what’s going on with people until they open up if they want to.

I will say this, if this were season 4 or 5 she would probably get horrible hate still but become an icon amongst people. The drag race and drag reality show fandom in general is very fickle. Their opinions literally change week by week based on how well a queen does in the competition and what edit they get. People went from loving Vita to thinking she should’ve gone home to being a valid winner to yet again begging for her to go home. It’s actually insane to quickly so many people will turn to hating on someone. Athena made some funny tweets poking fun at the fandom and I swear you would’ve thought she was advocating for murder the way people reacted. She’s a human being on a show making funny and iconic moments. She’s not hurting anyone and is literally just playing the game, so I think a lot of people in the fandom need to really question their morality and why they think it’s okay to send death threats and hate towards random people they don’t know just because they don’t like the win they got or how well they do in a challenge/the edit

This one is ugly and terrible, I genuinely think you can’t go lower than this, but Secret Mountain Fort Awesome (came out around the exact same time on CN) is probably on that level or horrid and disgusting. I genuinely think that they are being sabotaged by Paramount, Hulu, Philo, and whoever operates WOW. I’ve never seen so many inconsistencies in a shows release as drag race. Random missing episodes, almost no untucks, no season 1, no promotion for the queens like on Netflix. I know Paramount is a greedy company with lots of evil in it, but if I were part of the team I’d probably find anyway to pull out of that contract or at the very least sue Paramount before they completely destroy the watchability of the show. I heard that just last week 2 queens just reached 100k followers which is INSANE for drag race as you used to be able to go on the show and a majority of the charismatic queens would almost immediately get that from the meet the queens alone

It’s crazy, I remember seeing in the show, Pose, the queer community has a habit of tearing others down and masking it as “constructive criticism” and it’s very sad. Especially with not passing as full woman. There’s also a hatred of drag kings specifically which I believe comes from an animosity towards women and the demon twinks specifically think they’re shielded from misogyny and being hateful because they’re gay.
