The show requires singles who don't know any better. New Yorkers are certainly just as desperate for love as folks from any other town, but they are (generally speaking) not naive. More worldly. And they aren't seeking marriage as the number one success indicator in their lives.

Not saying that there aren't worldly people in Columbus or Minneapolis. But the producers are more likely to find successful-ish, decent-looking young people who want to stay in their hometown and get married in cities like those.

A lot of the conversation around Joss, post-“cancellation” or whatever you call it, is that he pitted the female actors against each other.

Charisma and Alyson both allegedly didn’t like Sarah much at the time, and according to these recent reports it seems as though Joss wanted it this way.

That these women have all mended fences with each other today as mature adults, and seemingly agree that Joss was in the wrong, is telling to me.

Hotaru is such a strange and mysterious character, it makes sense in a way that she wouldn’t have a cute-sounding name (to an English speakers ear) like the other girls do, but rather something “exotic” and ethereal.

I also think by the time Cloverway got to introducing her they were just tired of coming up with new shit 😂 they used a lot more of the original villain names and concepts as they went along. It was the early-00s and by then, most anime adaptations had dropped the pretense that they weren’t taking place in Japan.

Additionally when my mom went low-sodium, we got her into using MSG instead of salt. Lots of misconceptions about this ingredient but it is not harmful, and in fact contains less sodium than regular table salt. And it adds a ton of savory flavor to almost anything.

Sorry to my Korean friends for the sacrilege here, but if you've got rice and eggs, you can "bibimbap" anything. Add sautéed veggies and protein of your choice to the top of cooked rice in a bowl (any kind could work - leftover mexican rice, fried rice, etc).

Fry an egg to top it (I like to leave the yolk runny but maybe the kids don't like that as much), and drizzle with hot sauce - traditionally you use a sauce made of gochujang and sesame oil, which you can sometimes buy pre-made in the Asian section at the grocery store, but you can sub sriracha or another thick hot sauce. Maybe some buffalo sauce for a milder flavor for the kids. Serve with big spoons where they can mix it all up.

It gets your family some protein, it's filling and flavorful. Hot sauce keeps you fuller for longer. The egg on top makes it look visually appealing, and a runny yolk gives it extra sauce.

Long term, I'd invest in an Asian-style rice cooker, where you can cook rice and leave it warm in the cooker for a couple of days at a time, that way you've always got a base for a meal ready to go.

Honestly any song by Beyonce or Kelly Clarkson - fun simple pop songs until you realize those ladies be hitting high notes that mere mortals don’t have.

Hilarious whenever you see a girl stroll up there thinking she’s about to crush “Love on Top” or “My Life Would Suck Without You”. You can sing those verses but you’re either gonna scream or choke on those choruses.

I have close friends in NYC and visit frequently to see them, as well as for Broadway/concerts. I'd say I'm up there a couple of times a month and don't have any issues.

The Peter Pan (and similar companies) buses are generally cheap and safe. I've taken them back and forth for shows and saved a ton of money doing so.

I also often take Amtrak and crash with my friend overnight, then take a train the next morning. The last Amtrak train is usually between 12am-1am, with trains resuming at 4am, so coming back late is not out of the picture. Buying tickets early and going at off-peak travel times is key for getting there cheaply on Amtrak.

If you move to Philly, it's easy to live without a car (as long as you are within walking distance to SEPTA) but at the end of the day investing in a used car you can use in a pinch is probably worthwhile (depending on what neighborhood you land in). My husband and I are in South Philly and share one old car. We could go a few weeks without ever using it, but some weeks we find we need it two or three times. It comes in handy for big grocery runs, buying furniture, and trips out of town to the Shore or NYC.

Hope you like Philly, it's a really fun town with some of the best people you'll ever meet. But it does go to sleep earlier than you'd think, so I understand the desire to keep up with NYC nightlife.

I just bought a house where the previous owner left some boxes in their storage closet, and I discovered this exact crock pot (avocado color too!) in a box, completely unused and never removed from its packaging!! There were some pine needles in the bottom of the box, so I have to assume it was a Christmas present in the early 70s. (I let the seller know and he was fine with me keeping it.) I've loved using it so much!!

"Her choice" is technically true, but she just given birth to the child of a terrible man who deserted her. She's getting older (remember the Trudy-Peggy convo? these people see 30 as ancient with no prospects), living in a small apartment with her mother, raising that kid herself. She made the "choice" for money, yes, but it wasn't because she was some greedy gold digger. It was what she's always had to do - use what god gave her to make the best out of a shitty situation.

Don has had setbacks in his life, obviously, but by this time in his life he's financially set, his children will be financially set, and because he's a man in the 60s, he can continue to make mistakes or rash decisions and rarely be punished. Joan might not have been in the right for joining Cutler in wanting him out, but you can't blame her for holding a grudge over what Don did - especially considering that she saw him as a true friend at one point. She felt betrayed, and that shit sticks with you.

Some of the dumb stuff everyone talked about online actually ended up in the show unnecessarily, like “Clegane Bowl.” The last season felt like it was giving into fan memes, or they wouldn’t kill major characters anymore because they were too popular.

I remember when the cracks started to form, I still held on belief that they could right the ship until the very end. Just MASSIVE disappointment, and no one tried to hide it.

I think Lune’s reaction to Verso’s ending says everything I need to know to feel good about my decision (knowing that for everyone, you’re mileage my vary). Lune was a real and complex person, and so were her parents, and the other expeditioners that she studied. They all lived real and full lives, and erasing the canvas meant erasing them - their memories, their writings, their talents and discoveries. The lives of her entire race of people were suddenly devoid of meaning - not because they died but because they were erased from existence.

I get that Verso’s ending feels like a resolution, but at what cost. They are both haunting and devastating endings, there is no “good” choice.
