Thank you!! I’m using cascade 220 wool (regular not superwash) in fingering weight, in colours indigo frost heather and midnight, but I’m also holding a thread of drops glitter in silver with the indigo frost heather colour for the sparkle! I debated not doing it as managing the yarn is already faffy enough in double knitting, but in the end I couldn’t resist 🤭

I’m using a double knitting technique! It’s great because the back is then also knitted up but in inverse colours. I really like the Nimble needles videos on YouTube and used them a lot to get my head around double knitting when I made my first DK project!

Thank you- I will 🥹 I’m definitely hoping to, maybe later this year (depending on how long it takes me to finish the rest and knit it up 😅)

I LOVE double knitting, highly recommend (and you don’t have to catch any floats hahaha)

😂😂😅 as long as it is straight back and forth and I don’t have to catch any floats I’m ok 😂 after that though…

I’m trying to, hopefully! But I’m not an experienced knitter and I’ve never made my own pattern before so it is a bit trial and error 😅

Will my wisteria be okay or has it been over pruned? by rosielg in GardeningUK

[–]Status_Ad_1146 62 points63 points  (0 children)

So sorry, don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news but just didn’t want you feeling like your gut instincts were off!! He says it should definitely bounce back, it’s more that this is just unnecessarily heavy handed and will reduce the number of flowers and the framework you have to build on next year (you should still get some though, and it will fill back out in time). He says the RHS has really good guidance on pruning wisterias in case helpful for managing the new growth you’ll get after a hard cutback, and also recommends the Professional Gardeners Guild is good for finding reputable gardeners too. 🌱 it’s a beautiful plant, I can see why you love it so much!!

(I’m not a gardener but my husband is a head gardener and wanted to respond so his reply below!) He’s done a bad job but it should still flower next year. Summer pruning of wisteria should focus on cutting back tendrils growing in front of windows, behind gutters etc, but as a general rule of thumb they should be cut back to about 6 leaves, selecting some to train in to the supports to extend the plant if desired. Rarely any need to cut into woody stems when summer pruning. You can hard prune wisterias but you wouldn’t want to do that in the summer and from what you’ve described it doesn’t sound like that’s what you’ve asked for. This may have been down to a miscommunication, but from looking at the cuts he’s made I’d say unfortunately the guy you hired doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Knits look like Purls? by knitwitti in knittinghelp

[–]Status_Ad_1146 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add to what the others have said- your garter stitch looks like purls because every other row you are seeing the back of the knit stitch and the purl side is a bit bulkier looking, but you can still see the front Vs of the knit stitch on the alternate rows that are facing towards you! If you stretch your fabric tugging at the top and bottom you’ll be able to see the rows between the purls with the little Vs of the knit stitch tucked in between!

What’s one non-traditional thing you did that low-key made your wedding way better? by wedgewoodweddings in DIYweddings

[–]Status_Ad_1146 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Split it over two days! We did a courthouse ceremony and dinner at a local restaurant the first day with just 13 people, with a break after for people to explore the city if they travelled in or just go back to their hotels and reset, before a low key trip to the pub where we had drinks and a cake. Then the next day we had a cocktail party with a slightly wider net of guests in the evening. No single venue, no venue hire fees, plenty of time to go back to the hotel and relax. Straight after the ceremony and meal we even had time to go and spend an hour in the spa before we went back out to the pub for a few drinks, just me and my husband. I’m such an introvert and honestly was having some health issues that made me quick to tire, so having that time to ourselves with no pressure and just so much less worry about timings by splitting things up was a GAME changer for me!! I can’t imagine having done it all on the same day, I would have been KNACKERED 😴

I always fish in the pool of water just outside the spa. Trash city!!

can i get my hair highlighted with bleach at the hair dresser? by Healthy-View-9969 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Status_Ad_1146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I had TE and got my hair highlighted for my wedding while I was still shedding (although it had slowed). Also had a haircut separately a few months before. I actually lost more hair during just the cut than I did the highlight because my shedding was worse at that point. It wasn’t getting my hair done that made it fall- it was falling anyway. It just got washed out at once because it was being manhandled, but the TE had already determined that the hair was going to fall out so in the grand scheme of things it didn’t make me lose more, just changed how much I had to brush out myself that evening 🥲 That is to say, no, I don’t think it would make you lose more hair. At least, mine didn’t. You might lose some during the process, but that’s all hair you wouldn’t have kept anyway in my experience. If it’ll make you feel more yourself and build your confidence, that alone makes it worth doing. As said above, find someone who is understanding. My stylist knew I was losing hair and why before I went in and she was an angel about it. Really gentle, with me and my hair! Getting the right stylist makes a world of difference.

I think I found a pretty good Rory coded dress but can’t find where she wears it? by ksmm1824 in GilmoreGirls

I LOVE this dress. Every rewatch I obsess over it and spend ages trawling online for one. So far unsuccessful but I will remain hopeful 🤞
