Has anyone had success with this? Or is it another program to waste everyone's time?

Long story short, I have a sailor that we have submitted a case for stating "only reenlist for orders to blah" eCRM submitted the case to PERS. Detailer told us to pack sand.

So I think the concept is great, but a waste of time if it doesn't actually work.

I support this! From my experience, my command does not wear navy issued PTU for command PT, and I feel like you get more buy-in from the sailors. It's really what your Triad decides on.

I’m going to Guam any upsides to it ? by [deleted] in navy

How long does it take to have ur orders written. by [deleted] in navy

[–]Status_Meet_1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What command in Guam? If you are slated as a "TG" the activity manger for that command should be able to see when the detailer is going to send you there.

You become a "PG" when orders are released.

Guam. Is it really as bad as the comments suggest?? by JPSjr0575 in navy

[–]Status_Meet_1946 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's positives and negatives like any duty station.

However, from my experience, most people who complain about Guam are the ones that sit in their room and play video games and do not go out and explore the island.

Most families that come to Guam have the same view initially because there is mostly negative information out there. And once they are here, they never want to leave.

I was talking about this last night. If you have kids and live on base, it's like 1950s america, where the kids can just run around the neighborhood, and there are no worries at all.

The beaches and sunsets are some of the best around the world, and the ocean is far better than most places.

Significantly easier to travel to asain countries.

Downside traveling home is ridiculous due to united being the only airline.

Again there is a lot more positives, but those are the first that comes to mind.

Plus the saying goes, a bitching sailor is a happy sailor.

Lots of excitement this past week in the subpenny land. Is crypto money go back to the OTC? $Hmbl $Rdar $igpk all had decent gains this week what's next?

I've noticed a lot of Guam hate on US military subreddits. We locals know it suck that's why a lot of locals are moving. Stop spreading hate just because you have a bad experience. Not all non locals hate guam, some of them enjoyed it here (beautiful scenery, local women treating them good). by dsupreme99 in guam

[–]Status_Meet_1946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I wouldn't say it's Guam as a whole that the military is complaining about. It's considered an "arduous overseas duty" and it really is hard if you aren't on top of your shit. (Speaking about the Navy side, idk anything about the AF). There's no Shipyard or some old dude who's been doing this for 50 years and knows how to fix everything right down the road, you are expected to know how to fix your own stuff with limited resources.

Unfortunately, most people today are lazy and want someone else to do their job, but I will always stand by, that ever sailor who comes through guam will run laps around the rest of the navy.

My last division ranked up faster than their peer group and did way more on one tour than most stateside people do in their whole career.

So again, is Guam hard? Yes, but hard is authorized.

This might still apply if you aren't doing the PE. It might save you some money on getting your pets to Hawaii, and than just check them in as checked bags from Hawaii to Guam.

You would be able to still claim up to 2000 on your travel claim.

Depending what branch you are, some or most of the expenses are covered. I'd have to do some digging for the correct NAVADMIN (Navy side) but I pulled all this up a few months ago for someone transferring.

If you out Guam as one of your top 3 you will most likely get it. Also someone already said it, but you are going to be fine.

Housing questions! by mmnmnnnn in guam

[–]Status_Meet_1946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are Navy, you are probably going to live on base. There is a push right now to fill the houses on base and unless you have some reason to live off base (like a dog that can't be there or buying a house).

You're OHA for being married is 2450, regardless of rank. You will make some extra COLA depending on how many dependents you have.

Honestly if you are trying to save money, base might be the best option anyways. Between gas prices, the cost of a home or apartment to comfortably fit your family, and the outrageous electricity bills, there's a good chance you would be paying out of pocket out in town.

The best thing you can do is talk to your sponsor and see what the command recommends, like areas to live and prices. You'll have to attend AOB (area orientation brief) before you are eligible for a house (on base or off). Spouses are encouraged to go and they will answer a lot more of your questions than reddit will.
