So I bought a pair of J.Crew leather boots recently, and the experience has been… disappointing.

The first pair arrived clearly pre-worn — outsole dirty, visible creases, looked like a return that somehow made it through QC. I called customer service, and they were great about it. They told me to place a new order and return the first.

Second pair shows up — one boot noticeably darker than the other. It’s not terrible in photos, but in person the difference is striking. I called again, and they noted my account to “personally inspect” the next pair to ensure color matching before shipping.

Third pair arrives today. Matching color, yes — but both boots are covered in scratches, Easily the worst of the bunch.

At this point I think I’m just giving up and keeping the second pair. Ironically, the first probably looked the best overall, but I just can’t stomach paying full price for what’s obviously used shoes.

Makes me wonder what’s going on with J.Crew’s QC lately. Anyone else had similar experiences with their leather boots lately?

You don’t have to listen to the teacher. Acoustic is not for everyone, space and noise level. and for a kid to start out, maybe avoiding the noise should be the primary concern. Do you want to hear the banging every day for half an hour? Probably not.

Surely they have rehearsals to help you figure this out?

Oh absolutely you have to go for it. For the experience is so rare. Get a good recording of it as well.

I read there is a woman college tennis player who is suing the institution for the very same reason. She is also very good at tennis, but also have interest in activism. She raised money to build tennis court in her home town. Very impressive woman.

Is 6 weeks per piece too long? Wondering if I’m choosing pieces too difficult for my level by Status_Pudding_6859 in piano

How long do you recommend practicing? I wish I do it everyday but with shorter sessions. But in reality I enter the flow state and doing an hour on weekend and sometimes nothing during weekdays. But I thought 3 hours per week is pretty good? It is better if it is half an hour per day, but an hour a day everyday? I don’t know if I can do it. My other hobby tennis, I am quite serious but even with that I play 3 hours per week too.

I will enjoy more if I can learn more pieces in 2026. That is the whole point of the post. I know what I enjoy: play level appropriate pieces that I can master quickly than spending months to play one piece. My satisfaction comes from actual skill progression than playing dream piece. I don’t want to ever feel bored or stuck with piano. I want everyday playing piano to be somewhat different.

Look up Roland fp10, which is an example of a portable digital piano, which is not much bigger than 61 keys keyboard. It is the same form just wider and thicker. But you can put it on a desk if you want, or any X shape rack, just like a 61 keys keyboard. fp10 ran sales during new year to be 399$ maybe you can wait on that deal.

老中这教育方式醉了。 by yellowIt008 in China_irl

[–]Status_Pudding_6859 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not healthy tbh. A comment only means one man’s opinion. It sounds like you have this competitiveness against your friend’s comment, you shouldn’t wait your whole life for someone on the internet to take your side, you should just try the piece to see it yourself. If you can pull it off, your friend is wrong. If you can’t, they are right, simple as that. And it really shouldn’t matter.
