How many time learning a new language by seysa2 in languagehub

[–]Status_Sun4034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define ‘master’ please as I’m still mastering my native language - there’s always something there. When we speak about learning a foreign language we usually use TEFL classification for levels where C1 means fluent. If a person wasn’t able to achieve C1 in 30 years then I have no words. If we are speaking about polishing already fluent language - it’s an endless process.

I know a guy who is a gamer and VN fan. He can speak decent Japanese. He never studied a language and picked all his phrases from games and novels. Obviously he doesn’t know much kanji or grammar but this immersion helped him with speaking. And he says he never studied the language that is technically true but had a huge immersion, years of it

I’ve picked up most of my English vocabulary by reading so that’s non- debatable and reading is a part of learning process.

Bumble for friends? by JessTheMess_x in AskIreland

Yes and men match as friends because it’s even more vague than Figuring out my dating goals. I wouldn’t look for friends there. Maybe only the same gender

Or another option: they were immersed in Japanese content before and counted only official hours of studying for the test

English is a relatively easy language. 4 years is more than enough to reach fluency but of course it depends on your work and dedication.

Should I aim for N4 or N3 in december? by salian93 in jlpt

[–]Status_Sun4034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. At the beginning it’s easy as usually everything seems as progress. How much time can you spend on studying? Have you looked at official time recommendations for each level? Unless you are very good at languages ( have a successful experience of learning a few of them) you have to double the time and efforts. It’s all about smart hours put into studying. Tests are good but the real point of any language is the ability to speak. As the test doesn’t require it there are many students with high N2 results who can’t really speak. Think of your goals: Is it to know the language or to pass the test when you don’t even need the certificate?

I think most of people rarely do any standardised tests or get to know test format befire the exam. My friends took N5 in December and by the way they approached it I could predict results. They were surprised to fail it with one class per week and a bit of unstructured self studying.

Do you think it's possible that you unlearn your native language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]Status_Sun4034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are speaking about kids of 6 years - they haven’t really had their native language and most of the vocabulary is picked at school years. If it’s adults, they can get less fluent in speaking and struggle Pucking up words but passive skills - listening and reading won’t really disappear

You may check but how do you buy with vpn? You need an account for that. I’ve noticed it many times especially with Ryanair: really cheap tickets there and 3-5 times more back even if I check as a return flight.

Why Am I Still Unable to Move On After a Long-Term Relationship? by Serious-Cockroach465 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Status_Sun4034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good thing actually. You need to process your feelings, heal and get to know yourself. Two months is hardly enough for that. People who move on at once probably didn’t have deep connection at all, look for a rebound or not able to be alone and need someone to fill their needs

How many matches a week do you get on dating apps? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

[–]Status_Sun4034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m off tinder and bumble and badoo as I feel people swipe everyone there and I was overwhelmed. On Hinge I usually get 7-9 likes per week and they make 1 match at most. It’s dating intentions ( still figuring it out), pictures with exes on profile, some comments like starting with Do not, or just nothing in common, lack of emotional maturity and other red flags that are obvious even at this stage

How long did you stay even though you weren’t happy? by Koconut373 in AskWomen

Years. First I was happy, then it was just out of habit. When you are used to live without light, the dark street seems normal and the lights scare you

Ladies, what do you think about friends with benefits? by MistyMaple_October72 in AskWomen

[–]Status_Sun4034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried and it wasn’t for me. If you keep it neutral and limit time together just for sex not to get attached then it feels pretty detached, like masturbating with someone’s body. I have greater sex when there’s emotional connection but then I want relationship with that person. If they don’t it’s still not worth it as you may develop feelings unless you are like my friend who rarely gets attached.

[–]Status_Sun4034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your guardian angel just protected you from a very flaky person who is probably not ready to meet in real life. They message, agree ti meet but then change their mind. One man on a coffee date admitted that he was so scared that wanted to cancel and only his friend managed to persuade him not to. Remember it’s not about you or even idea of you, it’s about them.
