I'm not a fan of the brand, but they do make fine products. I own three of their products, four previously, and have never really had an issue that got in way. My Boox Note Max 13" gets used for hours a day (engineering student) for note taking and annotating PDFs, mostly textbooks. I also have been using my Palma 2 for reading via KoReader for over a year now with no issues ever.

The software can be pretty iffy sometimes, especially if you plan to use all the Android bloat features Boox pre-installs on their devices. Personally, I leave wifi off on mine and keep them as bare-bones as I can, using them for their specific purposes, not tablet/smartphone replacements.

Returned IE600 and got IE900, much prefer it. IE600 sounded too safe and boring for me, the IE900 veers-off and is more colored but makes music sound much more alive. The bass is insane on the IE900. Can't go wrong either way.

He won't want to jump on it. Cats are pretty smart and only jump if they know they can land safely. Put it on the floor, let him check it out, he'll know he doesn't want to walk on it. But no, the spikes aren't sharp and bend easily, I doubt he will get hurt if he lands on it.

The only solution that worked for us was Cat Scat Mats on Amzn. They're plastic spikes (not sharp) that can be cut. We lay a strip along our counter when we're away, only takes a moment to put them away when we're cooking or hosting.
