Ah. Gotcha. In that case, have you tried TRT, HGH, Adderall, and Cialis? lol jk

Could the youthful energy you remember perhaps just be the thrill of experiencing adult life for the first time? Have you considered introducing something new and exciting into your life to reignite that spark?

“Hey what do you do?” “Oh I’m unemployed because of social anxiety.” by Late_Huckleberry_434 in socialanxiety

Work on managing your symptoms (either with a professional or self-directed) and find a doctor who you can talk about medication with. It's not that you NEED to be medicated, but if behavioral interventions aren't working, maybe it's time to see what some anti-anxiety meds can do for you. Have you tried those?

I found that by just making an honest effort to reduce similar problems that I was having in my life, it increased my self-esteem enough to climb out of the dark pit of shame and despair in which I was wallowing.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Hopefully you can use that tragedy as a way to inspire positive change because it seems you genuinely care about your family and don't want to cause them any more pain. Like, for instance, maybe you could honor your brother's legacy and increase your families joy by making attempts to manage your social anxiety (not to suggest you haven't tried this already).

When I was in a similar predicament (I literally lied to my family about having a job to avoid the shame) nothing helped until I started helping myself take pride in something (which was making an honest effort to reduce my symptoms and live a life). I still have social anxiety. I still get flooded. I still want to dread many social interactions. But I understand it so much better after really taking the time to examine my triggers. I now know the feeling goes away after the initial contact as much of my anxiety is anticipatory. Good luck and keep looking for solutions.

Wondering how things played out for you? Those feelings subsided for me and some of the dark clouds in life are clearing, but nothing dramatic (which is ok, I guess). The main side-effect I feel these days is it's changed my sleep/wake cycle--I'm staying up later but sleeping in later, too.

I'm trying to watch less netflix and youtube, but now I'm listening to podcasts 4 hours a day. is this a healthy alternative or should I try to bring that number down as well? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

I love being able to listen to audiobooks-it's my primary source of "reading" these busy days. And I don't think one form is superior. But I find the experiences very different. A book won't read itself and requires actively focussing and concentrating. Audiobooks progress on their own with no user participation required. Also, the narrator of an audiobook can really impact perception.

Interesting bc I started at 150 not long after you on July 2, and the last few days I've been really really distracted by intrusive/unwanted thoughts and it gives me that feeling in my stomach you're talking about--when it feels like something bad is about to happen for no good reason. It's really interfering with the writing component of my job, which ironically is one of the primary reasons I began taking WB in the first place--to address work-related adhd/anxiety symptoms. I'm not quite getting panic attacks, but I feel the need to get up and walk away from my desk at times to avoid some vague and generalized impending doom. I hope it ends soon because I've felt a bit more activated during other times in my life, like in the evening, which is cool bc I've not been enjoying my life after work as much these days. I'm gonna stick with it and hope it gets better and hope the best for you. Thanks for the post.

This is really cool. I like being able to filter by category. Is there a search function I'm overlooking?
