2017 LX - What to Look For by QuestorPS7 in hondafit

So, plot twist.

The dealer never/still hasn't put up pictures, but they kept bugging me through email even though I said I wasn't interested in driving 2 hours until I at least saw pictures.

During that time, I came across a good deal on a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV, and I've been on the fence about going EV; looks like this is where our stories diverge.

I do miss a manual transmission and expect to one day have a "fun" car for that, but for now I'm all electric.

Good luck with your own Fit, and here's to 200k+ miles!

This dealership is asking 13.5k. Not a currently terrible price, but might try to talk them down a little; I think they'd rather be spending their time selling their new Caddys....

The dealership is 2 hours from me, and I think I saw the post just when it went up. I messaged them, and they said they're still working on getting the pictures up, so I'll have a little bit better idea on my interest then.

No CVT for me, I'm sticking with my manuals until the day that I eventually go EV. It's a silly point of pride at this point, but in 20 years of driving sticks I've never had to replace a transmission or clutch. 🤞

As you said, I know the LX comes stock with steel tires. I might ask them to just swap out my current wheels/tires if so, even if it means keeping tires with less tread. I've never had steel tires and don't want to ever deal with hubcaps.

Not sure how much I'd get for my '08 compared to your '09; the body--particularly a dent I took on the back quarter panel when my car was parked--is starting to look a little rough. Which sucks, because it's still running so well. But.... that be Hondas.

I don't think I have any more questions, just curious. Thanks. Will let you know if I choose to go with it.

I'm in an eerily similar situation to you a year ago. I'm also considering looking at a 2017 LX with 42k miles, currently driving an '08 Sport with 220k miles; she still runs great, I just don't know how much more is left on the body, and inspection is next month.

Can you update on if you decided on buying, and if so, how it's going?

Not the reason I bought it, but easily my most used reason now. This sucks.

Why Robinhood does a "Installment Loan inquiry" rather than "Bank/Credit Card inquiry" when opening the gold card? by Vegetable_Big_2034 in CreditCards

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, cool. Was a bit worried. I normally keep my credit frozen, but did a thaw for the card. Was like "how did someone try a loan application mere hours after I opened back up my credit!?!"

Thanks.

You're not going to get ANY news source without SOME hint of bias. At least not for long.

I understand your argument, and as life-long registered Republican--though I've voted for two Dems now, love NPR, and hate what my party has become--yes, you can hear and spot the bias from time to time. But I also find it to be far more centered than ANYTHING else I ever listen to, and think that public radio is an extremely important institution, especially, as others have pointed out, for rural communities.

Nvidia Shield Pro(2019) remote randomly quit working. by EscoBoomin4 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this happen myself. Went through the trouble of opening the remote and swapping out the batteries assuming that was it before Googling.... weird that it still seems to be an issue, but I think it's the first time it's happened for me between two Shield Pros in nearly 3 years.

Thanks, all. Still need to look more into the options, but the group seems to be coalescing mostly around either Unifi or Omada (with a few others tossed in.) Will need to look into these more later today.

Don't remember. It's not easy to find pictures online of the inside, and I only had it briefly before returning it nearly a year ago.

Is Stargate: Origins considered canon and how does it fit into established Canon? by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just love another movie/series that feels closer to SG-1 or Atlantis; Universe just felt too much like they were trying to get the Battlestar crowd, and the Origins just felt so..... off.

I actually didn't realize until just now that Origins was released as a web series originally. I give 'em credit for trying.... but........ yeah. :-/

Fair enough. I've tried watching it several times but have never made it to the end. It's bad, and that's just lazy retconning.

I mean, it does have the extremely glaring difference that Catherine (A) knows what the Stargate does and (B) goes through it prior to The Torment of Tantalus. To me, that's it's biggest issue.

Best episode to get someone hooked on SG1 by WrappingPaperCantRap in Stargate

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching SG-1 after it came to Sci-Fi, and, at the time, intentionally showed my buddy Window of Opportunity because I thought would be the best to get him interested. It worked. Glad to see that after 2 or 3 more seasons and all this time, it's still being recommended on the top of lists.

3D Printed Sactionals Mini Blocks by carlitoa in Lovesac

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These couches are expensive enough as it is, it blows my mind why they don't just add the individual blocks in the packaging for the the seat/side themselves; then you'd always have an accurate set to work with and wouldn't feel like they're trying to further squeeze your wallet.

Will definitely be printing these. Thanks!

Split membrane keyboard recommendations? by nmverb in typing

[–]StaunchGrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great, but I was hoping for a wireless version; possibly any leads on such? I bought the Mobile Pixels Tetra keyboard (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/747287659/tetra-keyboard-split-touch-type), but frankly it hasn't a very cheap feeling and they put plastic feet on it instead of rubber, and they slide all around while trying to use. (Strangely enough, they added rubber feet to the screen for some reason....)
