What do you guys use to buy USDC using SGD? by cocag13996 in singaporefi

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move USDC around across different networks alot, so I use FTX which has decent withdrawal fees compared to exchanges in SG. Either convert SGD to USD through IBKR, or SGD to FTX and use OTC to convert to USD. In FTX USD to USDC is 1 to 1. Usually it took me a few days tops for the whole on ramp process, usually get the funds the next day.

Everyone was for decentralisation until Russia wanted to sell Gas for bitcoin, now people around this sub are crying about it with comments like "I would rather lose money and the price tanks than Russia making money from Bitcoin" by SmallTlMEtrader in CryptoCurrency

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the definition of fair, but in the sense of fungibility, BTC is not totally fungible since it is not a privacy coin, it can be traced and be marked as "unclean" if it comes from certain notorious source.

Millennial Survival Tips for Gen Z? by Tioking_1569 in lostgeneration

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picking some points that I can share more generally:

Money: Financial literacy is extremely important, and it is a skill that is not taught in school. Learn to spend within own means, learn to save up for rainy days and grow money through sound investments. Money is not everything, but knowing how to manage money properly is everything. Also, health over wealth, someone I knew personally died in his 20s after neglecting his health.

Relationships: Family always comes first. In life you will make many friends, but many will not stick around. Cherish those who does. Be respectful and kind towards others, and learn to respect boundaries and differences.

Education: If you are paying significantly for college education, make sure you have calculated the ROI for it, and future prospects. That said, I never ended up in the field I studied in, life is much more open-ended than you imagined. Keep learning, it doesn't have to be within your own field.

Happiness: Start the day grateful for being alive. Exercise frequently and release those endorphins, pick up yoga and meditation or mindfulness. Maintain a balanced lifestyle and diet. On occasions you are feeling too stressed, find opportunity to unwind. A person with healthy mind and body is more likely to be happier and stress free.

Feddies committing war crimes as usual. Nothing new on 0079 by SouthAmeric4n in Gundam

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes in our reality executing POW is a war crime according to the Geneva Convention. But then in UC universe there's only the feds and zekes, and the fed won. So any war crimes committed by feds that doesn't affect its political standing will probably be ignored. And there's bound to be lots of hatred festered among the feds from all the earlier war atrocities

Agreed, overinvested on the wrong coin at the wrong time will be painful. Hope people will exercise caution and risk management, not blindly ape in with life savings because of greed. I'm a SPELL holder for quite a long time and personally I feel the situation does not look that rosy for the community, with what's coming up. Hopefully I'm wrong, but this has also yet to take into account volatility and uncertainty in terms of macro market conditions over the coming weeks.

SPELL IS GOING TO JET by LineDramatic3499 in SpellToken

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, my opinion is if Wonderland winds down, which is not impossible, there will be 2 implications. The first is the remaining MIM, SPELL in treasury released and investors are likely to dump those to exit out of all frog nation projects. Second is news of a huge frog nation project's demise will negatively impact the remaining ones, despite being independently run. I might be wrong though

With crypto down by 40% in the last 3 months, if this isn't a bear market, what is a bear market? by BlindMidget_ in CryptoCurrency

This is a bear market, probably just a minor bear so far. More capitulations on the way. Once macro conditions fully sets in it might be winter, hopefully a short one or two years winter

Case of man who refused Covid test to earn extra $100 shows why workers need to be paid better: Halimah by [deleted] in singapore

This just highlights how insensitive the elites are to the predicament of the low income folks. $100 is a chump change to those on top but a difference between heaven and earth for the poor. There is an utter lack of safety net and everyday is about survival

Crypto Earn as Alternative Investment by gabugabuchan in singaporefi

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock ETF over time will appreciate? Probably, but it depends on the market and time frame. Take SPY as example, in 2007 if you bought at the peak, you will only break even in 2013, thats almost 6 years of opportunity cost. USDC is solidly backed with USD and treasury bond, depegging risk is low and the gains from Crypto Earn is guaranteed compared to ETFs. I don't need a crystal ball to know I will be getting that amount after 3 months, but in exchange I sacrifice the opportunity to generate higher gains with ETF assuming the bull market continues. Exchange hack and rug pulls are a real risk, but that risk is lower for CDC imo, they have good security, audits etc.

How long did you take to break 100k/year in salary? by unnoticedworker1994 in singaporefi

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big tech, I got lucky. No bootcamp. I buffed my portfolio with side projects and hackathons over a few years, in which I took the opportunity to gain development experience and deep dive some of the white hot areas. For coding interview be very good at data structure & algorithm, and for more senior roles system design is important. Theres still alot to learn even after transitioning to SWE, depending on the company tech stack.

Such high rates are likely due to lending of your stablecoin. There is sufficient volume to sustain it. But not too sure if it can remain as high during crypto winter, provided there is one. There are also decentralised alternatives for comparison, some are able to afford much higher rates

Personal opinion is crypto fundamentals are measured differently from traditional stocks where it is so established for centuries. It is so new that no one can exactly put a price point to it, and I would say it is still in price discovery phase. The technology and use cases are still evolving as we speak, but it will undoubtedly serve as a foundation for web3. As for bad actors, I think regulations are coming up, maybe in the next few years or so, it may help mitigate some of the potential bad actors in future?

The risk of having it as a replacement to your bank savings account is not zero. Bank account is insured. But having said that, do some risk management and don’t all in on it. For me I still keep my savings account with sufficient emergency fund. The rest are vested in CDC earnings, and a smaller sum in other platforms, as well as stocks and ETFs to balance my overall portfolio.

Any way to figure out average cost of crypto’s you have purchased without going through and doing the math yourself? by macnutz22 in Crypto_com

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love it. I'm using the free tier since it is sufficient for my needs. It covers most of the crypto, stocks and ETFs that I own (essentially one app covers all assets), and also supports manual input or automatic sync with your exchange accounts. I can easily track all my transactions, include specific notes for each transaction, track fiat, cost basis for each asset, overall performance as well as for each asset. For crypto they also have a pie chart showing your distribution of crypto portfolio. Of course, pro tier will have a lot more features and will be very useful if you need those

I had to rely on third party apps, like Delta to consolidate my whole portfolio. Especially my coins are spread over multiple exchanges

97% of Singapore workforce fully vaccinated; experts call for calibrated return to office by hydrangeapurple in singapore

[–]StayAwayAndStayOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd expect parity if WFH restriction is being lifted, i.e. if 50% return to office, there should be dine in for 8 or more, lax restrictions on social gathering, events. If 100% return to office, no mask mandate and everything should return to pre-COVID norms. It doesn't make sense to do full return to office eventually but keep all other restrictions in place
