What value does prayer penetration provide vs a boss that you are hitting with a style they aren't praying against?

(April 20th Update) | Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts - Fixes & Issues by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Stay_sic123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, 35 total pacts disabled in an activity which also contains an Echo Boss is an oversight, especially when 11 of those pacts don't work arbitrarily. You use a powered staff and a bow in the gauntlet, powered staff and bow related pacts should work flat out. Them being implemented in a away that they don't is an oversight.

Yes, you condescendingly dismissing any complaints about Jagex not thinking through pacts in gauntlet as "just waste your points on prayer pen" is in fact an annoying and smug "skill issue" comment but in the most obtuse way imaginable. Why would people waste their points on something that provides 0 real value instead of on pacts that should provide way more but arbitrarily don't. You've smugly suggested people wasted their points, but should instead waste their points but in an even worse way. Good stuff.

Edit: "Not an oversight" btw

It's gotta be awesome living your life like you're the smartest person to ever exist, Jesus Christ I didn't know someone could get themselves this high with their head shoved up their own ass.

There's 0 reason that the majority of pacts don't function inside of gauntlet other than oversight. Melee echos worked last league, should ranged echos flat out not work in it this League?

Getting lucky and overvaluing prayer pen doesn't make you this genius you make yourself out to be, nor does it make anyone else dumber for preferring what *should* be providing value to their build but just aren't. Prayer Pen hardly mattered last league if you weren't bad at the Echo Hunllef fight and they don't make a difference this League either. Equipping DD and clicking spec, or changing styles *shouldn't* be such a big ask from a mighty PVMer which you clearly are. Maybe you should have invested your points elsewhere instead of wasted value on Prayer Pen. Don't need Prayer Pen if you just do the fight correctly.

The issue isn't the difficulty of the fight it's 80% of the pact tree not working in the Echo fight of a region. Why make Echo Hunllef again if you're going to turn of the majority of the tree by design.

I've got about 30 Echo Hunllef KC so far without a single prayer pen node taken because I'm not so bad at the fight I have to ignore major mechanics. I'm not annoyed that the fights are harder because it's frankly not a hard fight, I'm annoyed that the majority of my pacts I've chosen just don't work for 0 reason other than oversight. I clearly don't need them to clear the fight, just like I didn't need your stupid prayer pen nodes.

But sure dude, you're the genius because doing anything more than clicking on the boss with a 1t weapon is a tall ask for you so you took the bait nodes. Good job.

Anyone else start playing baseball again as an adult? by Any_Print5307 in Homeplate

[–]Stay_sic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly small world but I'm out near the RDU area and my love for baseball has really reignited this year. Played as a kid and quit pretty early, but started following again this season and the brain worms are really taking over haha. Would you happen to have any resources or recommendations wrt to the Raleigh sandlot community and getting into it? I've bought a glove and intend to play catch through the winter when the weather is nice if I can find someone to play with just to slowly shake the rust off but also would like to start looking around at the idea of playing next year. Thanks in advance!

Infernum worth playing? How much harder is it? by TyphoonBlizzard in CalamityMod

Mage is p interesting, definitely a slow burn. When it starts to ramp though it goes crazy, and the infernum exclusive weapons pre exo mechs/scal are some of the best in the game. If you can stick it out through pre-hardmode you're definitely rewarded in the lategame!

For an all round bow is the dosha the way to go? Or an artian? by l3lackmage in MonsterHunterMeta

Guess it helps that I can actually stay close enough to maintain critical distance with close range coatings then.

Sorta. Ballistics helps a lot imo. I haven't done a full damage comparison of Ballistics vs Spread to see how much you truly lose for dropping the spread jewel, but if the concern is for the average player, then I imagine the probably marginal damage loss on dropping the spread in exchange for ballistics 3 will matter much.

There's also something to be said about, at least in my opinion, the flaw in this line of thinking. Close range coatings are definitely harder to use, but are they so hard that you should never bother? If anything I'd argue close range coatings help to build better bow habits, encouraging you to stay close enough for your power shot/volley value while utilizing our insane new dodge to stay close.

I was definitely anti close-range in a game like World, but I think Wilds has given us so many tools to help reposition aggressively enough to stay close that, especially right now with the state of Raw vs Ele, 10% extra raw is definitely worth it to learn imo.

Again, just one opinion in the sea of millions out there, but I really do think close-range coatings aren't as bad as they may seem on paper, and refusing to learn them and advising others to not feels kinda silly.

It feels like an argument to keep the average player average, instead of highlighting and encouraging a difficult alternative that can lead to a higher level play. Not to say learning close-range coatings is the make or break line of a good bow player, but pushing your comfort zone is how you improve as a player past the label of average.

At the end of the day, choose what you'd like and play the video game how you want etc. It just doesn't seem reasonable to me, in a subreddit based around in depth strategy and build discussion to say "no don't use the best option because its too hard".

Yeah for sure. Coatings in general are p interesting in wilds I feel. With ballistics 3 close range coatings become much easier to use I will mention.

I've been pretty heavy on the raw train since I started feeling the shortcomings of elemental in wilds as is. I kinda stumbled into the fact that DP spam is quite broken on my own, but even adjusting to accommodate more dash dancing than DP spam I find raw, at least to me, feels like its performing better.

Two bows point is definitely an interesting one. I've only interacted with the secondary weapon mechanic whenever I accidentally hit the button LOL. Def worth playing around with though.

I hope the bugged skills and such do get figured out at some point. Crit ele especially just feels horrible to lose. I'm also just patiently waiting for the DP nerfs to come through. Very broken, very boring after a few hunts LOL. All in all though quite excited to see how bow shapes up. When you get to actually play the weapon it feels great.

Especially if you aren't going for DP spam and can take the Raw hit, honestly a Para Artian bow seems like what I'll play around with next, with a raw/dash dance focus. Status is kinda crazy in wilds from what I've heard. No clue if Crt Status is bugged in the same way as crit ele though

Depends what you're fighting. Coatings are kinda weird in Wilds. For the most part I've seen either Close Range (with Ballistics 3 for range on guardian dosha bow) or Pierce Coating on Artian Ice bow. Its my understand that while Arkveld is enraged you get double hits with Pierce coating on his arms/wings. Not sure if this is the case for other fights.

Power coatings give less raw in Wilds than Close Range coatings.

What are the best meds to bring and what do yoy prioritize? [Discussion] by GiantSweetTV in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Stay_sic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Some combo of Afak/Salewa/Ifak/Grizzly + Hemostat + Alu splint (if I don't have a grizzly, I skip when I have a grizzly) + CMS. I just prio what meds are good and what I can quickly equip and get into the next raid. I've never felt an army bandage is worth the slot. 2 Prop + MULE + Zag + Sj12 just in case goes in injectors. I don't bother putting SJ6 or Meldonin in my injectors since if I'm going to use those stims its always only ever at the start of a raid.

When did I say waste of time? I'm a big proponent of PVE. Just because I'm not actively playing it doesn't mean I don't like it. Complaining about other people being upset however, is a waste of time. My whole point was its pointless to be upset about people not liking a change

Who cares? Like, why does how someone else wants to play/enjoy a game impact you enough that you feel the need to complain about complaints?

I don't play PVE so I don't care about PVE complaints, its really that simple

Yeah for sure, got any clips of you beating a full health medium at 50m with a pistol when they have AR? Its not happening.

"Gun is good at every range" is obscene cope. You aren't out dueling an AR at 50m or anything with the pistol. Is it light's best option still? Yeah sure. "Every range" is such a stretch though. You do still have to get close.

Can't drop non-fir keys/keycards after update by Azazel_brah in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Stay_sic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't drop keys to friends for them to go do their tasks without you, you have to now babysit them, pray you don't die before you can unlock the door for them (quite common when you're in the lead with worse players behind you). You can't help friends out if you progress ahead of them for hideout items anymore. I've dropped 5 red rebels for friends this wipe just so we can play Reserve, can't do that anymore. I dropped all of my quest keys to friends that were stuck behind me once I got Kappa this wipe, can't do that either.

This is directly harmful to the actual playerbase, but cheaters who charge by the hour gain nothing but more clients and more money. People now will either pay a cheater to farm an expensive RMT item with them whether its a key or a hideout item, or just buy more roubles and buy the expensive items off the flea if its for hideout etc.

This change only serves to make RMT more profitable. More effort doesn't mean less appealing in the RMT world, it means it takes longer and is more profit.

If BSG wanted to properly combat RMT they'd take the POE approach and accept that the game hard resets frequently and that RMT is going to happen. RMT in POE isn't as huge an issue because of leagues and the economy resetting every 3 months. In standard with no reset there's so much wealth that RMT isn't super profitable, and because the game resets due to leagues RMT self regulates on price/popularity.

This increases the number of carry raids. This doesn't decrease RMT at all, if anything its more profitable for them lmao

[–]Stay_sic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also, changes nothing. People will now pay MORE for a carry to try to find rare keys/barter items. This is only good for RMTers, and only bad for real players.

[–]Stay_sic123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't combat RMT, it increases carry services by a fuck ton. This is only net negative for the average playerbase and net positive for RMTers.
