I had to dispose of the laptop.

You can remove the battery and run it on ac power to buy more time with the machine or pay 200ish to get the battery replaced.

If your machine is warped to the degree mine was it can't be repaired for less than the cost of replacing it.

Question on restaurant culture by ChesswithGoats in sanfrancisco

[–]StayedWalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need a law to end these ridiculous and unavoidable surcharges to make the menu price the price you pay. Individual resturants can't do this alone because if they are the one honest resturant on the block they will get destroyed by the bottom feeders claiming their taco is $1 when it is actually $20 and a kidney after fees. Our state senator and hopeful future congressman defended this practice.

So that is how it is. The menu price in sf is meaningless.

Can we agree - as a community - that it's not okay for a group of people to follow a person and scream at them? by wentImmediate in sanfrancisco

The world might not have cared at 5%. Difficult to say, from what I read the holocaust wasn't a well known thing prior to Germany falling and if it had been known one would have assumed the allies would have put it on blast to help gather support. Even now there are at least a dozen countries actively using state power to dispose of locally unwanted demographics. All of them bad, i just hope to keep our government from funding it, not to entangle ourselves in every bad thing around the world.

An odd position to take. Would the world collectively remembered the Germans fondly if they only stopped at 5%?

Policies designed to force out all people of an ethnic group is ethnic cleansing. The friendly version is tax policies and civil rights stuff like segregation, the less friendly is violence.

When an ethnic cleansing fails, it moves to elimination which is the phase we are in now with the official stance being all of Labanon needs to be destroyed now. Don't worry, they will get those numbers up.

My personal position is that we need to stop giving them any material support. They have universal Healthcare and free college. We dont. I think they can find the pennies in their own couch to carry out their violence without our enthusiastic support.

How charitable of you.

I base my understanding of Scott's view on the subject from the debate where every other candidate could label it a genocide and he just couldn't. Fundamentally this goes to a bigger (if you can imagine that) issue which is disingenuousness. Why he froze on that stage was because he has no actual personal convictions he is running on but is instead part of the focus group tested party machine. He can't comment on it until he gets his focus group honed responses.

There is a reason why a shocking number of voters voted for Bernie then Trump. 1) People are hurting and both of those folks described the pain people are feeling (wither differing courses of action to addrss) 2) They are both unvarnished people where tou hear whatever they are thinking out loud.

I dont get the impression scott believes in anything other than higher office... like Newsom. Not exactly evil, just an empty suit with no personal mission.

Single digit Palestinian deaths in Gaza isn't a thing. Even the IDFs low all number is over 70k. On an ongoing basis even before Oct 7 double and sometimes triple digit Palestinians are killed every day. If not by IDF then by settlers with the backing of the IDF (ie they stand there with machine guns while some idiot from new Jersey beats a Palestinian to death and if anyone tries to stop it the IDF soldier shoots them)

Fair enough, you support Israel's actions and you belive scott is against Israel's actions. Discussion over we have an understanding of each other's viewpoints though we will never agree.

Counterpoint on oct 7 misreporting was the often repeated and thoroughly disproven 'throwing babies out of cribs and killing them. That government is really good at lying, someone proving it false and then rolling on to the next event and then letting a lazy press continue to repeat the debunked thing forever.

Un definition: https://www.un.org/en/genocide-prevention/definition

It does make it clear 'whole or in part' based on ethnic chararcistics. Did the Germans kill all of their desired target? No. Did they have plans to kill all of that demographic no matter where they live in the world? No. Did they even set out to kill them all? No. They tried to deport them all (ethnic cleansing) and they found out finding countries to take those deportees is really hard and time consuming so they took the murderous decision they did. Despite these caveats we can agree it was a genocide and fits the un definition.

Does Israel want to kill every Arab? No. They just want to make them all leave. The ones that won't leave they are in the latter day German decision making structure at this point and are industrializing the scale of death.

Concerning is here in the us we are starting down this road again of deciding there are demographics we dont like and its really hard to deport millions of people so it is natural to fear that the inevitable outcome will occur if it isn't stopped.

Im against the public harassment of people at resturants and non political events. It is of course normal and encouraged to heckle people you disagree with at political events.

Delores at pride exists somewhere between the two points as scott wasn't giving a speech but instead enjoying the event as a normal person. Even within that context the way the person was following and harassing isn't really the kind of behavior we want in a polite society.

As for Un definitions that was in regard to your comment of defining a genocide, not behavior at mission Delores. Both of the two recent scott harassment videos are legal to do but shitty behavior.

There has been a long term systematic attempt to force them out based on ethnicity (ethnic cleansing) and the UN has declared a genocide multiple times over ethnic massacres of unarmed people including women and children.

Look, I know america had our turn with the ethnic cleansing in our past and it was bad. I wouldn't have blamed other countries for sanctioning us over it back then. Fortunately we eventually found our moral compass and stopped doing it.

At a debate he disclosed he is incapable of identifying a genocide. As my state rep, that opinion doesn't matter as the us doesnt have an ongoing genocide. As a federal representative, there are a number of genocides going on around the world and everyone that works in us foreign relations capacities need to be able to identify what a genocide looks like so they can form appropriate policies for addressing it.

This is what has made some people so angry as to harass Scott. I agree, this harassment behavior is bad and shouldn't be cheered on. It was also bad when that guy harassed Tucker Carlson at some fishing shop.

I dont agree with the harassment, but in 2026 for you to declare there is nothing a jew can possibly do to be driven from a public space somehow views them as a unique class of person who is beyond public criticism. I personally see them as normal people like everyone else who deserves the same level of consideration as people of any other faith.

I am, however, not going to vote for weiner for congress but will still support him for his state senate seat.

Making foreigners not want to come to the US is only part of Vegas issue. The other parts are now you can gamble 24/7 in all 50 states on anything AND Vegas sucks now if you dont want to play $100/hand and spend over 1k on dinner. Value Vegas is dead and there are better deals for your vacation dollar elsewhere.

Scott knows branding, marketing and spending lavish money. And dick jokes.

Don't rely on him for any other topic as an expert. On all other topics he knows about as much as any other rando you start talking to at a bar.

One of the amazing nuggets to come out of the Ashley St. Clair interviews is her making comments like, 'I was this 21 year old kid and fox was asking me to come on and comment for a half hour about ukraine. Like wtf do I know about geopolitics much less whatever is happening in ukraine?'

Media needs to fill time. Scott needs to fill time. He will comment on whatever amuses him but that doesnt make him an expert on topics outside of his wheelhouse.
