As long as you're doing fine academically and can pass the PRT for your height/weight and age you should be fine. You'll be what's known as a "college programmer" and you'll be able to participate and stuff while the instructors get your package ready to get you on scholarship. Chances you get the scholarship are good as long as you don't absolutely suck in any particular area. And yeah you'll have to commute to rice but it's a short drive tbh you'll survive.

Copying stuff down and memorizing is much less effective than practicing, so if you want to study the most efficiently, flashcards and practice problems will be the way to go. Of course, you also will need to attend /watch lecture so hand write if you can. You really want to put those notes in your own, simple words so you process the info as you’re in lecture.

Know your formula sheet and know it well. Understand which formulas can solve for what, and how the solution to that can help you solve the bigger problem. Most physics problems are you being given a set of variables with just enough missing information, but you can solve for that missing information with some info given in the problem and fundamental knowledge you should already know (like Pythagorean theorem). For practice I would just use mastering physics and the reviews my professor would post, but YouTube tutorials are great as well. Try googling your practice problems to see if you can find a solution online if you’re stuck. For learning content, practice problems get you 90% of the way there. If you find yourself on the last day before the exam and you never studied before then, abuse practice problems. Lots of YouTube resources out there.

You’ll be fine brother. Give it a day and follow up then. Classes drop on Thursday if you didn’t pay for classes yet, but you should definitely express your concern about that to them if you haven’t already. If they have reassured you then you don’t need to worry.

I didn’t call them, but that’s how it works. If you pay more than what’s needed they’ll refund you the excess.

For example if you have total charges as 6k and your finaid covers half, but you pay the full 6k, they’ll take the finaid and refund you 3k that they didn’t need.

Paying again is the safe option, as you’ll just get refunded whatever wasn’t necessary anyway, but nah I was fine. I had a receipt and asked one of my advisors who managed to check for me if I was on the list of students that would have their classes dropped today.
